8.15.20 GT | Cards @ Sox game 2 | 3:15PM

They're giving him the Eloy/Robert treatment and it's working. Throw high fastballs and breaking balls out of the zone and he's swinging at them. They're not throwing him strikes. -

No arguments actually. Does Nomar Mazara sucks count? -

I was hopeful on Giolito as a true #1 but he's looking like a strong #2. Has flashes of dominance but not consistent enough to be an ace. There's a lot riding on Kopech right now. Given how bad Giolito was in 2018 I think we'll all take that. -

Him, Eloy even Moncada a bit. I'm willing to give Moncada a pass moreso than others because of having covid. The stuff that made Giolito successful is still there but the command isn't as much. Like I said I think Giolito's delivery is a bit off. The only hitters on the team I'm even cautiously optimistic on are Anderson, Moncada and Robert. -

I stand corrected. What I meant is that EE's ABs vs RHP should go to Collins. -

Covid related brain fog. Look it up it's a thing. He's a little off in everything. Willing to give him a mulligan this year for that. -

It's about the only positive there is this year. It's not good when everyone who brought hope the year before regresses and makes you wonder how good they actually are. -
If a Cardinals situation happens to the Reds you'd have to think that's it for the season.

No arguments. The options that only cost money were all right handed and they desperately need another left handed hitter though. We'd all have rather traded for Pedersen and we'll leave it at that. -

The Rangers tendered Mazara a contract and Walker will be 24 before he plays a game in AA so no big loss. Nomar Mazara is 15 months older than Steele Walker. I'll take the guy who's shown to at least be meh in the Bigs. -

There's real reasons to be concerned about Eloy. The power is legit but the hit tool and plate discipline suck. He's been exposed a bit at the MLB level. He's unplayable in the field, so he has to hit for average and walk a bit otherwise he might not be an MLB player. -

Nobody's talking about the complete power outage from Grandal. I hate to say this, but dude was busted for Roids once so you have to wonder a bit. -

Mazara was worth the gamble. At least they only wasted 50 games on him rather than 162. He's only been back for a week though, so maybe give him some more time. If Mazara doesn't work it didn't cost much. I'd definitely like to see a straight platoon of Collins and Encarnacion the rest of the season, even though I'm not a fan of Collins. Make sure that he sucks before moving on. -

How is what I said ridiculous and these posts are acceptable? My thoughts and Fathom's are exactly the same. -

I'm having this sinking feeling that they might only be as good as they were in 2016. Maybe win 82 games if everything goes right. -

I'm thinking back to when Giolito had issues with his velocity being inconsistent in 2018 and I think it has to do with his release point. When his release point is messed up he loses velocity and command. He needs to hit the video room with Cooper. -

I honestly don't know how much of his velocity drop is due to the short ramp up period. This is a weird season. I probably shouldn't be too harsh on anyone but I'm annoyed because I expected more from some guys. BTW Giolito's fastball is only down .8 mph from 94.2 in 2019 to 93.4 this year. I haven't seen him hit 96-97 since his start against Cleveland though. -

Ok I thought Delmon Young had more game power than he did. Looking for another guy. Basically what I was saying was that Eloy looks like he might be a .260/.310/.800 guy. If he's playing defense like crap idk if that's very valuable. -

I'm legit concerned Eloy might be Delmon Young at this point. Too early to make any conclusions about Robert. Moncada has been fine and even if he goes into a slump for a bit covid is a legit injury as there are more issues with it than just being sick. -

Can someone explain why the entire Sox offense is incapable of hitting the ball in the air? It's just groundout after groundout. -

Won't help. It's HIS 1st inning that he has an issue with. It wouldn't matter if he came in during the 1st or 3rd inning he'd still have command issues. -
