  1. I thought that was hilarious. And I usually don't like Adam Carolla.
  2. 57 wins at All Star Break = A.
  3. It's true, if you want to import a smart car, you have to mod it.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) The problem is that Israel has never put up with ANY of the citizens being murdered or kidnapped, so when Palestians do something along those lines they know full well that there will be retaliation. Its kind of like kicking a sleeping pitbull, and then suing when it attacks you afterwards. I know its not that simple, but the organizations that decide to kidnap and kills Israelis don't seem to care that it is their direct actions that lead to the deaths of their fellow Muslims. How much credit falls on their own shoulders because of their actions? A lot of Israeli lives have been saved by making it nearly impossible for suicide bombers to invade and kill within Israel as well. When the organizations charter running the Palestians territories has it within their charter to destroy and conjour Israel, there aren't many easy solutions to saving your own citizens. I fail to see where cutting off power and water to 600,000 people is ever an acceptable response to the kidnapping of a 19 year old soldier. If this had been a North Korean, Iranian or Venezuelan reaction to a hostile action, a lot of Israeli defenders would be calling for their heads. Just saying is all. This action is inexcusable.
  5. It's available in Canada, but modifications are required to make it fit US standards of something or other IIRC.
  6. I'm pretty sure few people in Palestine voted for terrorism. I'm reasonably sure they voted for basic services that the Fatah party failed to provide while in power. Mostly of their own doing, partially due to other factors. I know this guy who helped administer the elections earlier this year in the Palestinian territory. He told me why Hamas won. People were sick of a corrupt government not providing things necessary for a society to work, so they voted for change. When your first priority is getting your kids fed, you probably aren't so concerned about exactly what happens outside of your situation. Israeli incursions were a way of life during Fatah rule, of course they would be a way of life during Hamas rule. Do you really expect the average palestinian voter to even think of a difference there?
  7. That's like blaming the entire Sunni population for not stopping the Shia militias. Please.
  8. There is nothing that justifies cutting off 600,000 civilians from power and water. The power station was one of the biggest parts of the private Gazan economy. There are many gazans who have nothing to do with Hamas. Who have nothing to do with terrorism. They just want to make a living, and can't.
  9. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5163072.stm So I understand the need to protect yourself from attack. I understand the need to protect your own, even if they are in harms way. Like the kidnapped soldier. Here's what I don't understand. Rocket attacks from Hamas that literally explode in unpopulated areas. Destroying the only source of power for literally half of the 1.3 million people who live in affected areas. This pretty much also takes away their source of clean drinking water too. Destroying bridges, and houses in the name of security or finding one person. I don't think any side here is right, but the size of destruction that we're seeing over just one person... is both stunning and depressing.
  10. Minnesota law requires that a substitution be made by the party for the ballot should a candidate die prior to election day. The Lautenberg thing did kinda smell. And hey, if DeLay wants to run again - more power to him.
  11. I'm talking about this country in particular.
  12. Real threats aren't made in public. This is the same bluster that North Korea has been spewing for the most of the last fifty years.

  14. It never sounds good. But I can pretty much guarantee it means nothing.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:40 PM) So, where is the outrage over the NY Daily News publishing this story about an investigation in progress? There wasn't a picture of Don Rumsfeld's house attached to the internet.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 08:25 AM) Total personal pref. I can't stand the talking so I'd rather hear all music. I go from one extreme to the other as far as listening to music. Sometimes I buy a CD and love it so much it's all I listen to for weeks. Drives Jim nuts. LOL. I think most people prefer it actually. As much as having your own music is nice, having a show to identify with is better. The problem is, with the ability to entertain yourself increasing, radio has been inexplicably putting people on who can't entertain. I don't understand that.
  17. Hugo Chavez is a bit of a thug. But no worse by any means than any thug that has manhandled a South American country before him. In fact, because a lot of his actions have been geared toward improving the livelihood of Venezuela's poorest, he's a much better thug comparatively than most of the thugs we have running things in this world.
  18. Guess who has a 80% chance of seeing the White Sox play at Yankee Stadium next weekend?
  19. I've found the quality on Sirius' music stations to be subpar in comparison with XM. XM on many of their channels does at least have some on-air personalities rather than the radio jukebox that most of Sirius channels have been - at least as far as my limited radio experience has been. If what I listened to radio for was just music - I'd probably go satellite - but I'm one of those dorks who listens for a total package. It's not enough to have music, I need a personality to bring it all together. When I find it, I listen to it all the time. When I don't, well I use my CD player more and more.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) Why do you think we have worked so hard to get into Pakistans government? I have no doubts NK is on the market right now trying to sell their nuclear stuff to the highest bidder. It hasn't worked. To get into details, we captured AQ Khan - the President even made a big deal in the election two years ago about it. Then we gave him back to Pakistan. We aren't able to speak to him, question him or pump him for information in any way. And he isn't imprisoned as far as I know.
  21. Me thinks you are confusing this candidate with a communist too.
  22. Our worry for nuclear proliferation lies with Pakistan. N. Korea got their technology from AQ Khan who ran the Pakistani nuclear program, then went and sold technology to Iran and N Korea. Currently being protected by the Pakistani government.
  23. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) Geeze, forget to put something in green ONE TIME and you go all crazy on me! OK, I will remember this time. You know, if they recount those ballots down there enough times, I bet Al Gore wins! No but somehow he did get 600 votes.
  24. What I love about this story is at the end when they explain the possibilities. 1. North Korea wanted to show they could hit US targets by aiming close to Hawaii. 2. North Korea wanted to show they could hit the Pacific Fleet. 3. North Korea wanted to make sure they would just hit water, and not land - like if they aimed it towards Alaska.
