  1. Idk why Arenado didn't go for the force at 3rd with a gimpy Contreras running.
  2. If that team in clown pajamas is going to win, please, anyone but Contreras. He's such an asshat.
  3. Both Stone and Farmer need to go..... I really like Benetti and I can get used to him. I really wish AJP wanted to do color commentary. I don't think he does though. He and JB would be great together. When he does the playoffs for Fox he's great.
  4. Seconded. 1-0 Rox after 1/2 inning. Ump changed his zone after Lester was having trouble finding the plate. Cue conspiracy theories .
  5. 1) How many spots do they have to clear for Rule V 2) who is eligible that isn't on the 40 man that you'd be ok leaving exposed?
  6. That is what he believes. Every time someone gets caught, a new masking agent appears. It works for a while, until MLB drug testers beat that one, and so on. He believes the roiders are one step ahead of the MLB Anti-Doping agency.
  7. Awesome news. Hope it remains so through spring training next year and forever after that.
  8. I'm going to post in response to the NFL thread here, so I can keep my promise about not posting there until after the NE game. 1. Pace went for it with the Mack trade. There is no plan B I guess. If Trubisky sucks and they waste this defensive group, I don't want to hear any b****ing from anyone in 3 years. I expect to hear a lot of "awe shucks" from everyone. I applaud Pace for his massive cajones. 2. I'm just as excited as everyone else about them starting 3-1. If Mitch is good, they're immediately right up there with the Rams for the kings of the NFC. The roster is pretty complete aside from Trubisky's development. 3. I'm not waiting for the NE game to shove "Mitch Sucks, told ya so" into everyone's face. Belichick beat Peyton Manning at his peak in playoff games 4 times for pete's sake. Obviously Mitch gets graded on a curve for this game. This is more of a If he shows anything that is a really good sign, if not write it off because it's Belichick. 4. I was getting concerned after the 1st few games with Trubisky because he was having trouble reading defenses and throwing left. He showed none of that Sunday. Sunday was the first game he looked like a real NFL QB. I don't know how anyone can argue otherwise. Up until then, I hadn't seen anything better than meh from him. 5. My whole bit about "Mitch sucks until proven otherwise" was me protecting myself from getting excited about a QB and let down again. It was irrational, I told you guys I understood that, and I didn't care. It was a schtick that I have that I shouldn't have shared publicly. Leave me alone about that. Everyone knows the suckage at QB the Bears have had over the years, from Harbaugh, to Mirer, to McNown, Grossman, etc. Grossman's 2006 taught me a lot about not jumping to conclusions that someone is good. To me, they have to prove it over multiple seasons. How is that unreasonable? I waver from very skeptical to cautiously optimistic on any Bears QB. I never go further than cautiously optimistic. 6. I don't think that Mitch has actually proven he sucks or doesn't. Realistically, the jury is still out. 7. Tony, I feel personally attacked by you in the NFL thread. Please lay off. I shouldn't have shared that schtick publicly. I get it. 8. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the Bears. They have the most complete roster they've had since I can remember individual football games starting in 1993. This team goes as Mitch goes. If he's good, they have a 3 year window to win 2 Super Bowls. 9. Go Bears! Talk to you guys in 3 weeks in the NFL Thread. Cheers!
  9. Fangraphs wrote an article about the fact that they're devaluing pitchers just for being pitchers. Any pitcher that would have a 55-60 FV is automatically downgraded to a 45-50 just because they're a pitcher. They are now heavily biased toward position players being at the top. It is their philosophy due to attrition for pitching prospects. Basically, they buy into the theory that there is no such thing as a pitching prospect.
  10. No. More about the cap space and salary structure. Just leave me alone and ruminate amongst yourselves until after the NE game. I'll make an appearance after I have 2 more games to evaluate Trubisky on. I really want to see him against a Belichick defense before making any more judgment calls on him. I've said what I am going to say.
  11. Agreed. Not arguing that. Again, I argued for acquiring Mack in August. The trade itself was great. All I was saying is that the success and failure of this team all comes down to Trubisky, and they should have an "in case of emergency, break glass" plan B in the event he sucks badly enough that they're going to waste the defense. That shouldn't be controversial or a ridiculous thought. I hope it doesn't come to that, but we have to see. I just hope if that does occur, he has a plan to create the cap space to acquire a QB that can do enough to win one SB for them. Again No more questions. I don't want to make another post in this thread until after they play NE at Soldier Field in 3 weeks.
  12. He has to have the depth necessary to create the cap space to have that option if it comes to that.
  13. I'm not trying to shit upon it. I agree let's just watch and enjoy the remainder of this season and let it play out. I'm done posting in this thread until after they play NE in 3 weeks. See you then. I don't see anything wrong with saying they shouldn't waste a great defensive unit for the second time in 15 years because of incompetence at QB. It isn't to that point yet, but they should be prepared for the possibility that it occurs. Pace should learn from Angelo's mistakes.
  14. Nobody does, because we're not a fly on the wall. That doesn't mean that a GM isn't beyond criticism by anyone other than ownership. We make do with the data that is available to us as fans. Ownership and the other people in the FO are the only ones that have a complete data set. Are you saying that they are the only ones qualified to evaluate a GM's performance? I guess we should all STFU and say they know more about their respective sport than we ever will and take whatever they say as gospel. Do you see how ridiculous that sounds?
  15. Jeez, What is wrong with an "In case of emergency, break glass" plan where there is a distinct plan B if the worst case scenario occurs. All I was saying, Albeit verbosely, was that it is his job to have that plan behind the glass. I'm just concerned they don't have the cap flexibility and draft capital to have that plan available to them, should they need it.
  16. No. He needs to have a contingency plan in 2019-2020 if Mitch hasn't shown enough by then. I don't think he should have drafted his successor, it isn't time for that yet. Depending on #10's performance the remainder of this season he should in a top notch vet backup next year(he should probably do that regardless in event of injury), and if Mitch still sucks by 2020, he should have a decent option to replace him. No QB should be drafted early until 2020 at earliest. I just wish they had a 1st rounder just in case. Maybe they can trade to the bottom half if need be with their 2 2nds. I just don't want them to waste this defense's prime. They need to have a quick trigger finger on Mitch in order to maximize the defense's best years. Pace has made his own bed with this roster construction and salary structure. He needs to make the right moves accordingly with where they are now. If Mitch is great, none of this matters but I'm just saying I hope he has a plan B that he can break the glass of in case of emergency.
  17. According to FG, which is the only one who has HS/NCAA combined: 1. Rutschman C/Oregon St. 2. C. J. Abrams, SS/GA HS 3. Bryson Stott, SS/UNLV 4. Corbin Carroll, OF/WA HS 5. Michael Bush, OF/North Carolina 6. Andrew Vaughn, 1B/California Other Players 9. Bobby Witt Jr., SS/TX HS 11. Shea Langliers, C/Baylor Admittedly, FG has been weird in their scouting reports lately, so take it with a grain of salt.
  18. Yes. I just thought it would be worse optics if he somehow took off this season and left in March via FA, than to cut him now and eat the cap space. In the worst case scenario, he takes up a roster spot that should go to a special teamer at league minimum, and it is dead cap either way. If that cap space was taken up in any event, it is better to have a player that occupies a useful roster spot toward winning football games, rather than waste a roster spot for another year on what is most likely a lost cause. If Kevin White is going to become a decent NFL receiver, it isn't going to happen in Chicago. Cut your losses and move on. I'd rather have Wims get White's playing time.
