Sox Interested in Roberts?

QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 22, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) well, isn't the suppossed Cubs offer Murton, Gallagher and Patterson? I think we can match that... if thats the leading offer then kenny needs to pounce all over this, i think making a deal with richar in it makes it a better offer right away plus we can throw in say masset and c prospect and that should get him...i see theyre getting murton in that cubs deal, are guys apposed to trading anderson or sweeney in a deal for him if they want an OF in the deal??? -
You're the GM. Firesale is the plan.

QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Dec 21, 2007 -> 12:43 AM) I like everything on here except Quentin. IMO he won't ever get back in the right direction. But really everything else on this lineup is awesome. If the Reds would include Bailey instead of Votto I would be fine with that and then trading PK to the Dodgers for Loney + prospect. Wow you can only dream... i like that idea too, actually even more so then what i had originally....Votto is unproven at the mlb level and loney looks like he can be a flat out beast in this league for many years. id go as far as trying (key word trying) for a PK, Ryan Sweeney and Gio for Loney and Billingsley (i know im gonna ge flamed for saying that but come on now its not that bad a deal) as far as quentin goes i think you give him to the trading deadline to perform then you consider trading him -

as said in another thread here i am about to have a lil fun playing the sox gm.... first trade Buehrle to the reds for Joey Votto, Josh Hamilton, and Johnny Cueto. PK to the Giants for Lincecum or Cain trade crede to the brewers for Carlos Villanueva (brew crew have a ton of mlb ready starting pitchers, this move can also allow them to move Braun to the OF) trade uribe to whichever team offers the best young reliever trade dye and spects for carlos gomez and joe smith that gives you Vaz Lincecum/cain Danks Vilanueva Cueto/count/floyd/DLS/Gio (can you imagine a few years from now lincecum/danks/cueto/dls/gio) C AJ 1b Votto 2b Richar SS OC 3b fields LF Quentin CF Hamilton RF Gomez DH Thome let thome and OC walk after this year and you should have a ton of money to buy a couple top tier free agents and if everyone lives up to potential then next year you should have yourself a good team for awhile. -
if we can get hamilton votto and cueto for buehrle you make the deal....im gonna go to the firesale thread and have a lil fun.

QUOTE(Lemon_44 @ Dec 15, 2007 -> 06:34 AM) Maybe if you'd put Figgins in instead of Willits i'd like it. I may be in the minority here but i am juts not a Willits fan. I want to see him put up consecutive years with good numbers. I think last year may have been a bit flukish. I don't think you could get Kotchman, Willits, and Santana for PK alone. At least you should be able to.I still wouldn't like that deal. Any deal with Anaheim,if i'm KW, has to include Figgins and go from there. Isn't PK only 31? People talk about him like he's about 38. I know he has hip issues but 31 is pretty much in your prime. PK to the Angels for Figgins and Garland . I'd be down with Figgins if for some reason they arent willing to deal Willits. Willits has a ton of upside and is gonna be a top of the line lead off hitter for a long time in this league. From what I know (i have a buddy whos a huge Angels fan) he's got a good eye and doesnt K much. I also think you give up less to get Willits, I think crede has to be involved in a deal for figgins....if you have to do a deal for figgins id make it look a lil somethin like this PK, Crede, Broadway, Macdougal for Figgins, Kotchman, Santana, Shields -
I'm pro kenny williams, the way i look it hes done one hell of a job aside from building a bad bullpen of unproven pitchers and trade away chris young (though not fully disappointed we did get back javy who was our best pitcher last year).. The man got us a championship, then the following year he kept basically the same team and adds a future HoF in jim thome and trades an old el duque for a stud in javy vazquez. The team he put out there in 06 won 90 games just so happens were in a tough division, boston finished 3rd in there division that year, does that mean theo espstien should get fired?? then the next season he goes out and keeps the almost the same team that won a combined 189 wins over the past 2 seasons (which might i add is a white sox record for a 2 year span) and he upgrades the CF position from brian anderson to darin erstad, plus brings in toby hall to spell AJ from time to time so AJ wouldnt be so worn out toward the end of the season. You also talk about him tearing up the farm well in 07 didnt he brings in john danks who at the time was the 31st ranked prospect in the league (per milb.com) and nick masset for brandon mcarthy a guy who the 2 previous years didnt get the job done. he also brought back gio gonzalez who per baseball america has the 73 ranked prospect and gavin floyd for freddie garcia who went 1-5 with an era close to 6, gavin floyd also went 1-5 with a lower era in more innings pitched....is it really kennys fault that PK batted .258 or JD hitting .254 or counts struggles...i think not, and now that the sox players had bad years no one really has any value for kenny to make trades, and its not his fault that he gets out bid by other teams. i hear you guys say id sign hunter if the price isnt to high and then when he gets signed to a crazy deal you guys get mad cause kenny got out bid??? you yourself said you wouldnt sign him if the price was too high. I like what hes done this year so far too, we upgrade at SS bring in OC who could be the leader of this team, the bullpen was atrocious last year so we bring in a proven stud like linebrink, and then we bring in another young stud in Carlos Quentin.

if you dont get lincecum from the giants then you tell them to buzz off and talk to the Angels about PK lance broadway and a reliever for Willits Kotchman and santana....you get 3 pieces to this years puzzle, you get younger, and you get cheaper. I also think vaz, uribe, crede and count need to be dealt too. Vaz has a lot of value and should give you a decent return. I dont wanna trade Buehrle cause i see him as being to good a good teacher. -

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) I've heard a lot about Lincecum, but I have never seen him pitch. How does he compare with Gio Gonzalez? How much ahead of Gonzalez is he ranked by most scouts? If the Jays were offering Alex Rios for Lincecum straight up, would they be interested in Gio and one other Sox prospect (not Fields) for Rios? hes gonna be the next roy oswalt, possibly better -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:31 AM) You forgot to turn on the "fair trades" option on your XBox 1st of all i was saying you try these trades and if i were kenny williams id shoot high and then even when you go lower its still good 2ndly if you really look at it i think its not that lopsided considering the pieces that the angels already have...maybe kendrick is a bit to much and maybe you switch weaver for santana, but i really see no reason why they wouldnt do a santana, willits, kotchman, and a reliever for PK Crede and broadway....PS xbox blows, its all about ps2 lol -

I say no to the firesale, but i do think you try to unload PK and crede to the angels. It make perfect sense to do it, you can grab 3 pieces to the mlb club this year, you lose a ton of cap space, you can move fields into the middle of the lineup, and your future looks so much brighter. id first try for PK, crede and broadway for Jered Weaver, Kotchman, Kendrick, and Willits, ...i could see em going for this, because it makes since for them too, your getting another stud in PK to make a a pretty damn good 3-4-5 in vlad, pk, and hunter. theye also adding a gold glove caliber 3rd basemen that would in a way fill the void of not having that gold glove at SS anymore. even though theyre giving up 4 players on there active roster it wont hurt there mlb squad at all. they get pk to replace kotchman, crede moves in at 3rd and figgins moves to 2nd to take kendricks place, and they then move ervin santana to the rotation and make broadway there emergency starter. they already got Wilits replacement in torii hunter. this gives them a lineup of 1 Figgins 2b 2 Aybar ss 3 vlad rf 4 PK 1b 5 Hunter cf 6 Anderson DH 7 Mathews Jr CF 8 Crede 3b 9 Napoli C 1 Lackey 2 escobar 3. JG 4. Saunder 5. SAntana and they still have an amazing bench with any of wood, M. Izturis, morales, quinlan, rivera and Haynes if they dont want that then you replace weaver with Santana. (this woukd be for santana, kotch, willits, kendrick) if they dont do that you then put weaver back in there and take out Kendrick (for weaver, kotch, willits) if they dont do that then you replace weaver with santana, take out kendrick, and add Shields (santana kotch, willits shields) if they dont do that then i go no lower than santana, kotchman, and willits. i also start looking at offers OC and if something good comes up you pull the trigger and then you put richar at SS (uribe has already been traded at this point to the orioles for some relief pitching and yes richar has played SS before). I kinda like the idea of having an infield full of good players 25 years old or younger. I think this.... 1. Willits CF 2. OC SS 3. Dye RF 4. Thome DH 5. Fields 6. Kotchman 7. AJP C 8. Quentin LF 9. Kendrick 2b 1 Buehrle 2. Vaz 3 Weaver 4. Count 5. DAnks i also start looking at offers OC and if something good comes up you pull the trigger and then you put richar at SS (uribe has already been traded at this point to the orioles for some relief pitching and yes richar has played SS before). I kinda like the idea of having an infield full of good players 25 years old or younger. ...would look pretty damn good oh and sign Otsuka tell me what ya guys think??? -
isnt pablo rather young??? i never understood why pablo has never been given a chance to be a full time player, what am i missing??? yes i know his D isnt good but who knows maybe he can feed off the good D of OC. you guys dont think he can hit as a full time player cause he can sure as hell hit as a backup,IMO i think the guy can hit period. I would be thrilled to see him at the top of the lineup.

Juan Uribe SS QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 03:03 AM) That would be my ideal team next season....However, I dont know why or how everyone thinks we can get Cabrera while keeping Fields. Miggy plays third for them, so naturally, they'd want a young replacement. Hmmm, do we have one? I think so....I would assume if any deal goes down the 1st piece they ask for is Fields, followed by whatever arms they want. Everything else with that team I like. Paulie I think will be moved upon a deal for Miggy. Figgins/Kotchman may be a bit much but who knows, depends on the prospect or arm that'll be sure to come with it. ahh yes, my mistake let me switch it around real quick 1. Owens 2. Figgens 3b 3. Cabrera 4. Thome 5. Dye 6. Kotchman 7. AJP 8. Uribe 9. Richar 2b or maybe if kenny gets on the ball and deals some guys to free up cap space 1. Owens LF (im sure he could play left and i personally think hes gonna get better with the stick) 2. Figgens 2b 3. Cabrera 3b 4. Thome DH 5. Dye RF 6. Hunter CF 7. Kotchman 8. AJP C 9. Uribe ss 1. Buehrle 2. Vaz 3. Carlos Silva 4. Danks 5. Floyd (hes showed flashes last year that he can hang) Thornton (L) Carlos Villanueva ® (in garland trade) Logan (L) Wassermann ® Scot Shields ® Joe Beimel (L) (rumors of crede goin to the dodgers so maybe we can get him in the deal) closer Jenks my question to you guys (im a die hard sox fans but am clueless when it comes to cap room) is if we deal the contracts of Garland, Count, Crede, and Konerko do you think we'd be able to get a carlos silva and a torii hunter?

Id like to see Buehrle go in the danks deal and we do the angels deal... A starting staff of count, garland, santana, BMac, and danks looks pretty damn good....in a few years take when counts gone just replace him with the mentioned 2nd prospect or broadway and we got ourselves a pretty stellar staff for the future

why trade away crede for chone figgins when chone figgins clone is on the sox bench...Pablo Ozuna, hes unproven as a starter but really i think he can be just as good as chone and you wont have to give up crede
