The Marlins have decided on 22yr old Alejandro De Aza as their opening day CFer, he's looked great this spring(.359/.372/.550) in 40ABs, 1BB/4SO 4sb 2cs. He will be batting 8th in the order, hes also a rule 5 draftee('04) from the dodgers. wish this kid the best of luck and i'm hoping he can preform like Uggla

i love the message were sending to the kids down on the farm, even if you post a 0ERA in spring unless your in with Ozzie, GTFO N00BZ0rz!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) They never fouled off tough pitches last year. We'd take so many called third strikes. I'll have my Pods called 3rd strike counter going this year. Someone should keep track of how many times Thome takes a called third strike on a full count, and starts running towards first to try and sell it.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Oh, absolutely despises them. It just so happens Guillen sees this image whenever Danks pitches: And he's referred to as Jesus Danko -- a second generation Mexican immigrant who is the co-owner of a profitable burrito stand. Side stories help reinforce the decision.

i think Haeger and Logan should get the last spots. Logan proved last year he can go more than one inning; and last year once Charlie was called up he was very successful out of the pen. Sisco should be stretched out to start and challenge for a spot in the rotation next year. Aardsma is the first one called up provided hes doing well.

nice pick off by danks, and he gets the K

lol, cub fans need someone like woo woo in the stands to distract them from the car wreck they call a team on the field. surprised the royals and pirates haven't embraced someone like Woo to front their organization i mean honestly who cares about George Brett & Roberto Clemente; hey lets play two.

Scott Radinsky FTW, i grew up watching him throw for the sox and listening to pulley and ten foot pole.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 04:53 PM) Fine, Boston can give us Pedroia. Kenny has put together a nice collection of young arms. However, we still don't know what we are really going to get out of any of them. At this point of time, Russell just gives us a better chance of having a few pan out. You and I both know they all won't all turn out to be big leaguers. Granted, Russell's value might be at an all time high after this ST, but I have loved what I have seen, and it would probably be a mistake at this point to deal him. lol @ Pedroia, he would be nice, but i doubt they'd give up their starting second basemen. But i could see the sox giving up Jed Lowrie who had some nagging injuries last year and Jon Egan, Since they've got Pedroia and Kottaras. Egan could be ready by the time AJ & Hall's contracts runs out. I too have loved what i've seen from Russell this spring, but i think we see Sisco/Gio/Danks ahead of him along with Broadway & McCulloch and Haeger, there is just so much depth in our system right now then add into the mix Garland has two years left with us 3 for Jose and 4 for Javy.
-
MI/C depth would be a start, we've got alot of safe arms and a few live ones, i just don't see a place for russel on this team at this juncture.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) After today, does Russell become a dark horse? no, his stock as a starter > that as a reliever and we have alot of talented relievers. i think hes a dark horse to get traded before opening day.

nice pitch by Sisco.

+ 1 to the legend. time to break out the coon skin cap.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Their success depends solely on the health of that rotation. Sabathia, Westbrook, and Lee...if they're healthy, they're going to be good. If I'm not mistaken, Garko will be starting at 1st with Hafner at DH. But they're definitely going to rely on Garko and Barfield to produce. But with Hafner, Martinez, Blake, and Sizemore in the lineup...wow. i agree. I'm not entirely sold on Matre; his last 500+ professional ABs have been maso menos to say the least. i think barfield will thrive outside of petco and in that young clubhouse. thier bp is going to be their achilles heel. the tribe like every team in the central has their question marks and honestly i couldn't pick one team at this juncture guaranteed the post season.

didn't gammons get the memo; the red sox finished behind the jays last season...

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) Offensively Kouz will, and that I figure is a certainty, unless of course you're talking VORP wise here, in which case I have no idea. That was a good trade for both teams though, because Cleveland just has an overload of talent that they can use, so Kouz was expendable. i agree i think Kouz is going to rake this year, but i think Garko is going to be a sox killer , well i should say in general a very deadly hitter. the tribes line up is scary.

Danks with the SO.
-
who do you think is going to preform better this year? Kouzmanoff or Barfield.
