No. Moncada's in a slump and he still puts together a professional PA 50% of the time. Eloy doesn't. That's the difference. I can't complain about Moncada's slump as much as Eloy because Moncada still works the pitcher and walks every now and then. Eloy just puts together crap PAs.

When Eloy is hot he's excellent but when he's in a slump he's infuriating.

I couldn't agree more. That guy is spot on. All of the problems that plagued the franchise in 2016 are still alive and well.

Grandal and Moncada are the only hitters in the lineup who know how to work the count. That's why he's batting 3rd. Also MOAR GROUND BALLS. I love the Sox. I go full meatball in gamethreads. if you don't like it......

It's not like I expect his FA signings to be any good anyway. I'm expecting Keuchel to get blown up in the next game or two such that all of his offseason acquisitions look like crap. I'm of the opinion that he never should have been allowed to re-build this team in the first place. I'm cautiously optimistic about Moncada, Robert and Anderson but besides them I'm fairly confident the rest of the lineup sucks.

I was only expecting to tender him if he took a step or two forward. It was a gamble on a young player that still has upside. If it doesn't work, move on and take your lumps. Knowing the Sox they'll give him next year too.

I think EE without as many walks is a good comp for Eloy honestly.
