QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 12, 2012 -> 01:47 AM) Also, did I miss all the League talk, or was there none? Some great lines last week! "Yeah, guess what he's gonna find when he unclogs it? His f***ing cat." And basically the entire wrestling scene. Rafi has been absolutely golden this year. I think this season has been poor in general. It seems like the writers are just trying to top each other with how many dick/gross-out jokes they can fit in. Reminds me of when the Office stopped being a sitcom about people in an office that happened to have amusing situations and became "look at these wacky people doing wacky things!"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) Hell, when that was written, I seriously doubt you could effectively conceal a legitimately damaging weapon. Flintlock pistol?

The Walking Dead game is awesome

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 6, 2012 -> 08:06 PM) How many fake punts do we see occur from a team's own 30 on 4th and 15. You have to think teams are going to look at it the same way. Surprise onside kicks are extremely rare themselves.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 3, 2012 -> 08:05 PM) Except he said "color" "You're about color on Lily's dress, JB. Hehehe."?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 29, 2012 -> 05:40 PM) Need to get up for a big game. The Bears need to extend their drives longer ...to eat up more time on on the clock
-
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) Unless you played 8 hours a day for 3 weeks solid and did nothing but missions, there's simply no way you completed 80+% of the missions. Perhaps regarding the primary missions (Dark Brotherhood, College of Mages, Thieves Guild, those sorts), but there will be side quests up the Yin Yang for 150 hours. I think I probably put 250+ hours onto Morrowind (on one file...I played through that game like 4 times) and I'd say maybe completed 80% of the missions at that point. Maybe so. I completed the mages/thieves/DB/companions sections plus most of the main story, and what seemed to me like a good chunk of side missions. I had the vast majority of the map explored.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 26, 2012 -> 10:06 PM) Give it a week, and you'll never pick it up again. I got about 3 good weeks out of it. But once you hit a certain point with the game, interest drops to nothing. I probably beat 80+% of total missions, but didn't actually finish the main storyline...

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) I'm pretty sure if the MVP were voted based entirely on sabermetrics, Frank Thomas would have won zero MVPs. I think he'd still get it in 94, but the 93 MVP would go to Griffey.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 19, 2012 -> 06:22 PM) Cabrera didn't win MVP because he won the Triple Crown, he won the Triple Crown because he had an all-time great season at the dish. By what metric did he have an all-time great season? By OPS, it was 398th best season of all time. By OPS+, it was the 449th best. By offensive WAR, it's 213th best. By total bases, it's 79th best. By Win Probability Added, it's 424th best.
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) I wasn't looking at the voting. I was looking at the MVP. Does that mean we get to include his .265 batting average in the playoffs, including going 3-13 (.230) in the World Series?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Except where your team finishes has almost always been a factor in the discussion. That doesn't mean it should be. Why should Cabrera be rewarded for playing in the weakest division in baseball?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 06:48 PM) I've worked at a couple firms where some people who worked directly for me (or on other teams who I worked with) that vame over on visas. Some were student visas, then had to get work in X amount of weeks to stay in the country. Others came over specifically for the job. Some were trying to get green cards, either via work and stay, or via marriage. For India and China, even after working H1B or other visa for a few years, even if they could get company sponsored or married for green cards, the list is YEARS long, as you said. Same. I had a couple software developer coworkers from China who were here on work visas. It took them 7+ years to get citizenship. At one point, the company didn't fill out one piece of visa paperwork correctly and one of the guys was nearly deported.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) No, she had her teeth, she was showing them when they showed her from the front Looked a little gummy to me, but I dunno. If she has teeth, then he's a complete moron.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Same. My only guess at that point was that she was de-toothed as well.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 03:04 PM) I liked The Walking Dead, but I have to say this: I like the actor that plays Merle, but he would have gotten his ass kicked by that bruiser in that fight. It's possible that the Govenor's comment about it being a show (no-teeth zombies) also meant that the fight itself was fake.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 03:29 AM) Wait a minute. The way he set it up, I think he was right -- it didn't matter when the Miss came. Only one of them has to miss, so it's a straight (1/9)*(1/9)*(1/9)*(8/9). Granted, it's been a while since my last math class, but I think he was right. Let's call the nine possibilities 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. The 1 is the hit, the rest are misses. He wants to know the odds that you'll get 3 hits and a miss. There are 32 combinations (out of the 6561 total) that fit that criteria: 1112, 1211, 1121, 2111 1113, 1311, 1131, 3111 1114, 1411, 1141, 4111 1115, 1511, 1151, 5111 1116, 1611, 1161, 6111 1117, 1711, 1171, 7111 1118, 1811, 1181, 8111 1119, 1911, 1191, 9111

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 12, 2012 -> 05:32 AM) Calling all math people. Wife and I were going over probability stuff tonight off a random conversation. If something has a 1 in 9 chance of happening...what are the odds that it (the 1 time of out of 9) occurs in 3 out of the 4 times you do it? I realize if it's "what are the odds this happens 3 times in a row" it's (1/9) x (1/9) x (1/9). Is it just (1/9) x (1/9) x (1/9) x (8/9)? That's only the answer if you're looking for how many times you'll get the Hit 3 times followed by a Miss (HHHM). But it could also go MHHH, HMHH, or HHMH, so the answer is 32/6561, rather than 8/6561 like you have.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 09:08 PM) Feeling pain is not a significant function of the brain/nervous system? That happens well before 20 weeks. The scientific consensus is around 22-24 weeks for pain. http://jama.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=201429
-
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Beating heart and active brain waves occur at nearly the same time, and both very early in pregnancy. Other than actually being born, any significant physical marker that someone might use to make such a moral judgment happens very, very early in the process, often before or very shortly after a woman even discovers she is pregnant. There is no significant brain function until around 20 weeks. I think it's easy to mark the time when the brain has legitimate capabilities for consciousness/feeling/thought/experience as a place to base moral judgments on.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 8, 2012 -> 06:57 PM) First off, they don't know what alcohol does, if anything. They think it causes harm with severe drinking but studies aren't conclusive on the issue. They're not conclusive on light drinking, but heavy drinking is known to lead to FAS.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 11:43 PM) EC votes are all proportional to the states' populations so they don't get more of a say. They're proportional to their representatives, not their populations. Small states get a boost due to the 2 free Senators.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) Ugh just watched Akin's concession speech. So anyone who didnt vote for him doesnt appreciate god, their family, and America. And hates the Constitution.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 7, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) The biggest problem with our election system is that less than 60% of the people vote. And yet i'm sure 99.9% have an opinion about it. That's sad. Isn't a big part of that the fact that the EC discourages voting in many areas? Not exactly a lot of motivation for liberals in Alabama and conservative Chicagoans.
