QUOTE(bschmaranz @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Is Figgins, Crawford, Dye or Jones going to play catcher? LOL
-
I believe this is one of the few ways in which I wouldn't mind getting rid of BA, but not for some insane package of our young pitchers. I'll let this unfold and see where it goes..
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 12:07 AM) Uribe's glove is gold glove caliber. Think about it this way. He had to work to fend off Brian Anderson for the worst starters batting average. But beyond that, BA's OBP was 33 points higher.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) hmm maybe that he has back-to-back 18 win seasons, he's still young, getting better. proven to be clutch in the playoffs and in big games, he's signed for 3 more years. you may call it gushing, im saying sox fans who dont want to see him go are smart. especially since we have 2 pitchers heading into their final year of their contract. trading buerhle or garcia just makes more sense to me. I wouldn't go as far as to say he is "clutch" in the playoffs. He has only played in 2 playoff games. Don't get me wrong, he dominated in the playoffs last season, but I don't think 2 games is enough to be clutch. I agree though, Garland should definately not be traded. Winning 18 games in two straight seasons is good, whether you consider wins a real stat or not. Garcia and/or Buehrle should be traded before Garland.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 12:02 AM) People are seriously getitng upset that we are possibly ditching the tasmanian devil. A guy who would literally swing at a ball bounced in. A guy who hit .235 and basically told the radio crew, I am going to hit a home run every single time. The same people upset at this are probably the same that are bent out of shape that we didnt keep Clutch Valentin, and the super sub known only as OMIT. Watching Uribe swing a bat is the most sickening display of crazyness I have ever seen. He cannot control himself, and his front foot for the most part winds up facing the third baseman as he poses for his dong. Meanwhile the catcher is firing that ball over to 3rd because Taz decided to swing at the close neck high pitch on 0-2. Come on now. ^^^ Even if this is some sick display of sarcasm, its totally true. He is the worst hitter I've seen in a long time. Sure, his defense is pretty good (not GG caliber), but hes got one of the worst hitter's eyes in the league.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) You don't trade GG defensive SS's for relievers. Remind me again how many GG's Uribe has?
-
If we do this trade, I will be very, VERY upset with K-dub. Wow.

USA TODAY BASEBALL WEEKLY TRADE SUGGESTION
TitoMB345 replied to winninguglyin83's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Im all over this trade, in fantasy, but I know it just wouldn't work out. -
If Alou can bat leadoff and steal 35 of 40 bases, I'm all for it.
-
That makes me REALLY, REALLY happy that hes on our team. These guys are willing to risk their jobs for him. NICE!
-
I should fly to my family's house in Tucson and try to find Brian
-
I love the remark about the paltry .290 OBP. Hahahaha, I guess he missed the stats on Uribe.
-
Mike Lowell > Joe Crede > Eric Chavez. Just more proof that the Gold Glove is pretty much a "People know my name more than they know yours" contest. What a f***ing joke.
-
NOOOO! I hugged him once, hes sweet.
-
AH, it was nice to kick back and watch the DVD. Teary eyes and all, it was worth it. Now its back into real life, and that isnt so good.
-
Man, I got chills listening to that. I'm going to go watch the DVD. Peace.

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) Who's going to be the first person to start a "White Sox should trade Dye" thread now? PERSONAL ATTACK!! jk
-
If they trade Dye, I will die.
-
Ugh, the good times. Thanks. Funny as hell though.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Don't forget just what a good baseball player ARod is, it gets lost in the NY media. If the White Sox can get him for BMac and Crede, and they can afford him I say do it. Me too, as long as they have faith in Fields to develop at the pro-level.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) A-Rod would bat 3rd here. Anyways, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned but at SI.com it was said that Alex wouldn't waive his no trade to come here because of Ozzie. Who knows if that's true but it's interesting with out a doubt. You really think Ozzie would take Dye out of the 3 hole? He excelled there at the end. What would that do to Konerko? 6th? Konerko is not a 6th hitter.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) Actually, of the teams that have rumored to be interested in ARod the Angels have the best chance at landing him because of Santana, Figgins, Kendrick, Wood and the rest of their loaded farmsystem. As for the Sox, if KW isn't willing to part with McCarthy then I don't think the Sox have much of a chance. Well, at this point, if they weren't willing to start McCarthy at the end of last season, then I see no reason why he couldn't be traded. I think we could put a package together to rival the Angels one. But the question is, where would A-Rod rather go? To Chicago, and hit what, 6th? I mean, I don't think they'd break up the 3-4-5 of Dye-Konerko-Thome (the way it SHOULD be). If he went to the Angels, he'd hit anywhere from 3-5. So its really up to him.
-
QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) Let's get this Arod thing done. ESPN is just now saying that Pinella wants him on the Cubs. I saw that, but I think we are the best prepared to get it done. We got what they want.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Ronny Cedeno. Ronny Cedeno: .271 OBP, .245 AVG, much lower SLG but hes not a power hitter like Uribe supposidly is.
-
QUOTE(shoota @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) He's not the only poster who thinks Uribe is a bad player. I've had enough of his impatient, CLUELESS plate approach combined with his overall poor hitting success. I'm not worried about Uribe's criminal activity potentially hurting the Sox because his departure is addition by subtraction.
