The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks
TitoMB345 replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2006 Season in Review
2 on, less than two out. Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah. Atleast twice today, and we didn't get any from except the 1st (with 0 outs). -

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) There is going to be a point in the season when the offense CANT score 6-7 runs a game to carry our pitching. Will they ever wake up and only allow 3-4 runs? I'm not asking for shut outs, just pitch a respectable game. I'm sick of the giving up 7 runs / game B.S. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Right in the middle of interleauge, Cinny and the Cards, I would have agreed with Hawk. What a blast those series was, it looked like there wasnt a team that could touch us. That seems like years ago. Yeah, I was in Lake Geneva at the time, for 3 days, watching the Cinci series telling myself "Man, what a life! My team is destroying everyone, and I'm enjoying myself in an awesome house in Lake Geneva!" Now, I'm sitting in my house back here, watching my team suck for the past week, and I don't have anything else to do on this fine Sunday afternoon. -

Is it just me, or is Hawk excessively annoying lately? I mean, usually, he's just a bit annoying and bearable, but I don't even want to listen to him lately. -

Game over, first series sweep since last year. I love how we have an amazing opprotunity to get Freddy some runs (even though we ALL know we would have needed atleast 10 for it to matter) and we fail. -

Take Freddy out now. His fastest pitch so far has been 88. Hes toast. -
In addition to his time with the Cuban national team, Contreras pitched for the Pinar del Río Vegueros of Cuba's Cuban National Series. In his last season in Cuba (2001-2002), he went 13-4 with a 1.76 ERA and 149 strikeouts[1]. Taken from Wikipedia, on Jose's last year with Cuba. Castro gave Contreras the nickname El Titan de Bronze (The Bronzed Titan) [1]. New nickname for Jose? LETS GO EL TITAN! # The start against the Yankees on July 14, 2006 that ended his consecutive win streak at 17 games produced a different piece of baseball history as well. With the help of the long All-Star break, Contreras started two consective regularly-scheduled White Sox games. The last time any pitcher accomplished was in 1976 by Wilbur Wood, also for the White Sox (Freddie Garcia achieved this with the Seattle Mariners in September, 2001, however his feat is given an "asterisk" because there were scheduled games in between that were cancelled immediately following the September 11 attacks). With 5-man rotations and the heavy emphasis on protecting expensive arms, it may be decades if ever before this feat is achieved again. Yay for Wikipedia! I love that site.

I think it has to be Garcia. He's lost the most, and he has some big game experience now. Someone will want him, someone will think they can fix him. I think we've spent too much on Vazquez to give up on him this early, even though he sucks right now. He has the skills, someone just has to get in his head and make him pitch like we know/think he can. But Garcia is probably getting to the point where he just is losing it. He's thrown 200+ innings in 7 of the last 8 seasons. Sure, he's only 30, but he's been losing the MPH each year it seems. I hope he can turn it around, because he is an absolute stud when hes rolling, but I'm just not sure.

WIDGER BLOWS!
-
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) In picking the players that I like, yes personal prejudice is what matters. I don't like Buehrle, I love the White Sox. I like Vazquez. Is that so wrong? And btw, I think all stats are worthless in baseball. ERA, ERA+, RBI, ect. It was beat like a dead horse last year, but wins is the only thing that matters. Baseball is a game where the slightest change in the path of a ball, the speed of the ball, the hand eye cordination of the batter, and so on can change everything. :P Ahaha, I love how ignorant some people can be. It makes me all fuzzy inside, knowing some people are just that stupid.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) I'm very happy that Ozzie has changed his opinion on Tracey. I am too. He did say he would bring him back if the time was right, and he kept his word. -

So I guess Fathom was wrong. That sucks. -
I hope he goes on to have an amazing career somewhere in the NL. I have been one of your biggest haters over the year. But not you as a person, you as a player. I never met you, but from what I gather, you are a kickass person. But you sucked on the field. Good luck. Glad it finally happened.
-
If Politte pitches again for this team, it will be clear to me that Kenny and/or Ozzie have lost their minds. This guy sucks, period. No more chances, he's done. GET HIM OFF THE TEAM!
-
I really hope the "Politte turning it around" thing was a joke. He's done. It's just too bad Kenny and/or Ozzie don't see it. Damn mop up work and the guy sucks big time.

Widger sucks.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Yeah, maybe KW can swing multiple deals for four new starters and three new relievers. That shouldn't be too hard. Nah, not four. Just one starter atleast. And one veteran arm for the bullpen. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Mark has sucked for 3 starts. Jose has been alright. Garland has been very good in his last 5 starts. Freddy and Javy are struggling. It hasn't been for two months, though. Jose has been horrid since coming off the DL. Don't even try to play that card. -
