  1. I think it's silly to say that because Thome is out, the offense is doing better. Bull. I do like, however, the way this team is built, and even without Thome, we've gotten good games from the rest of the guys. I'm not sure if they could sustain it for too long a time, and in fact I'd bet that they can't, but I like this team's depth, talent and resilency.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) On a team with some high salaried guys, he's a great fit. He gives you very dependable defense, and some power at the bottom of the order. I guess people forgot how bad it was when the likes of Valentin, Clayton, and Guillen were patrolling SS. Ozzie Guillen wasn't a bad shortstop! Not pre-injury, anyway.
  3. Yes. It's on the Sox site, too. Guillen was mad at him for getting lazy on the field.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) I agree. But those politicians are not going to tie their own hands. This isn't the exclusive technique of one party. No, you're right.
  5. Dye's defense is nothing to write home about. Nothing to be ashamed of, though.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 04:55 AM) Maybe the opposition should call their bluff and pass it. They'll get their new minimum wage. No wait. That can't happen, because the Republicans would then get the credit. We can't have that now, can we? Block it! You know, if I were in charge, we certainly would pass it, and then, I'll bet, George Bush would veto it. Regardless, I hate the practice of merging things for this purpose. It lacks honesty.
  7. I hope something good comes of this. People like Jose Contreras deserve to be able to go home.
  8. Before I comment on the "irony" of this story: this murder is disgustingly brutal. My stomach hasn't turned like this at the words describing a murder since I first read Helter Skelter. What on Earth could compel someone to savage another human being like this? QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/08/01/horowitz...fies/index.html So what say you now Mr. Horowitz? Got any pointers for the defense team? I don't like Horowitz at all - hell, I don't much care for defense attorneys -- but that's so utterly tasteless. But hey, at least you didn't go, "DEFENSE ATTORNEY DEFENDER OF MURDERS LOL EAT SH-T HIS WIFE'S DEAD HOW D'YOU LIKE IT GIMME A HELL YEAH!"
  9. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 05:08 AM) If Thome and Kong are both out today.... egads. No Thome or Konerko + Flamethrower Freddy on the bump + going for a sweep... I'm scared mommy honestly, I'm impressed by the way the team -- especially Gload -- have stepped it up.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) This is probably the worst topic subtitle in the history of SoxTalk. Believe!
  11. Let's hope that Freddy doesn't think we're his wife and he's Lex Luger. That might not turn out well. He'd better come out doing his best Hulk Hogan impersonation.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Cheesy, but maybe it will lead to something. The Sox are now the Outsiders in the American League. Pretty soon we'll be tossing Kenny Rogers like a dart and destroying Yankees. Come on Big Pessi, believe!
  13. Freddy'd better be able to beat down on the Royals. I know he has a reputation for pitching down to the competition, but at this point, he doesn't have the stuff to pitch down to anyone. As far as I'm concerned, he's a Royal, and he's gotta take them serious. Just keep us in the game, Garcia. The offense will follow. I especially hope to see Thome and/or Konerko in the game. Better safe than sorry -- better ready sooner than later!
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) David Riske did his best Hulk Hogan impression tonight. Perhaps it's a lead into a New Pen Order.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) The Rally Year Old Virgin is about to start on HBO. I'm getting carried away with this Rally stuff. I'm going to watch that movie. I like it. And Elizabeth Banks is delicious. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:33 PM) Or give her a taste of the back of fathom's knee for being so ignorant. Tombstone. It teaches a lesson, and sets up some schoolin'!
  16. This thread f------ sucked, and I never want to repeat it. Another win over KC wouldn't hurt, though.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) Buddy Bell must be sick of watching this crap from his staff. I hate the name Buddy.
  18. God, I don't like the way this game is going. Bring in Riske, and I don't like it. With the way Jenks has been pitching, I don't like him coming in, either. Oh no.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Getting X-rays is standard procedure. It's hard to break something where he got hit. Of course, what the hell do I know. I thought I had a cramp, and it ended up being appendicitis. I was going to make a joke about you thinking that you were on your period, but it wasn't as funny typed as in my head. When I was in seventh grade, parodying the Simpsons I said to a lunchlady, "Ooooh, my ovaaaaaaaries! They huuurt!" and she flipped, shouted, "HOW DARE YOU MAKE FUN OF WHAT A WOMAN GOES THROUGH!" and cried.
  20. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Let me tell you something dude, it happened because some people here just didn't believe in the power of Hulkamania brother. That's because some of us aren't about Sports Entertainment, brother, some of us are about wrestling, damn it!
  21. I don't think Paulie's going to play tomorrow.
  22. This is all because of the remarkable civility we displayed tonight. Bastards, all of you.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) I'm sticking with Eminem for MacDougal, no clue on what to call Thornton yet though. Is that you in your picture?
