  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) Yes, thanks for posting this. I heard the original conversation between Olney and Mike Greenberg this morning, and it was Olney speculating, nothing more. Olney did say that in talking to his sources, whoever they are, that KW is intent on improving the club. No surprise there. Well darn.
  2. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) The last thing the Sox need is bullpen pitchers or backup outfielders. We need some frontline talent to either improve this slumping line-up, or to improve our rotation (although I'll be happy if McCarthy is given a spot; that would still require a major move to get rid one of the starters, however). People clamored for an end to Politte and Widger. Done and done. Why aren't we winning? Because bench improvements are marginal improvements and make only small differences, if any, in the standings. No it wouldn't. Vazquez = reliever; McCarthy = starter. All done! Then you trade for Zito, and ship Garcia the hell out of here.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) Lets hug it out b****es! Why isn't "b****es" filtered?
  4. I would love this deal, provided we don't lose BMAC. Give Oakland Sweeney or Fields or someone in the minors that they may want. Some prospects. Give the Mets Freddy or Vazquez. Take Zito, and when he's gone in the offseason, plug McCarthy into his spot. That's what I'd like, anyway. At least now we have an idea what Kenny's "bigger than that" comment meant.
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Where the fish is our lucky break. God damn it all.
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) The bad call at 1B now looms large. Yeah.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) So, the new town library opened today and I checked out Three Nights in August, anyone read it? I did. I enjoyed it.
  8. How the hell does a guy in the top ten in a baseball category -- like stolen bases, strikeouts -- not get into the HOF? You know, Cooperstown is a bit of a sham.
  9. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) I didn't mean to imply he's currently losing focus. Just that he can't. Whether that's from a close pitched called against him or a soft hit escaping the defense. Well, he's not going to. Didn't in the first, and won't now.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Lately, in pitching duels such as tonight we're always the club who gives up the lead. Contreras can't lose his focus. It's obvious his offense won't help him much. I don't think Contreras is losing focus at all. Actually, I think he's our best pitcher at that.
  11. QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) I'll tell you if Detroit can come right back from a 7 run first inning deficit, they deserve this division more than we do....damn that's fighting...... Uh, the Mother's Day game says hi!
  12. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) good lord, how did that get out Yah, I hate weak ass homeruns.
  13. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) See, I told you Johan has been hittable over his last few starts Sure, he's had a mildly rough stretch, but it's also the fact that Thome can homer off of anyone at anytime. -- Anyone else see the shot of Thome and Contreras laughing about something, with Contreras shaking his head? I'm not sure what they were saying, but it was great to see that Thome's on good terms with even the guys who don't speak English spiff.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Our other LF'er likes to leave his on his shoulder watching the pitch dwon the middle of the plate. Thank you Thome. There is our run. Pods takes close calls. He doesn't stare down the middle of the plate very often, and that's a stretch.
  15. Thome's come up big against Johan twice this year.
  16. Take note, Javier, and you too to a point, Freddy. When your third baseman doesn't make a play due to a hop, it isn't cause to spiff yourself, and neither is a ducksnort. I love Jose.
  17. I can't understand how only we play bad against Cleveland.
  18. You know, it really isn't so bad. I greatly enjoy my time at the Chicago HS for Agricultural Sciences.
  19. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:19 PM) but but but........THE MEDIA HATES THE WHITE SOCKS'S!@!@#@@ CUBS SUCK!@#$@!1111111 LOLZ ITS THE TROOF!!!1111111!!
  20. Sounds fun and exciting, Rex. Yeah, I had a huge lubricated glove on. We had to check for fetal palpations through the rectum because a few months ago we tried to breed the cows. Only one of them was pregnant. Beat that.
