  1. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) It's a good argument for JD in the 3 hole where he hit with some success last year, too. My only concern would be the timing of the move - it's late in the season and everyone's got a role right now and to mix that up could go either way. Can we afford to have it backfire? Every game is a playoff game from here on out. It's not a big enough change to have a backfire, I don't believe. This is just a smart move to protect against lefties.
  2. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) I'm still shooting for the Central. This homestand is huge. We need to put the Angels away fast and show the Yankees and Detroit just who the defending World Champs are. We are only 7 losses in back of Detroit...that is not by any means insurmontable when we play them 10 times. We've won 6 out of 9 against them and if we put a whopping on them Friday, don't think for a second it won't be in their heads. If they start pressing against us and we take it head on, they'll start pressing against everyone else. They'll know they have to win those games cause they can't beat the Sox. It doesn't take that much to get a mental edge and once you have it half the battle is over. We need to get back to smacking them around. If we can take 7 out of the 10 from Detroit and I don't see why that's so unrealistic, then we can win the division. They will not fold without pressure, so we need to crank it up NOW!! Even winning 7 of 10 only gives us 4 games in the standings. Meaning we would have to count on them to lose 5 times while we win. We need to win atleast 8 of 10 to have a chance at the division.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Runs scored: 1. White Sox 619 2. Red Sox 600 Leave the offense alone. That's a pretty stupid argument. We've had a ton of blowouts. And we're 15-14 in 1-run games. Making small changes to the lineup could make that 20-9.
  4. Sounds good, but we all know it won't EVER happen. Ozzie is stubborn.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) Not with the people who get bigger press than Crede. He'd have to be playing better defense than he has thus far this season. I mean he'd have to be doing everything right to get enough attention. Jon Kruk did list him as one of the most underrated, under-the-radar clutch hitters today on Baseball Tonight. Apparently, Crede has 17 go-ahead RBIs this year, which is like not many behind the lead (Ortiz, I believe).
  6. Phew, atleast we don't have to face Ryan now. We can get some on, get one in, and THEN face Ryan to kill our momentum.
  7. Grand Slam by Sweeny today, the future LF of the White Sox, hopefully, in a few years. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) Just like we did against Palepbon, Ryan, Dempster, ect... right? Who HASN'T scored runs against Dumpster? The guy is terrible.
  8. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) It's Pratt. And it's because we've racked up runs on nearly every "elite" closer we've faced. We're racked up runs, but we always come one or so short. The game against the Yanks comes to mind. I believe we loaded up the bases, and AJP had an incredible AB but just couldn't get it done.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) You'll be able to follow baseball a lot better if you don't listen to a word the manager/GM/announcers say about how they're going to play the game. Well, I guess Im just stupid to expect the manager to manage the game correctly, and not blow 20 games wide open.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:28 PM) Again, there are about 20 other games where Ozzie probably should have pulled the pitcher sooner than he did today. Agreed. But before those games, he always said I want my pitcher to get the win. In a recent interview, he talked about taking people out on a high note to give them some confidence, and get the team a win. It's 100% obvious he didn't do that today. I finally thought Ozzie was learning how to manage, and it all relapsed today, apparently.
  11. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) If the search engine was on (*COUGH*), I could probably prove you wrong on this Activate it please, so he can try.
  12. It's okay, we'll just score 3 off B.J. Ryan.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Wow...I can name 20 other games off the top of my head which were more disturbing. This one takes the cake because of what Ozzie recently said about taking pitchers out on a high note, and trying to get the team a win. He CLEARLY reverted back to his old self and left Jose out there. And it backfired, again, like ALWAYS.
  14. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Short-term memory? I seem to remember people saying this after nearly every single loss this year. Not I.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:24 PM) Yeah, he's gone overboard today. Take a step back Tito....it will be ok! This game has pissed me off more than any all year.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) You dont have a clue, period. Yes, and Ozzie made the right decision to leave a struggling Jose on the mound with 100 pitches. Oh wait, no he didn't, he gave up 2 more runs.
  17. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) Your more than welcomed to go and ask for the job, since you know to think what move to make on every situation that the Sox are in. Half of us here could do a better job than Ozzie at managing the bullpen, period.
  18. It's okay guys, we went 6 for 9 on this roadtrip, against two of the worst teams and then the best offense. Oh wait, did I mention the Tigers swept?
  19. It's seriously getting to the point where I wouldn't mind a new manager in the offseason. Or maybe create a new position, Pitching Manager. Let Ozzie keep his job so people don't freak out BECAUSE HE WON TEH WORLD SERIES OMGZ! Enough is enough, we've lost an unbelievable amount of games because of bag managing. Now, I'm not saying we would have won all of these games, but Ozzie's bad managing has put so many of them completely out of reach.
  20. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) and cleveland leaves the bases loaded. dropping another game to everyone today. not good. Tigers sweep, sox can't. gosh darn. Tigers don't play to win 2/3, they go for the wins. Shocking, I know.
  21. What a shocker, the bullpen lets an inherited runner score. Too bad there shouldn't have been any runners on when MacD should have come in. fishing Ozzie blowing another cose game wide open with his fishing dumbass managing.
  22. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) I just woke up can I have a summary of what went on please? We dominated the first 3 innings, Jose pulled a Javy, Ozzie pulled an Ozzie, going back on his previous statements about getting the win for the team, and now we face a 2 run deficit, and the Jays have a good closer. Oh, and our 6-7-8 hitters have pretty much sucked.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) Yay, bring in MacD with 2 outs and after a run already scored. BRILLIANT Remember, Ozzie is taking the pitchers out when they need to come out. *plays his fiddle with glee*
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) No one is defending Podsednik, not me nor Felix. Tito made a dumbass comment about our offense not being 'real', despite leading the league in runs scored, so I called him on it. Yes, of course I'd love a guy with a .500 OBP leading off. Oh well, we don't have him, and Pods will probably get the boot next year so we can all sing and dance. But for the next two months, he's our leadoff man, so that's that. You're the one making the dumbass comments. Our offense would be so much better if we had a legit leadoff man, no matter how you look at it. And now you're just being stupid with the .500 OBP exaggeration.
