  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 21, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) Ordonez needs 207 more PAs for his $15 mill option next year to vest. And the Tigers are shedding like $50 million off of their payroll this offseason. They will have money to spend, which is why I think a trade for Aramis Ramirez can't be ruled out. Hopefully the Cubs stay hot and think they can get back in the race and they don't trade Ramirez away. Their rotation really isn't that good (Verlander-Bonderman-Porcello-Galaragga-Scherzer really is not that great...talented, but not great), they're getting mediocre production in their middle infield, they are getting no production out of their catchers, and there is reason to believe that Boesch is going to fall off hard in the second half. On top of that, they do have a very difficult second half schedule. It's not going to be easy for the Tigers to win the division. He's a hell of a lot better then Mark Kotsay is right now. www.coolstandings.com gives the Tigers a 10 percent chance of making the playoffs.
  2. Today the Arlington Heights (Il) Herald says the Nats want Beckham for Dunn. Uh, no.
  3. Never gonna happen. Just Rogers filling up space. Wrap your fish in this junk.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 06:09 AM) I thought we did last year in the last game at the Metrodome, but I could be mistaken. You're right. Beckham hit one to close the gap, and I think it was PK who hit the game winner. Not a walkoff of course.
  5. QUOTE (The Beast @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) If we were Cub fans, this would be a perfect thread to discuss Lou and Hendry's relationship or Bradley and Hendry's relationship. But we're not Cub fans - we're White Sox fans. Thus, this has no relevance to our success this year so I think the thread should be deleted. If we were Cub fans..... we'd be drinking beer and ignoring bad baseball.
  6. If they couldn't afford Nick Johnson, I doubt that they have 4 million for Damon. I'm all for improving the pen, but if they got Downs, I doubt that they'd offer arbitration down the road for picks; we don't seem to do that a whole lot around here.
  7. I live in Chicago. If I subscribe to mlb.com, will any White Sox games be available to me?
  8. Doesn't C. J. Retherford sound like he'd fit in Ozzie ball.10?

  10. He was also awful in 2008 from mid august on. It looks like he can't keep his performance up for the whole grind anymore.
  11. I've had this thought for a while, and here's a good place to use it. Jake Peavy kept the Tigers out of the playoffs last year. He beat them twice in the final 10 days. They wind up tied with Minny. Bet the Tigers would've preferred to face Clayton Richard. Peavy will be must-see TV this year.
  12. Sounds like there's a long way to go, but here's the link: http://www.southtownstar.com/business/1979...0jimbos.article
  13. I don't know if they were the best, but they were certainly my favorite.
  14. Texas players have at times been associated with peds. I'd pass.
  15. Doesn't Mark have no trade - yeah, he's 5 and 10, right? He'd probably only accept the Cardinals.
  16. The Trib quotes ESPN as saying Matsui is heading for the Angels. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2009/...ith-angels.html
  17. Imagine if he went to the Cubs and started an interleague game at the Cell.
  18. He would have had 3 MVP awards had it not been for Steroidal Giambi. The list of 3 time mvps is short and stellar. Frank is a certain HOFer.
  19. QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) When I say, "That's a home run," my assistant pushes a button that sends an electric charge under the field that illuminates a light behind the scoreboard alerting pyrotechnicians to flip off the safety switch that activates the fireworks. It takes three seconds Umm can't the pyrotechnicians just get a live feed of the game? even the umps need a replay nowadays
  20. Yesterday, I found an old article in the Sun Times. The Sox scoreboard directions supervisor said the bottles were produced in the late 1910's and early 1920's during prohibition. Apparently, the Sox were the first ever to produce orange soda. Thanks for trying to confirm this for me.
  21. Does anyone know when the Sox made their own pop? My foggy memory says they did it during prohibition. Can anyone confirm this?
  22. The wife and I were about 10 rows away from where Paulie's ball landed. Best. Game. Ever. Nothing comes close. Thanks for posting the video.
