  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) The chance of Flowers needing to be taken out of a game seems rather remote and I could see a team risking a pitcher having to bat and only carrying two catchers. I would be fine with carrying only two catchers if need be. If you have a guy at another position who can catch if absolutely necessary it's a help, but not a necessity. The problem is that I think that having three catchers is a necessity in Ozzies mind, so having both A. J. and Flowers in the same lineup probably won't happen.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) Wonder if they might be shoring things up in case there was really some truth to that Jacoby to the White Sox rumor? Jacoby! Nooooooooo! Let's get B. A. back.
  3. QUOTE (everafan @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) If you have a catcher also DHing you need to carry 3 catchers on the roster. Retheford will not do. Why won't Retherford do? He has caught before and your third catcher would at most catch a few innings in an emergency situation. The possibility of even needing the emergency catcher is pretty low anyway, It's not like he would be catching a game every week.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) I would say now getting married this offseason should be his only "hump" till ST hits.
  5. Tribune is now questioning if this deal is done.
  6. Maybe the Sox are leaking this to distract media while Mr. "under the radar" Williams is really working on something much bigger!
  7. The White Sox MLB site only addresses this trade with a question mark and the Royals G. M. is not confirming this deal. Does anyone know if this trade is confirmed by anyone other than the N. Y. Times and Cowley?
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) There ya go. Thank you Rowand. You da man!
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) we all know KW likes to make the big splashes, but I think Gordo is the one player thats not going anywhere I would tend to agree. I'm just saying that with Kenny you can never say never.
  10. For some reason I can't get the link to work. If someone could fix this for me it would be greatly appreciated. It basically says that his hip feels much better, but I get the idea that it still might not be totally gone. He also talks about how he grew up nieghbors with Mark Texiera.
  11. This is great news! Gavin was my biggest concern of the starting rotation. I hope that the link works this time. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) you wanna trade Beckham for Votto? Maybe not straight up but it depends on who else would be involved.
  13. I am so happy that the World Series is over and I didn't care who won anyway. Now this site is "happening" again!
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:25 AM) Wait...what? Do people still not get that Beckham is the face of the franchise the next 10-15 years? I do agree that Beckham is pretty close to untouchable, and I don't really care to see him moved, but we should remember that we have a G. M. who thinks big. If you want the A. Gonzales' or Joey Vottos' of the world we have to give up something big as well. Kenny may just have the balls to pull something like this off if he thinks that it will help the Sox in the long run.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:17 AM) If true it opens the door for a Polanco signing. I like this idea.
  16. Again, I want to emphasize that I do not know, I'm just asking. Wouldn't the fact that he was originally drafted in 2005, but instead of going pro chose to have 3 years of college ball, be the equivalent of having a couple more seasons of minor league training. I would also think that since the Sox did send him to Arizona, where he is performing fairly well, means that they think that he's a little closer than 2 years away. Didn't he have a fairly significant wrist injury that probably greatly affected his numbers this past season?
  17. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,4709685.story I thought that this article in the Tribune had some good information. My question is (from someone who has never seen him play) "How close to the majors is Jordan Danks?" Maybe his wrist injury held him back quite a bit last season.
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) No, put if we could move Paulie as part of a 3-team it might work. Not that Danks and Floyd are untouchable. But I REALLY like our rotation for the next 3 years. The fact that we should have a dominant rotation for the next few seasons is one reason that I believe that it would be a good idea to go after someone like Gonzalez. I doubt that the Padres would have any need for Pauly, with the exception of having him for a trading chip in July, and personally I wouldn't touch the rotation either. Other than Beckham though, anyone else on the major or minor league roster is fair game. Padres fans have to know that they will be bad for a few years in the shape that they're currently in. I would think that the fans, at least the knowledgeable ones would see the benefit of trading Gonzales for prospects to brighten their future. As always, JMHO.
  19. Gee, ask questions around here and you get answers! That's cool. Thanks Kalapse.
  20. Doesn't Mark Buehrle have full no trade rights now? I would think that it would be very doubtful if he would approve of a trade to the Nationals.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 07:42 AM) Nope My bad, I was thinking that he was.
  22. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) I think the whole post season ticked me off when looking at how the Yankees will only have used 3 starters and then only once would they have pitched on three days rest CC game 4 becasue of the backward ass tv schedule. This postseason has almost made me not like baseball. I am tired of the Red Sox and Yankees and even the Angels for that matter and the National League is so bad it is pathetic. I can honestly say that I've lost interest in the post season as well. For me I think that it is because it has dragged out soooo long. All the wasted time between series, and even between games in the series on occaision. I know it's all about the almighty dollar but jeez. Here it is October 27th and the series hasn't even started yet. The Sox ended theirs on the 26th in 2005 and I thought that was too late. My thoughts have long gone to other things, baseball ends in mid October in my mind. I'm sure if the "Beloved" were still in it I would be interested, but this is the hot stove season to me. I also just think that the cold weather effects some players more than others so you really don't get the same result as if you played the game in nice weather. Oh well, JMHO.
  23. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) direct link to beckham podcast some good stuff here, particularly about thome. This is why I'm kind of split on the Thome decision. I know he's getting up in age but even with that in mind, if he can hit 25 homers, 70 -80 rbi, the lefthanded presence in the center of the line up and his influence on the younger guys, I'm leaning towards bringing him back for another season, at the right price of course.
  24. QUOTE (quade36 @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) Then when AJ leaves, we'll have another RH in Flowers. Isn't Flowers lefthanded?
