That called strike was way outside the zone on Gameday. Is he getting the calls? -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) I f***in hate derek jeter.... Me too, but I have him in fantasy this year, and hes a stud in that aspect. -
I really, really love the combo of Ed Farmer and DJ. The awkwardness and sarcasm between the two is just absolutely hysterical!

So what do we do about Jenks? It sounded like he was struggling today. -

Nice swing by Becks, right at the LF. Just our luck. -

Good news about Kotsay batting today: the more ABs he gets, the closer he'll be to getting DFA'ed. So, Ozzie, please, continue to play Kotsay. Once his BA drops to around .050 you'll HAVE to get rid of him. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) I heard that also. Kotsay and Vizquel aren't even hitting .200 combined. HAHAHA. Now that's funny. Seriously though, when was the last time we had a good bench? I literally can't think of a single time where I said, "damn, we have a competent bench." Maybe back in the early days of my fandom, like '03.. but I can't remember.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) DID we really start a line-up with lowest cumulative OPS after APRIL 28th in the history of MLB? I just heard that from the Rangers' announcers, they were belittling N. Perez for giving up hits to AJ, Ramirez and ALMOST Kotsay, who actually blistered a ball at SMOAK. You can run a computer simulation with our line-up, we would win that game one time out of ten with our line-up. A record's a record..

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:58 PM) Its time to get him out of that spot. If he starts hitting, then move him back perhaps, but he's killing the team. The Sox worst pitcher leads in appearances and their most unproductive regular leads in ABs. Its early still, but time for that to change. BUT HE HAS 9 STEALS!!!!

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) That's a game that should get a manager fired. Literally made every wrong move he could tonight. f*** YOU OZZIE! Yup. Any manager but Ozzie would be held accountable. Has Kenny ever called out Ozzie for his stupid s***? We should just do something radical. Let the fans run the team. Set up some kind of computerized system to let people cast their lineups and just go with what the people want. I'm sure we'd be doing better than Oz at this point.
-
Randy Williams gives up the GW run (as it turns out) and Pierre grounds out weakly to the SS with Jones on deck.. Ozzie takes the bump for this one. How many is that this season now?
-
What do SABRmetrics say about the number of games a manager costs a team? Anything? Is there any kind of stat for it? He looked safe to me.
-
Wow. No Jones here. Awful, awful decision there Oz.
-
And that play was HUGE. Hawk was right.
-
Hey.. he'll take 'em however he can get him. God knows he can't EARN one.
-
Surprise! AJ didn't pop out the first pitch!
-
Yep, looks like Widger was batting .182 in 78 ABs before we let him go in '06.
-
.121. I think Chris Widger was batting higher than that when he was DFA'ed. Although, maybe he was at .109 or something..
-
Now that was a good swing there. Way to go CG.
-
Oh, and Beckham was just released in my two fantasy leagues..
-
I agree that Beckham should be lower. I think 6th would suit him right now. Give him a chance at some (theoretical) RBIs, and take some pressure off of him. As we saw in '05 with Iguchi, the number 2 spot is key to our lineup's success.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 28, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) He'll be fine. He struggled last season too. Many wanted him sent back to the minors. He's learning a new position, that can't help him and he probably is pressing like a bunch of other guys on the roster. There's no more sure thing on the White Sox roster than Gordon Beckham being the best player on the team for years. I've heard that so much.. but he REALLY looks bad right now. I know, its his second season, 20 games in.. I'll give him time. I have refrained from ragging on him a lot so far this year just because I saw his potential last year, and I know he's got a really pretty swing. Man, those months last year where he was hitting .300+ and just smacking doubles left and right, I was ecstatic. I made sure I saw every at bat of his that I could, because he fascinated me so much. It was almost like watching Griffey Jr. or Frank as a kid. Mesmerizing.

I still think the most depressing thing about this season has been how awful Beckham has been.. I really hope he turns it around, because I don't want to be a fan of the franchise that ruined Bacon..
