  9. QUOTE(JoshPR @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Seattle was in 1993 Yas. But Let me look it up, just to be sure Sorry Yas, You were Correct My Bad That Saturday night the Sox waited out a rain delay and took a 3-1 lead into the 9th before the Mariners rallied to tie the game. In the bottom half, with almost 46 thousand on hand, Bill Caudill walked Cruz, Rudy Law and Fisk to load the bases. In came Ed Vande Berg to face Baines who hit a sacrifice fly to win the game and the title. Lorn Brown and Early Wynn were on hand. Courtesy: WMAQ radio.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Hmmmm ... I thought it was Seattle. Oh well. Seattle was in 1993 Yas. But Let me look it up, just to be sure
  11. I read that Fields could be looked at as a Firstbaseman
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Cruz scored it on a sac fly. Not sure who hit it, but Harold sounds right. It was Baines. I remember watching the flashback vid. The place went nuts. It was against Texas
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) I was trying to get a feel for this team by comparing them to another of the Sox teams that I have seen. I came to the conclusion that this team really resembles the 1983 team in a lot of ways. They have speed at the top of the order, thump in the middle of the order, great range on defense, and an entirely solid pitching staff. Opinions? Any other better teams to compare these guys too? The early 80's is about as far back as I remember well. I think the 1983 weren't that good on defense. The rest is pretty acuarate. I think the 1983 staff was somewhat more solid tho. I just hope this bunch doesn't do that bad in the playoffs
  14. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 05:53 AM) I just know that our pitchers seem to give up a lot of walks followed by home runs. Maybe they can cut that down and we will win a few more games? Pretty simple analysis. Maybe I can get a job as a baseball analyst/writer? You'll surely do better than that dumbass Harold Reynolds on BBT
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 05:40 AM) I don't know and I don't care. Was it asked after all of the f***ing acquisitions we made? Yes it was, Touche!!!
  16. Wasn't this Asked once allready? But for arguments sake I'll say Arow and Mark B. Doesn't get a lot of Press but all he's done is win
  17. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong, Just poitning out the teams that did that. Shhesssh Touche!!!!!
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) I read a study, (I've lost the data now because I wiped my HD) that was basically about this same thing(with much less mainstream media Yankee fellating) -- I'll see if I can find it... Basically the gist of it was that teams whose pitchers get more strikeouts do better than teams that don't (I know it's revolutionary) -- From what I can remember, I would say about 90% of all playoff teams from the past 25 years recorded about 1000 strikeouts. That's a pretty healthy correlation. The 93 Sox team was one of the 10% that made the playoffs with less than 1000 k's they had 974 and the 1983 team was another with 877 K's, 96 Rangers are another with 976 k's, 98 Rangers had 994 '99 Rangers had 979k's More teams that made the playoffs with out 1000 k's 1983 Orioles 774 k's 2002 Angles 999 k's 1986 Angels 955 k's 1982 Angles 728 k's 1995 Indians 926 k's 1992 A's 843 k's 1991 Twins 876 k's 1990 A's 831 k's 1990 Red Sox 997k's 1989 A's 930k's 1989 Blue Jays 846k's 1988 A's 983k's 1987 Twins 990 k's 1987 Tigers 976k's 1985 Blue Jays 823k's 1985 Royals 846k's 1984 Tigers 914k's 1984 Royals 724k's I know it said close, I just threw out the numbers so it can be compared
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Then you totally misread the question in the first post... Ohh s***
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) woah -- that's a lot of misinfo Shingo = FA in 06 Konerko = FA in 06 everyone else we have some sort of option on. Frank - dual option Igu - under contract (assuming he officially signs) Crede - under 6 years of service Contreras - under contract Marte under contract Hermanson - Under contract AJ - Under 6 years of service It's not Mis Info. If you sign a 2 year deal your a free agent after the 2006 season. Sooooo Contreras contracts ends after the 2006 season as does Hermanson and Pollite. Frank too and Iguchi if the Option is not taken. AJ would be a free agent, his service time started in 2001 making him a 6yr man. Plus he was cut loose and his contract with us is only for a year and maybe an option. So he is too a free agent. The players i mentioned there contracts end after the 2006 season.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) May i ask, what do you have against polls? Every time one is put up you say something about them. Cause 99.5% Of the polls here ask questions that have been asked over and over and over and over again. Plus Many are somewhat DUMB
