  2. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) yeah you have those things on New Years day. Sorry to be a spoiler here, but Harold ain't no hall of famer. Cool Frank thomas hall of fame stone
  3. QUOTE(smalls2598 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Although it is a good day to be a Sox fan, I'm also a bit depressed. My dad passed away earlier this year; he was a huge Sox fan. Of course, he is the one who made my brother, sister and myself into a Sox fan, and also converted my mom from Cubs to Sox. He was the one that first brought me to Sox games at Old Comiskey Park and taught me all the rules, how to keep score and all the stories of Sox History. He was there with me at a 93 playoff game vs the Jays, and we watched the Sox win the 2000 Central Division. And after turning 21, we shared quite a few beers while watching the Cubs collapse in the 2003 playoffs. As stupid or odd as it may have seemed, I dedicated this season to him. And when the Sox had everything going their way in the first half, it seemed that maybe he had something to do with it! So now that the Sox have wrapped up a playoff spot, it feels great, but it would be so much better if he was with me to celebrate. There is nothing more I'd love tonight than to share a celebratory beer with you. So to you Dad; the Sox did this for you! Sorry About your pops man. You go and have a beer for him, he has to be smiling right now from up there. As stupid or odd as it may have seemed, I dedicated this season to him. And when the Sox had everything going their way in the first half, it seemed that maybe he had something to do with it! No man that's very cool. To you and your pops you can never stop learning good things in life and one is being a Whitesox fan through good and bad. This is you and your pops

    Relax

    QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) That's confusing Josh. Look at the magic number thread. 1 win = at least WC tie 2 wins = playoff berth 3 wins = division title That's the simplest way to put it. I wanna know what happens if the tribe and Sox end up tied. And either one would be division/Wild Card winner. I think the Number to focus on is 2

    Relax

    Ok look it's like this. The Sos Win tonight and Yanks or Red Sosx lose the sox would clinch a tie for the wild card. If the Red Sox lose and the Sox only win tonight what's left of there games, then the yanks would have to sweep the Red Sox and the Sox would be the wild card. Sox would end up 95 - 67 and The Red Sox 94 - 66. Now remember either Boston or the yanks have assured at least two more losses. Another Scenario is that The tribe only has to lose 1 game they have left, 1 game!!! Of course the Sox need 2 victories. If the Sox win today and tommorow they'll be 96-63. The Tribe would be back 3 on Friday, they would have to sweep us just to tie. Catch is is if happens. Sox and Indians would be tied for the division lead, but!! The Wild card too. Cause the wild card would come out of the Central. Which i really hope happens. Now if that scenario happens, who wins the division? Wo wins the Wild card? How does MLB sort this out. Remember if this scenario happens, The Red Sox or the Yanks don't have a shot at the Wild card. So the SOx just need to go 2-3
  7. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) Oz isn't getting the job done but few managers available for hire out there would with this lineup. This guy in my avatar will be available next year but I doubt he'd come here anyways. That's what happens when a team is CHEAP
  8. Pitched well. But he sould have over 20 wins already. Ohh well maybe next year
  9. Bench his ass. Why? one thing is going bad and doing lil things for the team and try, another is free swining like he's trying to hit a piñata
  10. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) After a lot of thinking, I think we will win this division when it is all said and done. We have played our worst baseball and the Injuns have played their best. The Injuns will trip soon .....and we will get back to what we were doing We are STILL leading this division. It may take us to win the last series at Cleveland, but I think we get it done. GO SOX ..... AND YES CLEVELAND SUCKS I hope they trip soon. Like losing tommorow and at least one to the Rays while the sox sweep. 3.5 games going into friday
  11. Did you guys take away the list at the bottom of all the posters active on the board?
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:29 AM) And if that's what he actually said, it would have been clear what he meant. However, he definitely said that he had no problem if Perralta lined a ball off the fence for a double. DJ makes me sometimes
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Was I the only one who thought DJ had absolutely no idea what he was talking about in the 9th inning last night? He kept saying that it was better to let Perralta hit a bullet off the wall, rather than walking him leading off the inning. Did DJ know it was a one run game? If it's a two run game, that's a whole different story. However, a walk in that situation is much better than a leadoff double. I saw some people saying that they would have rather seen Jenks give up a homer than a walk? I know there's a big sense of doom with this team now, but YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME! I still vehemently disagree with Ozzie playing the infield back after the Rowand debacle. Oh well, we won....but DJ still has me shaking my head. What he's trying to say is, that the batter sould earn his way on, by geing the basehit than the pitcher just giving him the base by walking him
  14. Never have searched. Heck didn't know it exists. Learn something new everyday :lol
  15. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) Cubs Ace like it or not is Prior- All of Buehrle's stats are better than Prior's this year. He is much better than Prior IMHO. Red Sox? Schilling has sucked this year but he is an Ace- he has sucked this year. (Had a bad year but is a proven ace) Yanks? Forgot a guy named Randy Johnson- Buehrle has better stats (Stats don't make an ACE. Check out Jeff Suppan's stats. Is he an ACE?) Brewers? Ben Sheets Baby (Of course he got hurt)- Never won 14 games but is a very good pitcher. Wouldn't take him over Buehrle just yet. I would, give him the hitting buehrle has had. Of course the brewers are bad that's why. Again only looking at Stats A's? Barry Zito, but i think he's more in Mark's mold Potential Aces (POTENTIAL I MEAN IN THE FUTURE, NEXT YEAR OR SO) Royals Zack Greinke- He has sucked this year (Maddux sucked in 86 too) Mariners Felix Hernandez- He is a ROOKIE Tampa Bay Scott Kazmir- Not a great year. Pirates Oliver Perez- He has had a brutal year Nats John Patterson- Huh? He is good because he pitches in the best pitchers park in baseball (Really? Now go look at the stats, almost 9 k's per 9 innings, 2 somethign ERA) Tigers Jeremy Bonderman- Again his stats are better. A's Rich Harden- Has never sustained his success over a full season. (Got ACE's stuff as does almost all on this list) Ok Ok Let me see if I get understood here.
  16. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) The 2nd inning? I think he looks dehydrated by the 2nd pitch.
  17. Heh! I hope we can win this division. My Mom will be 50 on sunday and has been a fan for a long time, she doesn't post on boards but she suffers too
  18. THANK YOU SOX FOR A BIRTHDAY VICTORY Now win more give my momma a fan for 44 years the division !

  21. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) look let's face it there are a lot of teams he would be the ace of: Yankees Red Sox Devil Rays Indians Royals Angels A's Mariners Braves Nationals Phillies Cubs Brewers Reds Pirates Rockies Dodgers Giants Padres Rangers Diamondbacks Tigers Orioles the only teams that aren't on the list are the Cardinals(Carpenter), Twins(Santana), Marlins(Willis), Houston (Clemens). That's pretty damn good in my opinion. Colon is so hit or miss. He will either pitch a gem or suck. Also even though im a huge Peavy fan he hasn't done what Buehrle has for the period of time Buehrle has. Right now Buehrle is on pace for 250 wins in his career. Peavy also pitches in a huge pitchers park. Lay off the Kool Aid Kid. I think the point was made HE'S NO ACE. Good pitcher yes. A good number 2, ACE? NOT A CHANCE IN HELL. Giants Ace Jason Schmidt (Hurt this Year) Cubs Ace like it or not is Prior Angels? Colon and Lackey may say somethign about that Red Sox? Schilling has sucked this year but he is an Ace Yanks? Forgot a guy named Randy Johnson Braves? John Smoltz and Tim Hudson will give ya a ride for your cash Padres? What in the Heck is Peavy. Brewers? Ben Sheets Baby (Of course he got hurt) A's? Barry Zito, but i think he's more in Mark's mold Potential Aces Diamond Backs Brandon Webb Royals Zack Greinke Mariners Felix Hernandez Tampa Bay Scott Kazmir Pirates Oliver Perez Nats John Patterson Tigers Jeremy Bonderman A's Rich Harden
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) :banghead Thanks guys, made better what has been a sucky day
