  1. Bumgarner. He still has the gopher ball issues. I wouldn't be thrilled with MadBum, but I'd be content.
  2. Bumgarner with his gopher ball issues in either Citizen's Bank or GRF would be a disaster.
  3. Well sure, but it is going to be players like Wood, Roark, Pineda, etc.
  4. I'm convinced that if the Sox strike out on Wheeler the rest of the offseason will be bantha fodder. (yes, I'm a star wars guy) Pudu.......hoo hoo hoo hoo
  5. Yes it is. I have no idea why more teams don't frontload FA contracts, You're paying the most when the player is at his best, and protecting yourself during the decline years. It makes a ton of sense.
  6. I understand why you think that....I get the fastball velo difference, etc. I just have trouble committing 6 years to a player with the track record Wheeler has in the NL. Let's put it this way.....Wheeler at 6/140 is a good signing for the Astros or Reds, but not the White Sox. I trust them to maximize his ability much more than I do the White Sox.
  7. Strasburg is risky too.....no doubt. I just think the ceiling is higher there. I'd rather take the risk on someone who has more of a track record of excellence. I wouldn't expect greatness for the last few seasons, but that's the price of doing business.
  8. I'd do 6 years and a higher AAV for Strasburg though. Still, a down year for Strasburg is the season that Wheeler just put up in 2019. I'd definitely do the 8 year $250 for Cole though.
  9. I'm out at 6 years. At some point, common sense has to take over.
  10. They're not pretending. They are right on the border of a small and mid market team.
  11. Disagree to be honest. Especially on Cole. Look at how Scherzer has worked out for the Nationals. Elite talent is elite talent. If you can get it, you do it. I think that Wheeler at 6 years is way too risky. If you have to go 6 years on Wheeler, I'd rather spend the extra money on Cole/Strasburg.
  12. Apples and oranges. Corbin has more going for him than Wheeler does.
  13. Yeah, this is where I'm at. Once you get into Corbin territory, the risk outweighs the reward.
  14. Those who have buried their Wheeler plans already believe that the price has become insane.
