  1. Very cool! Thanks. I had read about some of the trials and tribulations of getting the film done in a couple of the beer trade mags, but has lost track of its status. Here's hoping it's out on DVD before too long.

    Ho Dad!!

I'm often spelling-challenged, it's true. But the "Ho Dad!" is old school surfer speak for non-surfers or surf wannabes. From the Surfer's Glossary... 'Ho-Dad: a kook, a weasel, a person trying to be a surfer just to pick up chicks.'
  3. Bowling For Columbine had a similar scene in it, when Moore was asking the producer of Cops why he didn't make a show focusing on taking down corporate scumbags with the same kind of tactics.
  4. I missed the top of the inning - what's up with the powder blue armbands?
  5. That's 10 straight, with the 11-4 pounding of Arisona last night. D-Rays!

    DodgeBall

Jason Bateman is great as Michael Bluth in "Arrested Development." I hope they bring it back. That was a seriously underappreciated show, in a tough Sunday time slot up against whatever HBO heavy hitter (Curb/6 feet/Soppranos) was running. I thought it was easily the best-written network sitcom last year.

    Ho Dad!!

Seasonally I guess that's about right. Sometimes I forget you got your seasons all ass-backwards Down Under. Today is the official first day of summer here in the hemisphere that matters. I noted to my wife this morning that Father's Day kicks Mother's Day's arse because it's alway on or around the longest day of the year since Dads deserve the extra time to bask in the spotlight. My wife then once again ignored my annual request that she make me a 12-egg ommlette, rolled over and went back to sleep while I got up to go work. Showed her who's boss.
  8. I saw that. I just don't know what happens to keep these guys from bringing a little of that success up with them when they get the call. I guess it comes down to how much you're going to pay for making mistakes up in the Bigs versus AAA. Even after the surgery I was still pretty high on Rauch. and I'd love for him to click up with us. Just getting impatient now I guess.

    Ho Dad!!

Shout out to all the Dads on the board! Have a great, hopefully relaxing day.
  10. I will be at that game. Oh joy, I get to watch the wheels come off the 5th starter up close and in person.
  11. Add the drama of I don't rememeber how many hours worth of rain delays, and that game was something. This game ould have been maybe somewhere near that until Cotts coughed up a pair and put it out of reach. The team battled until the end in that game last year and came up just short. We were lifeless once tonight's 15-14 game was put out of reach at 17-14. Our 9th inning at bat we looked (for the only time really in the game) like a defeated team. The fifth starter issue needs to be addressed now, and the pen needs to get it's collective act together now, or the season may quickly get away from us.
  12. %$@! Ach! Cotts just made the imporbable comeback much less probable...

    I'm back

When you said it was a mock government, you neglected to specify it included mock revolt and anarchy. Cool. Welcome back.

    New DVDs

Just keep repeating it to yourself and you'll start to believe it. Two thumbs down on quantum leap, and that's generous only because I don't have more thumbs. Curb Your Enthusiasm, on the other hand....
  15. That's 182 in cat years!
  16. Hmmm, hope it's nothing serious.

    Saved!

Umm, thanks...? I think spititiality is more appropriately the human reaction to a perceived Hand of God, at least on a personal level. Religion, the socialization and codification of those spiritual longings and leanings, is where we tend to get it wrong I think.

    Saved!

Religion is a human construct, so it's completely up to us to sink or soar with it. Unfortunately it seems like we sink more often than soar.

    Saved!

I agree, Hi-Fi was better than the last couple releases before it. For my ears on the REM offerings, how goes Peter Buck, so goes the band. If he gets apathetic or stuck in the same rut for an entire album, sound-wise and attack wise, it's hard for the rest of the album to rise above that. I still miss the jangly meandering Peter Buck style of old, not to mention the dueling, interwoven countermelodies of the two Mikes, but I don't fault them for growing beyond that.

    Saved!

Saved looks like it's worth seeing, thanks for the review, PA!
  21. Hazing?!? I thought it said 'tithing'. I gotta read that fine print better.
  22. It won't bring back folks' retirement money, you're right, but it would have been obscene if Lay didn't go down for this. Here's hoping the best defense money can buy isn't enough to keep him out of the orange jumpsuit.
  23. "Old enough to know what's right, and young enough not to choose it." 18 is a good time. Have a good B-day!
