QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Let's go Haeger! indeed. i think Chuck can hold down the 5th starter role just as well as McCarthy would've; except with more IP. 299 more to go Chuck. from KWs conference call, our BP is going to be NASTY! hopefully they'll all find the strike zone, apparently Sisco is going to be the long man out of the pen to work on all his pitches and eventually get back into the rotation. Sisco, Masset, Aardsma, MacDougal, Thornton, Jenks with Perez and Logan down on the farm.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Barring a huge White Sox move, I'd love it if Haeger wound up our fifth starter. That boy's going to be > than Tim Wakefield someday. fixed

i think he missed the boat on Logans grade a lil bit, and Phillips and Perez should been in the top 20(15ish). i also think fields grade is a low, yes he strikes out a ton, but he also draws the walk. i was really impressed that he drew 5 walks to 8 strike outs at the ML lvl.

In other good news for McCarthy, he will now be able to sport #35.

QUOTE(RX Bandits @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) please, i want NOTHING from st.louis. especially reyes. but I agree, I'm sick of the overreaction With Gio and Danks, the sox have there future/s LHP, Wainwright and Reyes interest me. Reyes much like McCarthy has been constantly jerked around that organization, i would love to see him and his flat billed cap on the south side.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 23, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Hooray for being the Florida Marlins. +1 kinda I'm sad to see McCarthy go, i really am, good thing i got a PK jersey instead of a McCarthy one . Coop and KW must like what they seen in Haeger and IMO Haeger is now the 5th starter i happen to believe Haeger will put up an ERA a lil south of 4.50 and give us a ton of IP and a chance to win every time he takes the ball, thats all i can ask. Yay for Chuck. I hope to see Mark moved maybe to St. Louis for Reyes/Wainwright and Anderson/Rasmus or possibly to Toronto for Rios and a prospect. I love the over reaction on the board. Have some faith.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 17, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) No it wouldn't. In addition that would be an absolute robbery by the Blue Jays. +1

i like this move, hopefully the market will correct it self in two years but regardless this is a very nice move by the FO. lets hope Herm can keep the back end of our BP healthy.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 07:50 AM) Yeah, I hate how there are improving this team this year and in the future.....

Yeah that defiantly wasn't a good deal. Hall or Jose Molina should become available soon and hopefully on the cheap. Molina doesn't hit lhp well but he calls a good game and would make a good back up and Hall over the last 3 years against LHP has hit .297 so thats encouraging.

did that deal just happen? well aparently that happened yesterday, while i was out bowling. 3yrs 16mil

The moves i would make if i were KW. Sign Bengie Molina please, as everyone has stated if AJP goes down we're screwed. He was used in a platoon back up role in Toronto and he would help us against LHP. Hes a nice right handed bat to come off the bench and hes a two time GGer and hes pretty clutch. Send Uribe and Rogo to the Giants for Vizquel. Send Jon to Texas along with Scott for Arias Hurley Volzquez and Masset. Deal Phillips and possibly Logan to the Reds or Yankees for Melky Cabrera or Chirs Denorfia 07 white sox LF Cabrera/Denorfia S/R SS Vizquel S DH Thome L 1B Konerko R RF Dye R C AJP L 3B Crede R 2B Iguchi R CF Anderson R SP: Jose, MB, Javy, McCarthy, Floyd/Volquez/Haeger BP: Jenks, MacDougal, Thornton, Aardsma, Floyd/Volquez/Haeger/Logan/Perez Bench: Molina, Gload, Mackowiak, Ozuna, Cintron Denorfia and Cabrera can both play CF. Beyond 07: Try to re-sign MB to a deal similar to Oswalt and if not let him walk for draft picks. Move Jose to open spots a spot in our rotation for Broadway, Hurley, Volquez/Floyd, Haeger and Gio and fill organizational needs (possibly a young C or 2B depending on the '07 draft). Let Crede prove '06 wasn't a career year and if he does offer him a contract similar to Paul's; the market will eventually correct itself, and if not move him. Also depending on how 07 is going for Crede if he has truly turned the corner and your going to open the check book for him, start attempting to convert Josh to 2B if not Josh takes over in '08 at the hot corner. Offer Dye a reasonable contract if he performs in '07 remotely close to what he did in '06, if not take the draft picks and let Sweeney take over in RF. I view Vizquel and Uribe in the same light, Juan has done nothing but regress at the plate and Omar is 40 years old '07 could very well be his last year; to me they're both 1 year players. Arias takes over at SS in '07.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
beautox replied to BobDylan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
After reading all 43 pages of this thread, i can honestly say I'm alright with this deal. I know some people here grow tired of hearing "Coop can fix them" but he does have a propensity for helping/fixing power arms. Floyd is only 23; I for one am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and a year to work with Cooper. We all know what Gio features, and i'm glad to have him back in our system he just turned 21 and hes been pretty young for his level of competition. If just one of these two turns out to be ML average within the next 18months i will consider this a win for the white sox. If either of them reaches their ceilings i will have considered this a coup(no pun). With this 10mil saved an a log jam of ML pitching, i pray KW signs Molina up as our back up catcher, and that this is a precursor to a move that brings the sox a good SS(Vizquel/Furcal) & LFer(Willits/Denorfia/Cabrera) and we ship Podsednik off to the rockies, rangers or padres and Uribe off to the Dodgers or Giants. Lastly i still wouldn't be against moving another pitcher Garland/Vazquez + Podsednik to Texas for Arias + Hurley + Volzquez + Masset. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) I don't think Piazza is that good of a player anymore. I still don't get why so many teams gush all over him. Than again this is coming from the one person in the world that doens't feel he's a hall of famer (mainly because I refuse to call him a catcher since he was so ungodly awful defensively). Skip Bayless is that you? but seriously i think Piazza is a Hofer even if he was a butcher behind the dish, he still had to deal with the grind beind the plate. and all i can say about his 1997 season is wow!

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) I hope the Sox draft Mel Kiper's Hair Helmet this year. Kiper's hair looks similar like Ted Danson's circa cheers, which must mean its fake. you be the judge.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) Either the Mets or the Rangers now will officially be looking for a top-of-the-rotation sort of guy, with the Cubs, Mariners, Angels, Padres, and a bunch of others on the outside. Either you deal with Boras, or you deal with KW. Me Likey.
