Wow, just found out about this deal and I really like it. Riske always killed us when he was with Cleveland and he knows AL Central hitters. If he stays healthy, it works out well for the Sox. Nice deal.

Ecuador has been nothing short of spectacular in this World Cup. Those guys are for real. I'm hoping T&T gets an upset here against England. -
QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) So you don't like it at all but I'm on the right track? Sounds strange to me. You're on the right track as in you are improving and being more creative. I'm just giving you constructive criticism.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) Honestly.. what would you expect from a California boy..? (no offense Jason.. ) Take a f***ing surfboard and hit Padilla with it dead in the kneecap! And don't apologize to Jason, his claim to fame is the beard. If only Jon had a beard with that awesomeness...

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Thats what Im talking about!!! Have you seen Thome do a high-5? He can rip a man's arm out of it's socket. Imagine what he could do to Showalter's head when he's pissed!
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) I wish some of our starters had the balls of Padilla. He challenged the Sox, and he shoved it up our ass after the altercations. Cough...Garland....ahem. Cough.

Yeah, the glow really kills it. And the cropping around Pods is bad. And the Scott Pods text doesn't fit. And personally, I don't like the background at all. You're on the right track.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) yeah and padilla throwing at AJs head with a 90 mph hardball isnt bulls***...please...this is baseball, not golf I gotta agree. We should have retaliated somehow. In baseball, retaliation is acceptable and acknowledged. Fights happen, it's part of the game. Bad call on the ump to take away any chance of retaliation for the Sox. If your guy gets thrown at twice, you throw at their guys too. Thats baseball. Now, Hawk, being the old school SOB that he is, went crazy with the kneecap and wait outside the hotel room thing. And personally, I like it.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) I'm not sure I've ever seen a defensive lineup that bad in ChiSox history....and I saw Carl Everett in CF in person, so thats saying alot.. At least the ever-hot Pods is starting though! Why not put Mack in LF, Anderson in CF...let the kid play Ozzie, quit running out these "B" game outfields. Ozzie must think it is Sunday. Jeez. Oh, and nice sig.

Although I won't be there this weekend, I went to a Reds/Marlins game at the Great American Ballpark in it's inaugural season in 2003. It's a beautiful stadium and the view of the river out over the concourse in right/right-center is beautiful. You guys will enjoy it.

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Yeah, Poland was playing for a draw after the red card, really unfortunate that they had to take the loss there considering just how well Bourac played. That being said, with the Poles and the US all but eliminated I need a new side to root for, any ideas? Serbia. Do it. See: Avy -
Wow. Thats amazing. The low-2006 average is higher than the high-2005 average!

Bocanegra is arguably the best defender the US has yet Bruce Arena doesn't play him. A very successful Premiership player and he came up with the Fire. This Tunisia/Saudi Arabia game is pretty boring. 1 good goal. -

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) 3-0 now, and the first penalty of the 2006 world cup has finally been taken. This game has potential to be really ugly now that Ukraine is down a man. Spain might be looking to take out all of their past World Cup frustrations out on this game. Well, they added 1 more to make it a 4-0 Spain winner. Torres hit that ball hard.Shevchenko had 1 good chance and lost it when he couldn't control the ball. Overall, Ukarine played very bad. They had 3 total chance, the best when Casillas came out way too far and missed the ball. The Ukrainian striker couldn't put it in and Spain's defense was able to pick up the keeper. Great game by Spain. -

Spain is looking dominant against Ukraine. And Raul isn't even on the pitch. Bad, BAD call on the red card and penalty kick against Ukraine. Vashchuk sent off and Villa nails the PK to make it 3-0 Spain. Yikes. -
How do you use your arm angle as an advantage against hitters? Does it enhance the movement on your pitches? -Slavko

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) Ya, my only problem with him is that the 2nd time I saw him live (and it was quite a bit after the 1st time) was that a lot of his material was very similar (I like to see new stuff). I agree. He repeats a lot of his stuff or takes old stuff and just changes it around a little. One of the reasons I like Mencia so much is that his stand up is different all the time.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) My favorites would be Pablo Francisco and Dane Cook. Both are very good live with Dane Cook being the better of the two. Oh and Dave Attel. Have you heard Pablo Francisco's acts about Las Vegas? And his pieces about movies and Ahhhnold are great too.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 06:17 PM) Croatia made Brazil look ordinary. They are beatable. Italy are a shadow of their former self and Germany have a few old horses mixed in with some inexperienced youth, give them a few more years and they may be contenders. USA are just, well, USA. This is not your national sport, you don't have the quality in depth to compete at this level.....yet. Holland will do OK if they don't shoot themselves in the foot and Australia are flattering to deceive. Argentina will probably win if they catch Brazil playing the way they did today. Now then England, well we ALLWAYS get of to a slow start and then improve and improve we will. I don't know where this image of chokers has come from, we've managed a couple of Quarter finals and a fourth place losing to Brazil, Argentina and Germany in recent tournaments. Admittedly we have gone out a number of times via penalty shoot outs, but these are a lottery ( and we did win the whole damn thing once ). England has the best team in depth, unlike most teams that have some fantastic individual stars we have the best midfield in the tournament with Gerard, Beckham, Cole and Lampard. Our defence is strong, the goalie is class and if Rooney can come back in the later stages we'll have a forward line that will frighten any defence. Our only downside is our s***ty negative minded no bollocks, taught in Italy, Swedish - I won't show any soul - characterless manager. As I've said before, if the team can ignore him long enough and play their natural game.........we can win this. Or Argentina will. Or I could be completely wrong and be talking a whole lot of clap trap. Well, you sure as hell give a lot of credit to a team that one on an own goal against Paraguay. QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) You actually think the Czechs are the 2nd best in the world? Wow, that's a hell of a reach. The Germans have 8 players with 40+ caps and went to the last final. Inexperience? Yes, the Czech's are the real deal. Thats not a reach at all. They have mastered their gameplan to a tee and have the talent to do so. Nevded, Koller, Rosicky, Cech, Ujfalusi, and Jankulovski. Don't forget, Milan Baros, one of their best players, didn't even play against the US. And as far as the Germans, they have 4 players with under 10 caps and quite a few under 20-25. -
