Rowand offered 4 yrs/55 million from Sox
QUOTE(spiderman @ Dec 5, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) This sounds like the White Sox are just trying to make a splash now, and what better way than to bring back Rowand. Get Eric Bedard. I'm so fed up with KW getting fleeced in deals, hate to bring up stuff that happened way too long ago, but Rowand never should have left this team in the first place. The Philies had no friggen room for Thome, guy should have been had for 2 or 3 prospects. Every other GM in baseball can make these deal, which is why KSmug needs to go away. Renteria got traded for prospects, and we give up Garland for OCab, guy overpaid simple as that. Detroit has shown me how a decent baseball organization should be run. As Sox fans, to expect any less than what a team in DETROIT f'ing Michigan can do from our baseball club is ludicrous.

What the hell was Ozzie doing, volume 80 billion
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) Still wanna defend Ozzie there? Owens proves he can make the battery of Borowski/Martinez look like the girls from A League of Their Own, but Ozzie hasn't even let him attempt to get into second with nobody out. I can't take this trash anymore, this game should be over. You take the bat out of your hottest hitters' hands, when clearly Owens can steal 2nd. Let Owens run, then have Josh bunt him over, then you have a sac fly, or even a squeeze at the very least. What ever happened to Ozzie having a pair. If only Steve Stone was dumb enough to take a managing job.

Kris Honel Retired?
QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) Yeah, I'm still kind of amazed that Providence didn't roll through the state tourney with those two on the mound. Just days after Kris signed with the Sox, I played in the the Catholic League All-Star game (which the Sox didn't allow Kris to play in of course) and there were some stories about how he may have let some of the press and accolades get to his head. I don't know Kris, so I'm not sure if any of that is true, but it's definitely understandable. Anyway, I'd love to see Pignatello and Cesar make it and be successful in the bigs some day. He was the typical cocky jock. Dumped his long term GF right after he signed, cant remember how much his bonus was, but quite sure it made him a millionaire. He also had a "K" tattooed on his right shoulder, and it wasn't because his name started with a K. Oh yeah he also used to carry around a baseball bat in the hallways. Pretty much sums up all I can remember from high school.

Kris Honel Retired?
QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) I'm the same age as Kris and we faced one another our senior year of high school. My team actually had Cesar Carrillo take the mound against him, so that game was a scout's dream. Anyway, Honel had easily the nastiest stuff I've ever seen, and having played in the Catholic League, I saw Gorzelany, Pignatello, Bogusevic, and Keefner who were all highly regarded. It's a shame he injuries got the best of him because I think he'd have been a pretty good major league pitcher. I went to Providence with Honel and Pignatiello. Those two as your 1 and 1a, figured we would have won a state title. Ahh anyway, bad breaks for Honel both physically and mentally was what I have heard. Back when Honel led the league in strikeouts I always thought it'd be cool that I went to the same high school as a Sox pitcher at the same time he did. Oh well. But hey, Carmen is doing pretty good for Iowa, maybe he'll get called up and the Sox can rock him next year.

Buehrle Fest
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) I'm so freaking happy I could almost cry Haha, I was just about to make a post about how I'm nearly welling up in my cube right now. Hopefully this is all true, and it's just another example of why we love Mark so much. In the grand scheme of things, he's still a very rich man. All I can say now is please be true.

Maybe Some Great News
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) Yeah, this. I hope they keep Singleton around, I like how he doesn't seem to take the game too seriously and brings a bit of very odd humor to the booth unlike Farmer who comes off as an arrogant ass. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a Darrin Jackson/Chris Singleton booth would be the most entertaining announcing team in baseball. I'd rather eat glass then listen to those two morons. Singleton needs a chance blah blah blah, he completely unnatural and annoying. He has all game to say anything he wants, he doesn't make a good impression with most people on here now, putting him in with another bumbling moron doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Ozzie
QUOTE(Allsox @ May 18, 2007 -> 01:02 PM) Don't get me started about that douchebag's salary. Because of it, the Score couldn't throw anything but peanuts to John Rooney after the '05 season, hence, losing one of the greatest play-by-play announcers this town ever had. I will always blame Mike North for that loss and nothing anybody says will convince me otherwise. How about the fact that the radio and tv announcers are employees of The Chicago White Sox. Mike North's salary at the Score had absolutely zero impact on John Rooney's contract negotiations.

Keith Foulke memory
QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 19, 2007 -> 03:16 AM) To be perfectly honest and 100% serious, I basically have no memories of Foulke as a Sox player. It's almost as if he never existed. He never did anything, good or bad, that stuck in my memory. Is that weird? 97 saves in 5 years. Impressive considering he was only the closer for a little over 2 years before Manuel started dicking around with the closing situation. I remember feeling sick to my stomach when Jerry removed Keith from the closers role, leading to his eventual trade to Oakland. (Where he had a stellar year) I also remember that big fat guy that used to be visible and audible behind the plate on every home game broadcast could be heard yelling out, "FASTBALL, CHANGEUP, CHANGEUP, FASTBALL" when Foulke would pitch.
