  1. Without losing McCarthy, I'd do this trade.
  2. I'd trust Thornton in a save opportunity like today, when Jenks has been struggling of late and had pitched twice in a row.
  3. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52748 I hate you. I can't believe I posted in that thread and had forgotten about it.
  4. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) Who is starting for the O's? Some double a noob. If we can't rock him, we don't deserve to win...unless we mount an impressive rally in the ninth!
  5. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) McCarthy is much more likely the replacement for Jizcan than for Hermey... Put riske in there w/ politte and macD w/ Hermey and you'd be right. Riske is nowhere near as good as Politte was last year. How about the 2006 bullpen = the 2006 bullpen = an excellent bullpen. I'm not a big fan, but, yeah, I trust Thornton in Cotts' role last year. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) 3 different spellings of his name in this tread, and not one is right. It's MacDougal. Surely you jest!
  6. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:12 AM) Ross Gload, huh? Who'd of thought. Well I always thought he was a good hitter, but never capable of being a hero. But we have to wonder what would have happened in the game had Paulie not gotten pulled...... You know, I said it in the thread, I was happy to see Gload in the game. My reasoning was that he can get an infield hit to save his life, but mainly, Konerko's looked tired and miserly at the plate lately. Gload's a pretty good hitter, too. I suspect that Konerko would've found a way to pop out or ground out, probably into a double play, had he stayed in yesterday.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) If we traded Garcia for him, I would be more than happy to have to face him in the postseason. Vazquez, too. But, oh man, Freddy's eighty six MPH in the postseason? Ha, Jim Thome would like that.
  8. Great job, Gload. Just give it a week before they turn on you again.
  9. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/24/law...h.ap/index.html Bull on the bold. But it's okay: he's fighting terra!
  10. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060729/ap_on_...zkxBHNlYwN0bQ-- The way I see it, is, "This is like robbing Harry Truman to pay for Franklin Roosevelt's estate." It certainly isn't progressive, or honest. It was calculated to die so that the Do-Nothing Republicans in Congress can pretend to Do-Something.
  11. I thought this was nifty: http://soxmachine.com/blogs/soxmachine/arc...07/29/1275.aspx
  12. I wouldn't mind Pods and Garcia for Crisp, and then Mac in the rotation. I doubt that it'll happen, though.
  13. You know, I hate it when people stretch out comparisons that don't work when looked at closely. McCarthy has never served as closer, and never will. I'm sure the rest of those comparisons, too, will fade when looked at closer.
  14. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Tigers win 3-2 in the 10th. Good.
  15. You know, I like Gload. Always have. I wouldn't cry if he got cut or replaced on the team, but he always gives it his all.
  16. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) look at what additions can do to the team....help them macdougal is our only pick up...yikes hmmm i wonder who he wants...probably O's bullpen guys. Don't forget Alomar!
  17. I'm so sick of out-hitting teams but not when it counts.
  18. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) How? How can you say that? Gload rarely takes a walk, something Paulie can atleast do when he is struggling. Gload is not a very good hitter. Gload can get an infield hit to save his life.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) The thing people forget is that his velocity decreased pretty drastically from his first year with the Sox to last season. People act like he was throwing 95 mph constantly for the Sox last year. He was more in the 91-92 range. When we first traded for him, he was absolutely electric in his first start at Minnesota. It's pretty sad how far his stuff has fallen. His K rates are extremely evident of this. It's sad to see a guy who led the league in ERA years ago and now...well, doesn't.
