  1. Magic Cone next time you see a chick standing up, holding something in front of her crotch, please, please don't assume that she's a hermaphrodite... followed by :puke
  2. LMAO... b****, maybe life outside of soxtalk, definitely look into that friend...it was just a joke, and as you can see Texsox made it clear that he and I post far more inane topics here. don't sweat it son BEGOOD, right?
  3. haha...it's the white man stickin' it to ya. he was pretty funny. good times.
  4. I'm not here to judge, and since the thread is about girlfriends, is it ok to bring up you know who, Steve? I'm flying to PA and I bought her a ring. (not THE ring....yet)
  5. I don't think I'm wrong, just so we're clear, however, I'm glad that this thread didn't turn into something worse. we can agree to disagree and learn to not go for the jugular with every post. I'm not always the smart ass of the board, just when it comes to music and southsider.
  6. First I said : "Do you mean "how is life like in Texas?".... **edited for content** ....other than that, people are really friendly and places like San Antonio are amazing." now I say: well, I liked one of their songs because I saw them play it at the MTV movie/music awards and they rocked. I guess if I were a LP fan, I'd dig it a whole lot. I really don't have a qualified opinion.
  7. that he wants to make me his chicken-fing b****? pass. or are you trying to tell me something? Brando, were we not arguing in favor of the same point? just checking
  8. Brando, I appreciate your words, and I would concur on all accounts. I think it boils down to the "value" of opinions. Opinions my on some level be equal and valid in their own right, however, they are not all equally valued by others. This all started by my ego-tripping about Korn. Gash has every right to enjoy them and think they're good. I, on the other hand, would cite many things that make them a poor example of muscianship, but whatever. Some people might value my opinion more because of my background and overall knowledge and experience, or not. Gash it's a little childish to call me an "animal." By your own standards, every opinion is correct in its own right, and mine is that I'm more qualified at discussing music, then I'm still right. or do I slow it down for you?? Sooooooooo? Enjoy your reletivistic death trap, I enjoy listening to other's opinions about things that I have no clue about and hope to be able to discuss those topics without being a kid when things aren't going my way.
  9. are we talking about musical personal preference or qualified individuals opinions? I think we all agree now that opinions can differ and are good in their own right, but there has to be room for striation in qualification of opinions. my opinions about baseball may differ and but equally valid as Peter Gammons. However, the dude gets paid for speculation and analysis of a sport with millions of opinions and preferences and I don't. Clearly his knowledge and experience alone make his opinions more qualified regardless of correctness and accuracy. Professionals do what they do because they're qualified and more knowledgeable than the lay person, no matter the vehicle of his trade. Religious folk argue the concept/opinions of faith and religion, and one person's (The POPE) opinions are worth far more over another. (haha, not mine though) I'm not sure why this is so hard? erase validity and egality from the definition of qualified. One person more "knowledgeable and skilled" on a topic, by definition has a more qualified opinion.
  10. this is turing out to be an interesting debate. I hope everyone's cool headed now. brando, that's exactly my point. and maybe it's more difficult to qualify artistic opinions, but I still believe some people have more ability to judge music more than others. why shouldn't that be the case?
  11. still nothing resolved, although an "I love you steff and I'm sorry" is due. and does Korn still suck and Chicken f***ers are still bad? this thread is hilarious
  12. if someone is an expert on something, even if it's a theory, how is that not a more qualified opinion? is my definition off? or where is my logic incorrect? you and I can have opinions about whether or not we should privitize social security, because our knowledge is the same (let's assume) However, someone who has more training and experience in a certain area is able to maintain a more competent and knowledgeable opinion about a subject. or is that too easy? seriously, help me out?
  13. the one and only time I GOT the shot, I got sick with the flu
  14. Uh, your opinion on anti-matter theory vs a nuclear physicist's opinion. one is more qualified than another. next please...
  15. smug- n. "Studiously neat or nice, especially in dress; spruce; affectedly precise; smooth and prim." I thank you, kind sir. smug- n. "Exhibiting or feeling great or offensive satisfaction with oneself or with one's situation; self-righteously complacent" Ohhh, I thank you again! You're entitled to your opinion gashyson. If you love Korn, then have at it. It's difficult to argue one's preferences, however, I can argue that my opinion is more qualified and informed because I have more experience and knowledge on the subject. sometimes confidence is mistaken as smugness.
  16. hokay... I'm le tired. and some huge meteor is like, well f*** that! LMAO...good times.
  17. TRL...korn shared the same list as backstreet and britney. different "animals" ok... different mediums? no, they're both released on the same audio formats. media/medium- A means of mass communication, such as newpapers, magazines, radio, or television. just so you know. Meh, there's no resolution for this arguement, so I'm done.
  18. but what about the goat f***ers? my "blatant" statements about knowing more than you are qualified by my professional status as a musician and critic. I'm glad you have a family history of playing music with your family. My older brother's had the same kinda of listener exposure I have, but I play in bands, do studio work on albums, and write as well. While I won't say I know EVERYTHING, cos there are lots of things I don't know and lots of people that know more than I, I will say, I've got experience and history which usually makes someone qualified to talk about something. Let me just say that you're kidding yourself if you think platinum albums=good albums. Millenium by backstreet boys is a mult-platinum album and "the bends" by radiohead was a gold certified record (probably single platinum now) Longivity? certainly there's something to be said about that, but I hate Aerosmith...so I think we can disregard that point. hit songs? um. 4 words. Hootie. and. the. blowfish. rave reviews on their albums by major music critics.. um, name one? led the rap/rock genre realllllll well. fun discussion.

    Top 5 of 2003

believe it or not, I'm generally open to this, especially because this year has been pretty weak album wise. I've not had time to listen to Spiritualized, Blur or Travis, but I'm sure all are solid discs. 5) Rufus Wainwright "Want One" Rufus's voice is amazing and puts him on this list. 4) Coldplay "A Rush of blood to the head" solid, simplisitc disc. Melody, mood, and Chris Martin's voice are what make Coldplay awesome. 3) The Appleseed Cast "2 Conversations" two-sided album bouncing between love and regret. Looping and winding guitars, inventive drumming, and solid melodies make this album an emotional winner. 2) Denison Witmer "Philadelphia Songs" If you've never looked into Denison, then I'm sorry. His lyrics are raw and powerful, melodies simplistic and piercing. 1) Sigur Ros "()" all I can say is "blá nótt yfir himininn, blá nótt yfir mér, horf-inn út um gluggann."
  20. steve, I would think you'd have some hazing story about screwing a farm animal, with the wrastlin' and all miss sox4life loves my pee-pee, that's what counts well, steff can love it too kiddddddddding
