QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) All it's going to take is a couple veteran middle relievers. Seriously, how can you say that with a rotation of Mark, Jon, Javy, and Danks? All we need is a couple of veteran free agents, and a better offense, and a leadoff hitter, and a shortstop, and an outfield...

I'm sorry, but we're not going to compete next year.
-
His curveball was garbage yesterday. Certainly not the monstrous hook some have been talking about. Guess he left it in the land where Day's slider and Masset's fastball went.
-
That's probably right. Wrong, too.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) Yeah, it would be brilliant to have only one proficient hitter on our squad next season. Sounds like lots of people in LA are going to be disappointed. Paulie isn't going anywhere, nor should he. With the right deals, it'd be fine. Frees up money, too. John Scheurholz: A good GM trades a player one year too early. A bad GM trades him a year too late. (That's Dye-Crede last year, BTW.) I don't want anything to do with Konerko in the future. His hip's going to die (he's playing on borrowed time as is), his contract's too big for flexibility purposes, and he's so slow it's disgusting.
-
And it's not a question of "Dye or Konerko." It should be Dye + oneofThomeorKonerko. But SSI is right -- he's co-GM.

Yes please.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) If Contreras is dealt I hope Floyd is giving the 5th starter's role for the rest of the season, completely uninterrupted. The Sox aren't going anywhere anyway. If he's terrible for the final 2 months of the season I'd probably be done with him. If anyone is dealt, I'm sure Floyd's the one that'll get the nod. I mean, he can't lose a job that's been giftwrapped for him twice, can he?

I've driven a tractor plenty of times and worked on a farm and I live and always have in f***ing Chicago, so you have nothing to boast about.

There's no such thing, IMO, as a wrestling spoiler on the Internet. That's why we're Smarks. Not Marks. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) My experience with tiger fans for the most part has been positive. I was surrounded by a bunch of them in 161 yesterday. There were only 2 that were annoying, and it had nothing to do with their tiger fan affiliation. The one fan had a more nasally version of Chris Griffins voice from the family guy, he was about 60 and was talking the entire game about how he was a music teacher and how he is at a convention. He spent the first 3 innings calling every member of his family, friends and such to tell them how he is sitting on the left shoulder of Monroe, and how he cant believe he can see them because he cant get tickets at Comerica. Even the tiger fans in front of me wanted to choke him out. Games lately havent been all that lively. But how can they be. My experience with Tiger fans has been very positive as well. Except for Scabies Man, but even he was pleasant. Hope everything works out for him. -
White Sox vs. Tigers, 7/24/07 (DH)Game 2(W)

Can't wait to watch Floyd's next outing. I mean that. Hopefully he matures! And hopefully for him, the great defensive catcher AJ Pierzynski will call his game instead of the not-so-great defensive catcher Toby Hall. And hopefully for him, he's facing the International League, or whatever the Major League equivelant is (the Sox? Not since the break, but who knows). And hopefully for him, nothing goes wrong in the field, at all. Really, I'm not being too positive, but I do look forward to his starts. Better this year than next. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) Scrubs is a quality tv show. And I LOVE my job, despite f***ing up my finger today. Nothing better than workin outside. I love my job. Very cushy. Too cushy for a guy as young as I, but that's fine by me. Anyway, Cute story. The girl that I am seeing and I were making out in the subway at Grand/State downtown. The platforms are divided by a wall and there's a small break in the barrier from which you can see either side. She and I are making out and suddenly you hear a catcall of "Get a room!" followed by "Tell my husband about that!" and "Whoa!" and all the other things that get yelled out by people watching two people kiss. Well, we break up, laughing, look around and see a few people watching us kiss. We get back to it and the guys are cheering us on and the Subway Guitar Player Across the Platform is really heckling us. He calls out that I'm the man, calls out that I need to get a room, calls out this and that, and then out of nowhere he gets this huge grin on his face and starts playing "My Girl." It was the cutest thing I've ever been involved in that I hadn't planned. (Since I am, of course, rather romantic without anyone else's assistance.)

Vazquez can revert at any time. I'm still cautious and guarded about him. Good for him, though. He's been damn good and I'm happy for him.

Fields = a cheaper Crede with no back problems
Gregory Pratt replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
1. Crede's not a lock as a "thirty homer" guy until he does it again. 2. He won't., IMO. -
Working a sweet job. Have been for awhile now. But there's nothing more demoralizing than having to be b****ed out by people when I call them (I am not a telemarketer but this morning I am making a few phone calls) and having to restrain myself from saying anything negative because I don't want to embarrass my boss. (My boss, however, was willing to call one of them and tell her not to be such a b**** after this one lady was a huge f***ing b****. I love my boss and my job.) It's so disgusting to have some asshole sigh when you start to talk and then say, "Sorry, no time, sorry, no time!" or whateverthef*** they say.

I'd be surprised if there weren't cats and guinea pigs involved, too. I know the dogfighting world (a little firsthand from people I knew who went to prison, as they should've), and that's how it works very often. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 11:13 AM) You should have seen the crowd the night he got his first hit. You would have swore he had just hit at walk off hr to give us the WS victory. Haha.

BP's very short take on Gio Gonzalez
Gregory Pratt replied to hitlesswonder's topic in FutureSox Board
I refuse to accept your apology. You have nothing to apologize for. You are my yin, and I your yang. I am not being sarcastic, either. It's good to have someone disagree with my pessimism, but I would counter that I'm just asking, What happens if our house is really made of paper -- again? I have entirely lost faith in this organization to acquire players via trade, draft players, sign international players or free agents and the whole organization has to go as soon as John Scheurholz' deputy starts to seek a General Manager's position. -
I remember when everyone was pretty excited about Luis Terrerro

Maybe her friends do drugs, too. I'd bet on that. That's why they don't say, Stop! And her handlers? It isn't easy to just STOP doing drugs. I mean, I'm not making excuses, but maybe people do tell her and she just can't just yet. Lots of people never get off drugs.

1. There was a Tigers fan sitting next to me at yesterday's game and he appeared to have scabies all over his body. Rashes and huge rashes and scratches. Either that or he got mauled by Magglio Ordonez. 2. There is a doomish feeling at the ballpark. Or at least there has been every game I want to. 3. Viva Billy Pierce!
