  1. The only good option in free agency going into next offseason is Michael Conforto, if the mets don't lock him up.
  2. Exactly Joc has been struggling in all facets of the game sans power.
  3. Would have preferred JBJ but this is fine as it gives time for Rutherford and Adolfo time to continue to progress as well as Colas once he is signed as he appears to be ticketed for AA for a warm up then AAA. Can always upgrade mid-season as well. Hes batting 8th ahead of Madrigal.
  4. I'm fine with Quintana as a 4/5 that will eventually give way to Kopech or Crochet. I could see the following happening with the pitching Giolito Keuchel* Lynn Quintana* Cease FA - Bradley/Hendriks/Colome/Hand Bummer* Heuer Marshall Foster Fry* Cordero Lopez with Crochet getting stretched out at AAA with Kopech. I see Stiever and Burdi as the first up in case of emergency
  5. so are they extending him because this seems like an overpay.
  6. 3 is not an outlier, thats a pattern.
  7. Again I would love Bauer/Springer/etc but being a sox fan has grounded my expectations in reality. KW always gets his man even if the sell by date is past expiration (i don't think thats the case with JBJ and i do think the price will be reasonable).
  8. My bold predictions: they sign Jackie Bradley 2/15, Jose Quintana 2/18 and Archie Bradley 3/18 with two options.
  9. The Phillies would have to kick in 80M+ with regards to harpers contract before they'd begin to see anything other than a token prospect or lotto ticket, Harper is sitting at an AAV of 24.9. Wheeler has a 24.12 AAV, he is projected to produce 3.1 fWAR next year and even with a glass half full approach his contract doesn't offer any surplus value; thats not say he and Harper don't have value, they do but the Phillies would need to eat roughly a 1/4 to 1/5th of his contract to get anything beyond a token prospect. With that said if they Phillies want to throw in the appropriate amount of money where it becomes appealing to the sox they should use some of their prospect depth and make the move to shore up their weakness in RF and SP for this window.
  10. I doubt this applies to the sox verbal deal with Colas but yeah that is going to screw things up in terms of development and young super stars for the sport. Also the inability to trade draft pool money is dumb as well. Maybe this is why Colas is hosting a work out because the sox were caught with their pants down?
  11. I get Josh Johnson vibes from Kelley and its awesome he will be leading the tertiary wave: Kelley, Thompson, Dalquist and Vera
  12. I don't agree with that idea, Eloy isn't long for the outfield and will eventually take over as DH in the not too distant future. Signing Colas or Cespedes both whom need time in the minors (Colas possibly less as evidence by his cup of coffee) could easily slot in LF or move Springer to LF.
  13. I look foreword to landing both Norge Vera and Colas, is it possible to land any of the other top 30?
  14. For him personally he wants to meet the people and get an understanding for himself of the individual and the direction of the organization. From a macro perspective its unwise to hire someone who turns off any FA as they could be the key to winning the world series.
  15. To quote the words of Official White Sox Sponsor Beggar's Pizza he is "laying it on thick".
  16. Here is what I'd like to see the sox do this off-season. Give McCann a QO no way in hell he is going to take it seeing how catching is at a premium and whomever loses out on Realmuto will likely spend on him. Worst case we have him on our team for 1 more year and he can be dealt as well. In this scenario i'm assuming we pick up the comp pick. Decline the options of EE & Gonzalez and DFA Mazara and Rodon; time to move on. Work out a contract with Yolmer in a similar fashion to Garcia's last year; obviously wants to stay here after testing out free agency and seeing it blow up in his face. He hit well enough in his abbreviated stint here, and we need left handed bats for the bench and flexibility. Sign Quintana to a 2/18 with option and buy out. Sign Ha-seong Kim to a 6/54 deal. He'll be 25 at the start of the season and would add a different dimension to this team, plays SS and 3B. Anderson - SS - 27 Moncada# - RF - 25 Abreu - DH - 34 Jimenez - LF - 24 Robert - CF - 23 Grandal# - C - 32 Vaughn - 1B - 23 Kim - 3B - 25 Madrigal - 2B - 24 Collins* - C - 26 Sanchez# - IF - 29 Garcia# - UT - 30 Engel - OF - 29 Giolito - SP - 26 Keuchel* - SP - 33 Dunning - SP - 26 Quintana* - SP - 32 Cease - SP - 25 Bummer* - CL - 27 Heuer - SU - 24 Marshall - SU - 31 Foster - SU - 26 Cordero - MR - 29 Fry* - MR - 27 Burdi - RP - 26 Crochet* - LR - 21 Payroll including retained and buy outs comes in at about 110M roughly. If McCann accepts 127.5M.
  17. Agreed, why sign Joc to perform worse than Adam against RHP, hes lost a couple steps in the outfield as well. Brantley or Kim with Moncada moving to RF
  18. Good, he quit on this franchise.
  19. Thats 115M guaranteed not taking into account his vesting option, 65M now since 50M is deferred, not even taking into account his full NTC. I'd welcome the purposed deal but I'm skeptical it happens.
  20. Harper's contract is roughly 274M not including signing bonuses; and hes projected to produce 284M in value at 35.5 fWAR, so his surplus value is likely more than 10M when you factor in inflation. If Philadelphia is going to rebuild I'd welcome him on this team seeing how most of the core is locked up. The question then becomes how much if any is Philly willing to kick in to move his contract and could we also get Wheeler added into the mix?
