Dear Travis Hafner, Please wake up soon. Love, Me. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:22 AM) You can't f*** with Miguel Olivo. That dude is a f***ing bulldog. If only Hunter had tried to run through him.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) Not sure it beats the old ugliest dog: Is that dog for real?
-
Absolutely. Keep losing White Sox. Pedro Alvarez awaits!

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste. A taste of honey tasting much sweeter than wine Spill the wine, take that girl Take your car, yes we will, we'll take your car and drive it. I've been waiting...I've been waiting for this moment all my life...but it's not quite right Something is wrong here! I don't belong here!

Crawford's not a free agent. That's the only thing that stood out. Oh, and Broadway? No! PS: leave Michael J. Fox alone. He's a great guy.

Ichiro is the coolest man in baseball and has the best bat control to boot. And then,

Way to go, Poreda.

Ryan Sweeney > Heads
-
Yeah. Sweeney has some work to do to become a major league ballplayer.
-
Maybe later.
-
That's not the point BearSox. He hasn't developed. And that's really the short and long and end of it.
-
He'll do.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) It's cause he is righthanded and can play the infield as well.... Plus, he's hispanic, which never hurts when your manager is Ozzie. Ozzie absolutely loves Sweeney and I'm sure if it were a straight up choice between Sweeney and Gonzalez it would be an easy one but the truth is that Gonzalez is more flexible and Sweeney, more important than anything else, needs to be in the minors working on strength, turning on inside fastballs and making contact. He simply isn't ready.

okay.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) Billingsley/Either; Milledge/Pelfrey; Ellsbury/Bowden These are the types of players we need to be targeting. Oh yeah.
-
What fathom is saying is, he knows specifically that those guys have been FOLLOWING the Sox. Not scouting here and there, but FOLLOWING. You know that those guys you mentioned are there SPECIFICALLY? (I'm just asking. Not berating. I clear that up only because I don't want to give a bad impression with the caps. They're just EMPHASIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

The point with Erstad/Pods, though, is that Erstad was doing a fine job, considering, in the leadoff hole after Podsednik went down so they were going to keep him there and move Podsednik down. I don't think Guillen ever called Erstad a four hundred hitter.
-
I'm not going through your whole post, Green, but I'll poke a few holes. Then I'm done with this thread. Going out! At least Frank gone was KW, too. As far as Ordonez, he wouldn't go to the doctors they wanted him to go to and then he got a monter contract. That's it. I believe Podsednik DL'ed himself. But neither of them are very good, and it's KW that brought them back. PS: aren't you the one who always gripes about "hackers"? What the hell is Podsednik other than a weak slap hitter with little speed left? Yeah, Owens was Ozzie's master plan. PS: Anderson + Sweeney needed more time. He doesn't have anything else! What Ozzie wanted was 2005. Podsednik at his peak, situational hitting, homers. Sorry, but you're way off. I'm sure Ozzie's mandate to KW was, "Give me slow guys. AA relievers. No offense." But other than that, very well done. Fathom, don't praise green. His post is misleading in almost every sense.
-
Sure, but you can't do that to your manager.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) Uuuum, did you see the ovation he got? And did he not score our only run? Pods back was a bad move for the inflexibility it causes and the fact that he isn't that good at baseball. He's having a good, what, month? cumulative playing time but he shouldn't have been brought back.
-
I take issue with the 90-win-Ozzie-villain storyline, though. That bullpen was hideous and his situation in CF was bad, too. The offense DIED in the second half as well. That we won 90 games is a testament to something. I'm just not sure what. We won 90 games in spite of a poorly constructed roster and terrible bullpen.
-
No, it wasn't a good move. I'm not necessarily in favor of bringing back Ozzie for PR purposes. He's still got years left on his deal, doesn't he? I'd like to keep him, but to extend him now? No, I wouldn't do that. No real reason to.
-
Which is why KW deserves so much more blame than Osvaldo.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) No offense, but Ozzie means nothing for PR purposes. Winning is the only PR that really matters with that team. After that, it's the Buehrle situation. The Sox could fire Ozzie and bring in some grandma off the street, and if the Sox have a winning season, people will show up. I don't think too many people show up to see Ozzie in the dugout. No, but people love Ozzie. People associate Ozzie with the White Sox. Like Podsednik, which is half the reason he was brought back (the other half was, s***! All the other Leadoff hitters are expensive!!). My issues are with KW, Rick Hahn and our scouts. Our coaches, too. I take SMALL issue with Ozzie here and there, but he is NOT the problem.
-
If Ozzie gets extended now, the reason to do it is, It'll help the average fan and attendance. It's a PR move, if he gets it now. There's no reason to have him fired, though. OH WAIT I FORGOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 /green
