  1. Being gay does not necessarily equal having sex. After all, more often than not I wonder where the risk is in my lifestyle. How often can I get HIV from myself?
  2. Hey, if thats his opinion - so be it. He can live his life. What troubles me is that people think that it has to be a big deal.
  3. And of course, all your data to back your claim is so... so.... oh yeah, not present.

    Sox talk

Personally, I think the problem is offense. Giving up three or four runs a game is not a bad outing defensively anymore. We need to do something to warm up our bats. Maybe the problem is the hitting coach. Maybe the problem is JM. Maybe the problem is psychological. I don't think we'll get any improvements by giving JM the s*** can though. If there were real problems with the players not respecting JM, we'd hear it. Loud and clear - and I don't think we do. Further, I don't see anyone worth replacing JM with out there. We could call up a AAA manager, but as a fan, I'd want someone high impact with a measure of success at the Major Leagues to back him up. If we have a postseason caliber team and we're changing managers - we need to make sure who we pick is someone with a history of winning on the Major League Level. The Hawk won't cut it. Felipe Alou, Dusty Baker and Lou Pinella are spoken for. If we were going to make a move this year, we should have done it during the off season. Of course there's always Lee Elia
  5. Great! Now everyone knows my secret!
  6. If youre offended im sorry, but its the truth, and you know it. I'm not offended. Just amazed. You know nothing about me except that I'm a Sox fan and I have a boyfriend, and you're ready to make blanket judgments about my life. Nothing you could possibly say is true. On a different note: I really hope we can pull a win out of this series tomorrow. If we lose the odd series, thats ok... but no more sweeps please.
  7. Bmr: I'd respond, but you aren't worth it.
  8. Thanks dude, with all the love - its starting to feel a little "lifetimey" in here. Seriously, I don't think about it too much, I'm only reminded about it when jackasses open their mouths about how people say hiding it shouldn't be such a big deal. Truth is, life could be much worse for me in Michigan... I could be a Tigers fan. Or live in Flint for that matter... or the Thumb.
  9. I thought so, cause that movie had nothing to do with Watergate.
  10. Why do you think being gay is about sex? How do you think it feels when you can't say - oh "Bill and I went up to Traverse City this weekend"... because you're afraid someone will put two and two together?
  11. She had the eggs already. Perhaps this was a high school crush waiting in the wings.
  12. You know what, I used to feel the same way... then I figured out I liked boys. I work and am not totally out. Do you know how much it sucks day in, day out to not be able to talk about what you did over the weekend with your partner of three years because you're afraid of what will happen if someone finds out you're gay? You're right being gay shouldn't matter. But it does. I hate the fact that I have to watch what I say because in Michigan, like 47 other states in this country, you can be fired for your sexual orientation. So when assholes like this say and think things like this... it makes it harder for gay people to be honest about themselves to themselves and other people. So yeah, it matters.
  13. You can see an Astros game for 5 bucks at the Juice Box. Sorry about referring to it as Comiskey... it still sort of is that way in my head. One of the reasons that I don't like the Sox ownership is precisely because they raise prices for what seems like every year. Aren't the cheap seats 18 dollars this year? Less than ten years ago, there were good seats that sold for 10 bucks. Inflation hasn't increased this much in anything but player salaries. Last year, I made it a point to go see the Sox play in Chicago, even though I lived out of town... but with the prices increasing, and the ability to "upgrade" when only 10,000 people are in the house decreasing, this fan-friendly park seems anything but.
  14. Whats the average attendance been for April in Comiskey Park? Cleveland is down 30 percent, Atlanta and Yanks down significantly too.
  15. I'd bail on the Sox if they moved. There's no reason to... And that would basically be the Sox conceding to the Cubs. Screw that. :fyou
  16. He won last night in Lansing BTW. Asshat that he is.
  17. Well, lets hope PK brings it. I'm looking for a low scoring affair again tomorrow though... so that means the score will be 13-10.
  18. Its the NBA, who really cares?
  19. a 1-0 nothing game is rare enough these days. But a no/no too? Wow.
  20. No offense or nothing, but if youre so convinced that we're dead in the water, why do you still care?
  21. If we were gonna fire JM, who the hell is out there to fill that role? If what we need is a new manager, lets bring in someone with success under the belt, and who will light a fire under some asses. I don't wanna see someone else inept or inexperienced take the helms. People who are so pissed at JM are calling for the Hawk to get the nod as manager? The Hawk? Creator of the Go Go Sox of the late 1980s?
  22. Half the reason I liked going to Sox games is that they were always rowdy affairs.
  23. The worst CF in the league plays for the Tigers. His name is Bocachica. Which means I get to say his name again. Bocachica, Bocachica, Bocachica. :finger :finger
  24. It really depends on where the Dixie Chicks want to go. They seem to be moving to an AC (Adult Contemporary) direction, where political statements don't matter. John Tesh could s*** on an American Flag and nobody would notice - they'd probably be put to sleep ages before with his soothing smooth jazz music. However, if the Dixie Chicks want to stay a Country act, they need to shut the hell up. Before they said what they did, their song "Travelling Soldier" was poised to become the biggest country radio single ever. No song had ever tested as well. But Country listeners tend to be conservative, they tend to remember when artists do stupid things. Here's my working case study: I work at a radio company with a country and an Adult Contemporary station in the building. Neither station pulled the Dixie Chicks after the comment. The country station was flooded with dozens upon dozens of complaints. The AC station got one.
