QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) It may just be because of the much larger difference in performance between our "2" center fielders, but I feel a lot worse when Mack gets a start than I do when Cintron does. Agreed, that was another big reason for me in choosing Anderson. And, as someone also mentioned, Anderson doesn't let his plate struggles affect his play in the field.

ST Poll: Who's the most clutch player on the Sox?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) It's just as simple as this. Tie game, must-win, bottom of the ninth...who do you want up? For me, it's sure as heck Crede. Bingo, I agree. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?ac...ost&id=5302 -
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) Right now, we need Brandon McCarthy to take over every slot in the rotation. Not so sure that should be greened....

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) I value Scott Podsednik's defense the most because everytime he actually catches the ball I'm relieved. Actually, out of these two options, I would say Brian Anderson's because our outfield defense has been so subpar this year. Of course I would say that Joe Crede is the best defensive player on this team, and Konerko's ability to pick balls out of the dirt at 1st also often goes overlooked. Very true... somehow, Crede completely slipped my mind when I started this, so I changed it to Uribe and Anderson being two of the top three defenders The reason I choose Uribe and Anderson though, is because they are both hitting so poorly, so I just want to see which one people tolerate more.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) or the fake to first, fake to third move that everyone starts screaming about... The definition of a balk makes this a balkable move. Umpires just don't call it.
-
Whose defense do you guys think is more valuable to the team? I think they are two of the top three defenders on this team, even though I bash Uribe every now and then. I'm just curious to see what most of ST thinks on the subject, as these two guys are sometimes referred to as "automatic-outs" at the bottom of the lineup. My thoughts are that Brian Anderson's is more valuable, and I feel if we had to choose to only have one "terrible" hitter at the bottom, it would be Brian. Discuss, and let's try not to bash too much.

To have any chance of winning the division...
TitoMB345 replied to Harry&JimmyRocked's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) What the hell is so annoying about it anyway? The point is, the Wild Card team has as good a chance as any to win the World Series as evident by the amazing playoff success the WC winning team has had in recent years. Because all I heard from everyone last year was how Boston was going to Dominate because the WIld Card had won like the previous four world series. People just go with these stupid patterns and they think they have to be true. -

QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:49 AM) If I can be assured of the possibility of getting into the playoff to obtain your so-called "Wild Card World Series Crap", I will take it in a heartbeat. Get into the playoff first, either as the divisional leader or the wild card, then we'll talk about how crappy the 2006 World Series trophy is going to be. No, What I meant was I am tired of people saying "WIN THE WILD CARD CAUSE THE WILD CARD ALWAYS WINS THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!111" That's what is annoying, not actually winning the Wild Card. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) Didnt Jose Valentin have a play where he tagged out 2 baserunners at 2b? That to me was more fun than the Fisk play. Also how is it possible that 2 of the top3 webgems in the history of our franchise are within what 20-30 games of each other. Because, no matter how you look at it, those two plays are just unbelievable. I STILL can't figure out how the hell Iguchi got that throw off.

QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 07:46 AM) I don't care about the division. (The Wild Card has won the WS quite a bit recently.) Just continue to play better and better and win series. The more important heads-up games are probably against the Twins. First off, that Wild Card World Series crap is annoying. And we do need to sweep Detroit to have any shot at the division, but we must take 2/3, or else we're completely screwed. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Mac sucking it up out there. Really not a major league quality pitcher. Agreed. Get him out of there!

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Yes, he should have looked back WHILE running and noticed that it was a pitchout, then run back to first. If you are stealing, you are stealing. You don't look back. No, I'm saying, he usually knows if they are going to pitchout, because he can read the pitcher/catcher situation.
-
QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:09 PM) It was a pitchout. Unless the arm behind the plate is Mark Piazza, you'll be caught. He should have known, he usually gets good reads on things like that.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) If Damon and Pods played catch with each other in the outfield, they would need a cut-off man. HAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. OMG, two of the best posts yet in this thread.
