  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) If Hou wants to get rid of Vaz, they better be lowering the price. He is not elite anymore. You mean Lidge.
  2. Plus, Lidge's ERA was heavily inflated by his game against the Sox. He's been rough this year, but we really stuck it up his ass.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:35 PM) spiff, Vaz should be enough to get him. They are about equals. The only difference is Vaz can pitch 4 innings. Lidge can't make it out of one. Maybe Coop can straighten him out if he is physically healthy. Another Cooper project!
  4. I wonder how he'd react to being on the same team as Podsednik and Dye. I remember when Iguchi hit the grand slam off of Lidge -- oh, man, Lidge looked so scared of the bat when he was pitching to Podsednik, and it cracked me up. I knew he would walk him after the second pitch, and I knew it'd burn him, too.
  5. QUOTE(kevo880 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) He's pitching better than Vaz still. I'm guessing your some old dude that sees him as a pothead so you hold that against him and want him gone. I guess I don't like him cause I'm old and uncool. I don't know how much he smokes but I wouldn't be surprised if it's had a factor in him getting fatter, in his velocity going down, in everything that's happened to him. He went from leading the league in ERA in 2001 to being this. You think he's pitching better than Vazquez? He's got a better ERA, and more wins, but I'd take Javier over Freddy any day. I dread their starts, however: Freddy's because I expect him to give up a ton of homeruns and to show why his BAA is so high. Vazquez because I expect his meltdown to come.
  6. QUOTE(kevo880 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) I'm with you, he's going to be the top FA in the off season and we already have like the highest paid rotation in the majors. (didn't look it up but its for sure in the top 5) With that high of salaries for the pitchers you would expect them to perform...do you think kenny's just going to keep doing the same thing and just keep building the team salary higher and higher. I also realize you said to trade Freddy, but i would much rather trade Vaz. He has given up at least 5 runs in his last 9 starts or something like that and hasn't gotten to the 6th inning since mid may... Garcia at least gives us some quality outings. Freddy is getting fatter, losing velocity, and smoking too much marijuana. His offspeed stufff isn't sharp, and you can't live with the offspeed forever. F--- that.
  7. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) I dont think the SOX can afford to NOT sign Zito. Everyone forgets, the Tigers have money to spend, and the taste of success is addictive. The Tigers are going to get better next season, the SOX better know this. Zito isn't going to Detroit.
  8. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 11:34 AM) I know the season isnt "over" yet, but Ive already written 2006 off and have looked to 07 already. There are a number of Bullpen FA's available in the offseason that the SOX can pick off the pile to help there. This is a Must. Also, Starting Pitching. We need some again, and Barry Zito should be pursued at all costs, even it means dealing Freddy Garcia. Zito gives us another lefty in the rotation with an altogether different look from Buerhles. Vazquez, I dont want him in a SOX uniform next year. Kenny can be creative and get something in return for him. Do It Kenny.........but dont make a Pittsburgh-Pirate-esque trade and give the guy away. Get equal return, if not, Vazquez to the bullpen. I honestly believe Vazquez will be very good in the BP for the SOX and he can reinvent himself, much like Kirk McCaskill did for the SOX in 93. A solid outfielder/leadoff person puts the SOX right back in the forefront and again one of the teams favored to win it all I don't think we can afford Zito.
  9. Iguchi, Thome, Konerko, Crede, Pierzynski, Anderson will be here for sure. Dye could be traded, since it's not too unreasonable to suggest that this is his Career Year, but I doubt it. His contract is a steal, so we'd keep him unless overwhelmed. Uribe? I expect him here barring a Tejada-type. Podsednik is gone, from what I hear, although I'm not sure who would replace him. I could see him staying if we can't find a good enough replacement, but I think he'll be replaced. Thornton, Jenks, Cotts -- all should remain. Our pen looks set, except that someone'll have to replace Black Mack. Which brings us to the Starters. I fully expect Vazquez to be moved for Mack, or Freddy to. I'd prefer Freddy because he doesn't even have stuff anymore. He's a junkballer, and an unexceptional one at that. Buehrle, Contreras, Garland, Mack, Vazquez, I think. I'd like it if we got rid of Vazquez, too, to dump money, but then we'd have to find a replacement for him, too.
  10. So, the question asked me was, "REPUBLICANS ARE DOING NOT ONE THING BUT TWO THINGS LOLOLOLZ SO YOU CALL THEM DO-NOTHING?!?!?!" Yes, and they are. Putting something in motion for the purpose of it being killed, just so you can say "Well I tried but the opposition blocked it!" is so Worst Republican Congress.
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 12:22 PM) I can't believe where some guys put winning on their list of priorities. Even A-Rod, a guy that everyone hates, switched positions for a better opportunity to win. He decided that winning was more important than having the glory of being the SS. And the guy he moved for is actually a worse SS than him. Tejada won't move to 3rd for a guy that might be a better SS than him (OC)? I'm not sure how good Young is, though. Screw him. He apparently doesn't care very much about winning. Keep pumping those steroids there, Miggy. I used to be big on Tejada-is-on-steroids, but not anymore. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because of his consecutive games played.
  12. Thankfully I didn't get to watch. I listened on radio. But, oh man, I did a double take when they announced Pierzynski as third instead of Thome.
  13. Tonight's lineup was a f***ed up, hideous thing. There's something so deeply unintimidating about AJ Pierzynski batting third instead of Jim Thome.
  14. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 08:56 AM) Watched "punch drunk love" and "eternal sunshine of a spotless mind" last night. Both for the second time and both are quickly becoming favorites. Punch-Drunk! Anyone ever see, The Mother?
  15. Cooper can't simply be assigned a pitcher; he has to spot his prey, and pursue it himself. You can't bring a Matt Thornton to Cooper and say, "Fix!" He has to say, "I want him brung!"
  16. Thornton sure has been something lately. This whole year, really, but when there's a tight game, I prefer him on the mound to anyone in our pen, honestly.
  17. I used to be. I am disillusioned with pro wrestling, however.
  18. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Would you really want your daughter to have the female equivilant to this? You know, honestly, I think there's a reason that there's a sexual double standard for the genders, although a whore is a whore in either gender.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) No Well if no one from here does, I'll live. I'm just invitin'.
  20. Maybe we've just been talking to the As about bringing Frank Thomas back.
  21. In the fall, I have my debate season. Is anyone interested in coming to Opening Night with me, for moral support and company?

  23. Matsui and Sheffield are gone for the whole season, or at least until September, I read.
