  1. for the record Josh, I think they're being a little hard on you. These guys have no emotional attachment to this individual and can easily judge him harshly without recourse. I'm sure you're mind is reliving a lot of emotions and memories to this guy's class. that being said, he should never teach again. I'm sorry, but sometimes f***ing up once is all you get. lay off WS josh, guys, he didn't do anything wrong. and Josh, understand why people will call this guy horrible names. thanks, that's all.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) The Sun-Times keeps their archives online for a month. 06 represents the date.... well, that made my comment completely unfunny. great. but thanks for the insight.
  3. that's very sad. I'm sorry guys. an interesting fact, however, is that this is not the first "porn" news article, but at least the 6th one : hmmm.

    *sigh* hehe.
  5. so far it's a one sided report. I'm in no way defending whoever these friggin' yahoos were. I'm just saying that everyone's so quick to say, "see, it's those damn christians." it's like looking at Cerbaho's and lowercaserepublican's experiences and saying, see, all women suck at driving. I found what jim and the other guy had to say slightly offensive, that's all I'm saying.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) How many people try to base law on the Iliad? maybe none. maybe hundreds. I wasn't around in the early roman era. There are scores of examples of texts surviving hundreds of years and being recognized as original and authentic.
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) My comments were directed only at the mouthbreathers involved in the assault, fine Christians that they are and all. :headshake :headshake I don't recall reading that the individuals claimed to be christians, it was the "respectable" professor who labeled them that. maybe you cut them off in traffic. or they were drunk. please, you self absorbed ass. no one cares who you are. your class got canceled.
  8. didn't see this til now, but hope all is well...
  9. It's a good thing we judge entire populations based on two individuals..... f***ing mouthbreathers... :headshake
  10. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Christians in the past couldn't even agree on which gospels were canon, and which weren't. The Gnostic gospels, for example. If you were to believe that the gospels contain "DIRECT text from Jesus," then why is the gospel of Thomas not in the bible? Who decided that John(which is chock full of contradictions that raise many questions as to its true source) is in, but Thomas is out? first of all, because Thomas has been proven to be Gnostic and completely contrary to the rest of the message of the bible. The only people arguing about including the gnostic books are gnostics. They desire to taint the message. The cannonization is quite interesting and you'll see that it's not as jumbled or choatic as it seems. Some books were eliminated because of incompleteness and many others were just repetitive. There are at least three versions of the gospel of matthew and following your logic it would be good question to why they aren't included, but the answer is that they basically say the same thing. There are well over 20k early church documents that are either 2nd century quotes or reproductions. Almost the entire new testament can be rewritten via quotes in pre-council of nicea documents.(325 AD) (the earliest copy of the illiad, by the way, is dated at something like 400 B.C. and it was written in 900 B.C. do we question it's legitimacy?)

    Sufjan Stevens, that's ironic.
  12. this came out a while back... he'd "pump off" during trials..... the balifs apparently heard a "noise" and wondered what the hell was going on. hahaha...what the hell. It's so inappropriate, but very creative. At least he wasn't touching boys?
  13. What I get from the history of the JW's... this guy russell had his own interpretations of what Christianity was, he decides to publish magazines and make himself president of the corporation that promotes this religion. with in a year, the religion has a massive split, and the new "leader" makes Jonathan Edwards look liberal, denouncing major religions and major governments; they see immidiate growth. money and fear. interesting. That being said, a good friend of mine is a JW. I'm not sure how I feel about all of it, and like someone else said, he's not a pusher of his religion. Not celebrating holidays and having to dress up for church for fear of being shunned. (because the early church had "sunday bests" :headshake ) 144,000 Anointed? at least in this religion I'm gonna get wiped off the face of the earth and out of existence, that's better than some. my limited advice is to ask your wife if she's looking for God or looking for a group. God will accept her under any conditions if she's truly seeking, people and their made up beliefs (yeah you too christianity) tend to be a little more selective, and dare I say, self-centered.
  14. I will be happy to step in as Mr. Britney Spears and get her pregnant over and over and over again....

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 10:04 PM) I was just saying how Denver is the butt of many jokes for no real reason at all. he does look like a lesbian in some pictures. Bad call on the huge glasses and woman hair cut. but he still rule(d)(s)!
  23. I just saw that tickets are on sale for Coldplay's '06 tour. :headshake I'm not saying I'm awesome because I saw Coldplay back in '00. I'm just saying that it's not even worth the wait, ticket price, bad seats to go see a band in a huge venue. They're playing the Wachovia Center in Philly where the sixers play and Continental Airlines Center in NJ, which offers cheap seats at the wachovia center to see the concert I've heard U2 is great, but other than that I can't imagine going to see a band with an audience over 1k people, and I'd draw the line at 500. The Trocodero in Philly

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Mr. Denver actually was a heck of a person and he had a ton of talent. I don't own anything by him, but I really never understood the shame in liking him. On the Behind The Music episode with him, watching his Mom cry over his death at the end, that was some VERY sad stuff. the title of this thread should be in green. I'm very open to blue grass, country and folk. I never really listened much to JD....I'm quite happy that I downloaded a bunch of his stuff. Country roooooooooad...take me hooooooooooooooome....to the placeeeeeee...where I was borrrrrrrrrrrn....west virginiaaaaaa...mountain mama...take me home!
