While that is true, it seems like they really outsmarted themselves here.

Preach, Balta. Tell everyone how much of a clown Rick, Kenny and Jerry are.

All of the above is the correct answer.

QFT.

They didn't deserve to be the architects of this rebuild. They both should have been shitcanned in June 2016. They were the Bulls from 2013-16 before the Bulls were the Bulls. The Bulls have just caught up to the Sox in terms of their incompetence.

They sound a lot like the 45 admin right now. Can't even get their lies straight.

He's a switch hitter, so that isn't good.

Who is available in 2020? Looking ahead to the future

This. Given that there isn't a snowball's chance in hell that Harper signs here, the answer is nothing. -

Get Jay and Alonso the fuck off the team as quickly as possible. At this point, Palka should get Alonso's ABs at DH. They're going to get it from ignorant fans. It isn't their fault, and if you're pissed don't go to the games. -
If it was about winning an MVP, you can't compete with Mike Trout. I don't blame him there.
-
I'm going to laugh my ass off if the Padres get both. This whole thing is just comical at this point.

I don't think that Lozano contacted the Sox. I don't think that is how these things actually work. Each team is somewhat blind in the process and the only people who knew what the offers actually are were, were Machado and Lozano. Why would you give out numbers? He could say: We have a higher offer, can you beat it?, But they aren't going to actually give out numbers between the teams.

No kidding. I think JR is cheap and there are no excuses. Don't lie to your fanbase like this. Had they said they were out, it wouldn't hurt as badly.
-
Agreed. I wasn't expecting them to sign either player, but I wasn't expecting them to sign for as little as they did either. 10/300 is a bargain. No excuses.
-
I said that recently when they got involved and everyone laughed at me.
-
They've done a really good job of alienating what's left of their fanbase.....Bravo! Don't be surprised when the Sox move to Charlotte or Portland in 5-6 years.
-
To be fair to those guys they should give them their release right now. Let them go find work elsewhere. Eat the money and take the L. If you actually care about them as a human you wouldn't subject them to the vitriol that is going to come their way from ignorant fans. Also, if the Sox weren't going over $300M I was wrong about them actually being serious. They were never serious at all. We're all fools for thinking they were.
-
I was actually more relieved instead of pissed/disappointed when I thought that the Sox were going to miss on both guys and they were going to SD and PHI last night.
-
This is hilarious, but I can't control the size of the memes that I post. I about died laughing with this one.

Office Space rules!

I don't think it is a stunt, I think the Sox are about as high on Madrigal as BP is. They believe him to be a top 20 prospect in the game.
-
This is what a pessimist looks like people. If you think that, you probably should find something else to do with your summers for the next decade. If this happens, nothing else matters. They get Manny or Harper? So what. they'd be the only good player on a team of scrubs. I completely disagree and think a lot of the guys are going to take a huge step forward this year.
-
Agreed. I didn't mind the pick at the time, because there was a lot of smoke about the Sox going with Singer, and I hated him. Anyone but Singer. The more I hear about Madrigal, the less I like him. With Madrigal it all depends on 1) how many hits he gets and 2) how many of those are 2B and 3B. I don't expect him to hit more than 5-10 HR in a given year. he's going to have to hit 45-55 2B and 5-10 3B in order to be a decent player.
