  1. I hate the bell bottom pants. Bring back the stirrups. And the Bermuda shorts!
  2. Bring back the Bermuda Shorts!
  3. I think it can happen. Ohm........ No doubleplaydoubleplaydoubleplay.... Ohm.... safeatOhm......
  4. Still, everybody seems to forget that the Wizards didn't make money before he came to the franchise. His best decision as president was to start playing again. Is it me or does he end up with ill feelings after everywhere he retires from?
  5. Apparently in the 80s that got so popular with American backpackers that a Canadian flag became understood as an American traveler. Fortunately, I speak French and German fairly well, that the last couple times I was abroad, I've been mistaken for local - which is a mixed bag too.
  6. Didn't Buerhle pitch fairly well? I know its no consolation when you cant get your offense to score one run in support... but the stats I saw showed him having a better start than his last few outings.

    Off to Travel

This June, I'm packing a backpack and heading to Europe for a few months to travel all over the place and really get a feel for it. With any luck, it will be the start of a world wide stomp for me. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you know and ask if you know anyone who might be able to help me find a free place to crash or a place I could earn some cash over across the pond.... I'm keeping a website journal of my preparations and travels. http://www.thisworldtraveler.com If you wanna read it. WinoDj
  8. If we play like crap on the west coast, we still might.
  9. As the Cubs know, as do the Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks... a successful franchise in Chicago needs to rely on marketing, not its talent to make a profit. We've got a good product - even when we lose, we just need to figure out a way to make it saleable.
  10. At least we aren't the Cubs system. What I've seen of their Lansing A team, isn't all that great. After all it is the team they send players after killing animals on the field.
  11. That would be a swing from four games over 500 to 7 games under. Unacceptable.
  12. Mariotti used to be on 1on1 sports all the time. Had a show, except he hardly ever was actually there. So they cancelled the show.
  13. 1. The White Sox will win at least one of the two series this week and be back over .500 ball by Sunday. 2. New hitting coach unless the offense heats up huge on the left coast. 3. If this road trip turns disastrous, JM gone by Monday. 4. Koch on DL. 5. Carlos Lee gets bashed on this board.
  14. maybe he could have what sammy's having?
  15. I wish managers had control over starting lineups. If the All Star Game matters, fans shouldnt be deciding lineups.
  16. Hey, wait I remember Hawk as a GM. When did he ever come up with a good idea? there has to be something wrong here
  17. Why don't they just make Marte the closer anyway? I know they paid Koch to be the closer, but a win's a win, right?
  18. Sosa should be on that list. Making the HOF cause youre a selfish player aiming for the long ball wont get you a ring.
  19. We oughta be looking for new life offensively, coaching or talent. Maybe thats what KW's up to.
  20. From the Detroit News... Mike Veeck, the marketing person behind the St. Paul (Minn.) Saints and Tigers, is making news in St. Paul with some wacky promotions. The Saints, an independent team, have scheduled a Randy Moss Hood Ornament Night on Aug. 16, celebrating an incident last year when Moss, a Vikings receiver, drove two blocks with a traffic-control officer on the hood of his car. The Saints have a number of other wacky promotions, including one that is a natural for the Tigers -- Guaranteed Loss Night. The others are: Cow Appreciation Night (June 10), Christmas Tree Giveaway (July 9) and St. Paul -- the real saint -- Bobblehead Night (July 14). The Saints' promotions are in relatively good taste. Some other teams' aren't. The Bisbee-Douglass Copper Kings of the Arizona-Mexico League will hold Ted Williams Night on June 3. The First 500 fans get a Popsicle. Williams' body was frozen after his death. The Class A Quad City River Bandits have decided to call off their "Larry Eustachy's Iowa State Night at the Ballpark." It featured a kissing booth and $1 beer. Eustachy, who resigned Monday as Iowa State men's basketball coach, recently admitted he is an alcoholic, after photos of him partying with Missouri students were published.
  21. I'll admit - I'm getting disillusioned with the team, and I'm wondering if JM is the problem - but I only get to see Tigers games and whatever else is on GN... so I don't know if the offense is just cold or if they really aren't hustling. If the first one is the problem - than I can't blame JM... but if its the second one, show that asshat the door.
  22. Indeed. Personally, I think the hope is mainly because they haven't been mathematically eliminated yet, unlike most years.
  23. I think we could be pleasantly surprised. Mark's due for a good outing sooner or later. Hope its tonight. If the clubhouse is doing their job, all the bad press is on their bulletin board as they head out. I get the feeling everyone's expecting them to fail - and since when have they done what we expected this season? After all, weren't we supposed to be running away with it by now?
  24. Another bad west coast trip and JM is gone, I figure. But I don't think he should be.
