I think its entirely possible for another FO to sell themselves on the idea of Eloy in LF for the short term, for the same reason our front office has. Eloy is younger, under contract with options longer, 1B as a back up plan is wide open in that system and the DH is coming to the NL. Pavin Smith has transitioned to the OF and its been pretty quiet with regards to Beer's future at 1B/DH. Christian Walker and Smith are not the answer long term for the d-backs at 1B/DH and they know that. Their farm system is lacking in impact bats that can play first base and their top 3 prospects are all talented outfielders. One doesn't have to squint hard to see a trade like this making sense for both franchises. Regardless enjoying the conversation @caulfield12

If Yermin is for real then you keep Vaughn in LF until he adjusts to being average to slightly below and you move Jimenez. Abreu is going to be given the Konerko treatment and will have his number retired and a stature in the outfield. I could see a situation like the following Jimenez to Arizona for Ketel Marte + RHP Slade Cecconi. Two often injured stars with similar contracts . That opens RH to move Marte to RF or 2B and move beyond Madrigal if he doesn't pick it up and the front office sours a move like this allows Vaughn to develop in LF until Cespedes/Colas force the issue or Abreu hangs it up and Vaughn moves to 1B. This is all predicated on Yermin being the next Justin Turner with the bat.

TLR asleep again? must be the west coast road trip draining him.
-
People so quickly to shit on Madrigal, only to be proven wrong as he did his job.
-
that was a non competitive pitch on 3-2, come on DK
-
Agreed, nice little row of very good approaches by Mercedes, Collins & Vaughn. If Robert makes the adjustment as we've begun to see, watch out.
-
It appears sox will be 5th in run differential tomorrow. Glad to see somethings starting to click. DK please don't shit the bed and try and make it past the 6th.
-
Come on Marshall.

Jose OP, plz don't nerf. Gotta say I have really enjoyed the ABs Yermin, Vaughn and Collins have shown up with today, very impressive.

Also Leury needs to be batting 9th if he is in this line up.

If Yermin and Collins to a lesser extent show they're capable major leaguers, then it presents a situation where you're going to have to move Eloy and possibly Vaughn. Abreu is here till he wants to hang them up for better or worse in a similar situation to Konerko. Lets just say for the sake of this post, Collins becomes a solid back up catcher and Mercedes is capable of 2 fWAR at DH while getting a little bit of time at 1B and C. At that point the lineup looks potentially like this '23 DH - Mercedes | Abreu | Grandal# | Collins* C - Grandal# FA after '23 | Collins* 1B - Abreu FA after '22, will be given the same treatment as Konerko | Grandal# | Collins* | Mercedes 2B - Madrigal after '26 SS - Anderson FA after '24 3B - Moncada# FA after '25 LF - ??? CF - Robert RF - ??? The dream is that Cespedes will take over RF and Colas* will take over left, so there is mounting pressure to move Eloy if those things come to pass; Mercedes shows he is an above average DH, Abreu not moving off 1B/DH till he is ready to hang it up, Vaughn with his pedigree merely existing within this timeline and two high profile international signings that could be ready by '22. As much as I love Eloy we could see a similar situation when the sox shipped off Carlos Lee. I could see an offseason where Eloy and Vaughn get shipped off in separate deals bringing back someone like Marquez from the Rockies

I was thinking more in the 95 range
