QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) I feel like this election has already given our popularity around the globe the shot in the arm it so desperately needed. Obama has a strong support base, and I think he'll do an incredible job. The fact alone that he looks more like the rest of the world than a typcial white american will provide that shot in the arm. For every recession, there has been a recovery and there will be with this too. Doesn't matter who was elected, the economy would eventually improve. What is sad is that the average person will just assume it's because of Obama, when in fact it's more to due with economic incluences vs. governmental influences. With a war that is pretty much already won, and an economy that 18 months from now will only improve, there are a lot of positives on his side already.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 11:20 AM) Well, if it comes with 2 more years of Warranty through Best Buy (they just hand you the new system, you keep your hard drive), that has to make some sense, right? I have the above listed warranty (1st year's up this month, but two more years on top, and I play the sucker lightly) 360 Pro, the 360 HDMI cable, an extra controller, the wireless charger with an extra battery pack, and Madden 09/NBA 2k9. I think we could figure something out if you're serious. PM me. Looks like somebody is looking to obtain a PS3 and therefore play MLB the Show...............I'm jealous.

How great would it be to have a backcourt with 2 guards from Chicago, win a championship for Chicago.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 10:20 PM) Greg Oden looks absolutely terrible. And he is playing terrible!

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Oct 28, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) Rose should of had the double double, we missed 3 wide open shots at end. Nice debut for him and nice debut for Tyrus. Gordon/Hinrich also were very effective coming off the bench. Watching this game makes me wonder what we are going to do when Hughes is back, cycle Sefalosha out of the rotation is only thing I can see happening. Bingo! I was thinking the same thing about what to do when Larry is back, then realized Tabo will probably be odd man out. I think they planed to have Kirk and Ben come off the bench, and in effort to keep a consistent starting lineup, put Tabo in their until Larry is back. Hopefully everyone can get used to their roles. Nice all around game, especially impressed with Tyrus.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 22, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) The stances and swings are accurate in 2k8, and the Cell is pretty realistic. However, from that point on, the game is just terrible. The pitching is kind of neat, but there's still too many homeruns, fielders are too accurate on their throws, and you don't have as much control over your players as you would like. If I had PS3 (XBOX owner), I'd adore a chance to play the show. I've played it a few times and it's hands down a better baseball game. Thanks for the help! I had MLB 2K7 for about a month and got sick of it, but with the homeruns and stuff on 2K8, if you adjust the sliders does it help it out?

Thanks for the replies guys, but can you get more specific as to my question? I know about 90% of people like the show better, but for the things I like in a game as described above, im wondering what people think is the best. Thanks a bunch

Question: For anyone that has played or seen both MLB The Show 08 and MLB 2K8, which game is more realistic when it comes to players and there acutal tendancies? Take batting stances and swings for example. I've read quite a bit and most people say The Show is a ton better, but from looking on youtube, it seemed as if 2K8 had the players stances and swings more accurate. Also, which has the better version of US Cellular? Can anyone post a picture of the park? Thanks

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 21, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Well, this year's game has a full tutorial. Yeah, there's a learning curve because it's not just turbo dunk, but it's pretty amazing. The game actually plays at a faster pace (the pace I adjusted 2k8 to)... They finally adjusted so the players play like they should. Not just a bunch of players who take shots when they get a chance... the ball actually cycles through the point guard or main ball handlers, and the stars of the teams are the ones that kick your ass. It's real. D-Rose is awesome, by the way... they made him look so real. Now if only the Bulls had someone who could finish at the rim. Seriously, it's the best sports game I've ever played. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 11:19 AM) NBA 2k9 is f***ing amazing. Please elaborate.......... I was considering buying the game, but I was disappointed with last years model. Although, I did play it this weekend and switched the game speed setting to 100 and it was a lot more enjoyable. I just have such a hard time doing all the moves, etc. without running into other players and so on.

QUOTE (rudylaw @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) I have a cousin that is a cubs fan and his young kids were cubs fans as well until they started going to the Cell several times a year because he would often get free tickets to games from work. After going to the cell for a few games the children our now Sox fans and the dad is leaning that way as well. All of the things for kids to do at the park is the reason why. Running the bases and the fundamentals were the 2 key factors. No big deal now because the kids are just going into their teens but in 10 years when they have some money to spend it will be spent on the south side not the north side. You have another cousin who has raised 3 little White Sox fans, another cousin who will some day raise 3 more little White Sox fans and a odds are one of them will fill the hole in CF in 2035!

Does anyone here know where I can find more information about Sox players off the field. Like more about their hobbies, offseason homes, etc. Only thing I can really find close to what I'm looking for is nickswisher.net Any help appreciated

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) The horrible umpiring didn't help, but we lost the last two games because we didn't execute enough. I'm all for more instant replay, but this series is not an example of why it's needed. A series in which two game deciding runs scored on questionable calls that could have easily gone the other way to pretty much decide the AL Central is not an expample of why it's needed??
-
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:13 PM) Yeah, but if we won one this series and were 1.5 up, two Sox wins and just one lousy Twins loss and we wouldn't even have to bother with the Tigers make up game. Just woulda' been sooo much better for my sanity. I hear ya, but even if your scenario plays out, at least we still get that game. Which is the point to this thread, it isn't over.................

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 11:12 PM) I need white sox baseball in October. Same here, I'm not ready to watch Kirk Hinrich yet.

Here is another way to look at this in a positive way: Had we won tonight and been 1.5 games up, our magic number would have been 3. That being said. 1. Everyone expected us to lose to Cliff Lee 2. Everyone expects Minn to sweep KC In this case, we would still need to play the DET game and I'll take my chances on having to do that still and beating Minn on Tuesday. Key is we have to beat Lee. Or, as I believe win 2 out of 3 cause I can't see Minn winning 6 in a row.

8. Royals coming off a sweep Love AJ"s comment "We just gotta win 4 at home and kick their as* on Tuesday."
