QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) Since when did people say the Rock and Goldberg were good wrestler's? The Rock's finisher was an elbow drop for crying out loud! At least Goldberg had a couple impressive finishers. I have no problem with the Rock. He was a fantastic entertainer, and frankly, that's what puts a guy into the main event. Bret Hart is one of the few guys I can think of who got by with a rather dull personality (in my opinion). Even Andre the Giant was known to have a fantastic personality even though he couldn't speak English. That's why the internet wrestling community bothers me so much. They want guys like Lance Storm and Chris Benoit pushed all the time, but they have zero personality. Hearing them talk on the mic is brutal. People WANT to see Brock Lesnar squash some dude. They want to see Hogan play to the crowd and drop that "vicious" leg. haha....The Rock played to the crowd better than anyone. Stone Cold drank beer and gave out stunners. DX was rude and crude. Flair...well that man is nuts. Foley, nuts as well. That's what I loved. Now we got a white rapper and a second generation primadonna. Goldberg was entertaining on the mic? His whole gig was to make deformed faces, go "RAAAAAH" and "WHO'S NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Entertaining my ass. Was the Rock better than Austin? IMO, nobody was, except perhaps Foley, although Foley is easily the best real promo in the business, which was something I can't ever remember Austin giving.

QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) You know what I find most intriguing about this match-up is why WGN would rather show the Cubbies at the Mets instead of this game. Uh, they set the season TV schedule before the season starts, when all they know is the team matchups not pitching ones.

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) It's the american league. He doesn't bat. He's just responsible for the goose egg put up by the Twins. The hungry offense that's ready to remind the league of how powerful it really is will take care of the HR's. Nah. Contreras is looking to put the game into his own hand, so he's going to bat for himself. Thome's taking a night off. Three of the homers will be from the Count, and one will be inside the park.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) I's agree to an extent. He was a bonafied athlete in the ring and was very good at selling moves. I disagree. I thought he made spiff look so fake, and the way he recoiled after being punched/slapped looked so phony. Most things he did were phony. I liked the way he took the Stunner, but that was about all he took well enough, although that looked so fuggin fake. I never liked his mic work. Smell it, Jabroni?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) Interestingly enough, Tony Snow actually apologized for that comment. That's well enough, but ultimately, when George Bush says we have to preserve life -- preserve the human life of embryos! -- he is saying that those who don't oppose stem cell research are killers.

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) I said he was due for an offday and this is the sort of lineup where if you serve it up to them, they will eat you up. Off day by a pitcher + A team hungry for a win + The real best pitcher in baseball takig the mound for our side = Sox 16 Twins - 0 How many homeruns will Contreras hit?

I think Lee rushed himself back. I don't think the organization pressured him to return early. Maybe Dusty, but I doubt it. This was his own boneheaded error. Hell, even if they DID pressure him, it's still his boneheaded error to have decided to return.

Josh Beckett is mediocre, IMO.

QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) Combine Santna's imment off day with the White Sox imminent victory and what you have is a beautiful game to watch tonight. I can't wait to see it. I'll be sure to be home early so I can be parked in front of my TV with a Schweppes ginger ale for the pre game. Sometimes, I honestly wonder whether or not you actually watch baseball. How someone can follow pro baseball, see the pitching matchup going tonight, and then predicting, It blows my mind.

Big Show versus Kane. EC F'n W! And the Rock? IMO, the most overrated wrestler EVER. Except Goldberg. And a whole host of other people. But I hated the Rock!

Maybe they realized he sucked. FireJoeMorgan.Blogspot.com PS: Look in the Diamond Club.

QUOTE(Hanger @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:07 AM) First post-long time reader. With Johan pitching, should be the first time we see Sandy this year. Lets just hope everyone here remembers who we did have, if Sandy happens to go 0-3 tonight. Still a much better backup than Widger. Here is to a good game for Pablo and Sandy! You know, I don't think he's much of an upgrade over Widger. I hope he can do well, but I'm not holding out.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) I guess I can thank George that I will be able to keep running 5 to 8 miles a day for the rest of my life to keep my sugars in control. That and the 160 bucks a month in drugs after insurance, and the long term health benefits that every diabetic gets to look forward to. Well it could be that, or some stem cell research could find a cure for me. But fock that, the garbage can is the better place for the embryos. That makes sense. Dumbest focking veto evah. Better that you go broke and die than an embryo be murdered.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:57 AM) I know you're being sarcastic but it's not even about looking at stats, that move was common sense imo. Seemed like an obvious decision to me, but I guess I was wrong. Anyways, I think I've b****ed enough about everything, so I'll let it go now. Oh I agree that it'd be common sense to bring in Cotts or Thornton at that time (I'd seriously prefer Thornton, though). You know, I just don't trust Cotts anymore to get out the big lefty. Or, I do, but in a tight ballgame, I'd prefer Matt, if that makes sense.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 07:23 AM) Try .372. But Ozzie doesn't look at stats -- he goes with his gut! Because it worked so well with Neal Cotts against Texas. I am, also, sick of Ozzie's poor managing, but I'd imagine that every manager makes a ton of mistakes in hindsight, and even a few that you know are dumb at the moment. I don't think there's a revolt going on, but if there is, and that's causing the slump, then the players need to shut up and play, whatever their beef with Ozzie. They're still a team, even if they don't like him, although I highly doubt that's the case.

You know, I'm really growing tired of losing, and I'm sick of our pitching. Freddy Garcia either needs to start taking steroids again or visit a doctor, because he's either got worms in his brain to make such a stupid choice as "stop throwing hard" or his shoulder is injured. Javier Vazquez is crazy in the coconut, which only leaves us three pitchers to rely on to win games. Buehrle, Garland and Contreras (yeah, I think we all know that Buehrle'll turn it around, and I think he's about there). What I'm saying is, we've got Contreras going today. Let's take advantage of it, especially considering who we're going up against. Just thank God it isn't Vazquez facing Johan.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) Very interesting. I don't see where Lee would work since Pods really isn't an option in CF. I have to think there is something going on or in KW's mind that none of us are thinking about or know of. Whether he has another move in mind (Paulie or Thome being moved for some major piece that frees up a DH spot for one of these bats) or we are going to acquire a new leadoff hitter. Maybe we get Soriano and than deal him and uribe for Furcal, cash, Broxton, and a boatload of prospects? Just throwing something out there cause Soriano could make some sense since he leads off, but Lee none. Oh my, I'd be pissed if we got rid of Thome. I don't think Lee is happening.

He's psychosomatic! That boy needs therapy. I'll stop singing Frontier Psychiatrist to myself, but I think of Javy when I hear that song.

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) I think if the Yankees get to the playoffs with the lineup they have been marching out there lately and a underperforming A-ROD I would go with Joe Torre You know, I'd like that, too, but I really think that whatever team wins the Central deserves it.

He's a nut. Crazy in the coconut!

Javy always makes "one or two" bad pitches after tossing a gem for five. That boy needs therapy.
