  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) With the exception of the high heater to Glaus (which Glaus hit out by not over-swinging, letting the fastball supply the power), Jenks looked really good. He was getting the hook over, which almost always means doom for opposing hitters. The gun on the screen had Bobby at 96-98. Bingo, thats what the problem is with a flamethrower.
  2. QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) FWIW, the Royals have outscored the Sox and Jays since the ASB. What does that have to do with a small typo in the article?
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Hailed a taxi. :uhoh Haha, but really, how did he do it? Where was it hit to?
  4. QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Looks like the Sox have a real chance to reach 3 million in attendance this year. I was talking to a season ticket rep at the party last week and he said they've started selling SRO tix in order to help get to that mark. It's a remarkable turnaround for a franchise that most local media had written off as recently as 2004. I remember hearing George Ofman that year say they'd never draw 2 million again. I'm still waiting for the barrage of stories chronicling this attendance boom, ya know to offset all the stories over the last 10 years about how no one went to the park. They sell SRO tickets? I did not know that. I thought only older stadiums with lots of room did that (Fenway and Wrigley, I know they do).
  5. WHAT!? WHAT!!??? DID I MISS SOMETHING!? How the CRAP did Konerko beat out an infield single?!
  6. Problem with a 100 MPH fireballer is that if a strong hitter gets a hold of a high fastball, its going to go. Thats just how it works. I didn't see the game, so I cant comment on how Jenks looked, but he struck out the side so I guess he did pretty decent.
  7. Lol, the Article says "Kansas City Royals" for the Jays lineup, but it is definately not the Royals lineup.
  8. Wow man, they won! THEY fishing WON! HOLY spiff!!!! Thome and Konerko, 6-7, wow.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) Thome has done very well against Halladay in the few times he has faced him. Hopefully, he won't be rusty tonight. It will be a pretty big feat to get a win tonight, and could propel the White Sox into a hot streak. The 4 out of 6 so far on this trip is acceptable but not great IMO. Do I come off too harsh if I say 4 out of 6 isn't acceptable? I mean, if it werent the Orioles and Royals, I'd be all for it, but come on... especially in the heat of a huge four team wild card, kinda. I understand the loss to the Royals, only because of injuries to the heart (in two ways) of our lineup. 5 out of 6 would be acceptable, 6 out of 6 would be good. Sorry, but we need those. That said, I hope we get it DONE tonight. LETS GO SOX! Mackowiak in center I won't get to see "Goldie" Anderson.
  10. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) It's most likely a blocking move, and I think he'll be pulled back. I know he'll be pulled back.
  11. Very unlikely it was the Sox. If I had to guess, I'd say the Blue Jays? Someone in the AL East to keep him away from the Red Sox? Pure guesstimation on my part.
  12. Well, if you guys get it together in the next week, Im down. I leave for Purdue on the 12th, but anytime this week Im good. I LOVE baseball. Let me know.
  13. Oh my god, I just looked at August's schedule... and I threw up in my mouth thinking of how bad Freddy and Javy are gonna look. Oh my god, this could be it.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) Probably nothing. Certain guys don't seem to get much criticism from Ozzie. Pods and his lazy jogs to first, Freddy when he shows up teammates, etc. This is absolutely true. Freddy will get by scotch free because Ozzie and him are family, period. Again, I hope I am proven wrong, but I just don't see it happening.
  15. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 10:43 AM) Barry Zito, and a legitimate Bullpen Pitcher who can hold leads/keep us in games. Giving up 10+ hits a game Does NOT a Division Win. Sounds "off the wall", but its a rule im sticking by, our pitching is killing us Thankfully, we will not be in the runny for Barry Zito. He will get somekind of insane deal like 5 years/70 mil because of how "awesome and good" he was in 2002. Even though, in the last 4 years, hes been only slighly above average, with an ERA+ of about 1.15 or so. Plus, he would suck even harder in the Cell.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) YOU THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I the only one that uses that size?? I have a 17" LCD. Nope, I used that size on my desktop.
  17. Hawk and DJ talking like the game is over... is it?
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 08:07 AM) Love the Brian Anderson avatar. Ahha, there it is, lol.
  19. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Not trying to start an argument, but in what way has Konerko outperformed Crede this year? Paul has a bunch more walks, which leads to a higher OBP, but other than that the numbers are surprisingly similar. Sox stats Conveniently they are the top two on the page. Kong has more Stolen Bases!
  20. I'm gonna play some Halo 2, anyone wanna join me?
  21. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) off topic, but is the rain in KC gonna be the torrential downpour that hits us tomorrow I doubt it, unless the rain is moving like 5 MPH, which is doubtful.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) The next two weeks are put-up or shut-up time. I think we'll know a lot more about our 2006 future after these games. A pitching change now? Are you freaking kidding me Ozzie? :P :P
  23. Wait, will Low-Jac still make the donation even if the game is called and goes back to 7 1/2 innings? Ugh, maybe Im confused. Will it end at bottom of the 7th with 1 out? Or middle 7? I need to read the rulebook.
  24. Wait, why did Kane get his theme song put on two WWF theme CDs? Three and Five? Seems completely wasteful, considering it didn't even change at all.
