  1. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) That's exactly what somebody else told me a few days ago. I don't see how you separate the two things. Isn't the very definition of being a homosexual engaging in homosexual acts? Can you really consider yourself to be a homosexual if you only engage in heterosexual acts? I'd consider the definition to be related to attraction. A gay guy is still gay even if he's totally celibate.
  2. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) How is being something God made you a sin and how is one forgiven for it considering it's not something one can change? The stock answer would be that being homosexual is not a sin, but engaging in homosexual acts is.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) LOL, that's so much worse. It looks like a Looney Tune. It's a little cartoony, but at least the jaguar doesn't look apathetic about eating you like the old one.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 05:59 PM) I think this season has actually been hilarious - while I'd dropped it previously. I actually wish they'd stay around now that it's funny again. Andy is out on some boat I'd guess because Ed Helms is really busy in real life. They should kill Pam off, though, what a whiny b****. I hate this 'Brian' storyline. The idea that a crew would film a paper company made (some) sense in season 1, when it was all about the actual office. But gradually, it has become more and more absurd. Generally, you can just put it out of your mind. But now they're shoving that absurdity in our faces.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 24, 2013 -> 07:02 AM) If you know a jewelry smith, get a custom ring. This. If you design it or customize it, it shows more thought.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 15, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) I just got done reading that RFK Jr believes the Mafia put a hit on JFK, and that there were multiple shooters... What say you? Yes, multiple doctors shot JFK with vaccines, which caused his head to spontaneously explode. /RFK Jr loves making s*** up
  7. I'm going to owe at least $2,000. Thanks, North Carolina 7% state income tax.
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 12:15 AM) http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles...-the-world.aspx Not making a comment on the cancer drugs topic since I don't know anything about it, but you should avoid mercola.com. Joe Mercola is an anti-science quack and that site is filled with nonsense.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) My only complaint is that every other channel is a bulls*** shopping network. Southpark did a spoof on one of those that I didn't get at all until I stumbled upon the channel late one night. I don't understand how that stuff gets aired, let alone an entire network devoted to it. Dude, you can Show/Hide channels with the favorites list. Shopping channels, religious channels, awful music channels, PPV channels, goodbye.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:31 PM) As someone who does not know anything about this stuff, how much natural variance is there in these sorts of levels? Can (some) athletes see larger variances because of their workouts, diets, etc? Yes. Most regular dudes are around 1:1. Elite athletes often approach 4:1. In rare cases, some people may go over 4:1 naturally, but due to the rarity, that's usually the "something's suspicious" line where more testing gets done. If you're at like 10:1, you been doin somethin.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) I've never said that it is impossible to find time or eat healthier, probably for the majority of people and across the class spectrum. I said that what choices you can make and ultimately choose are influenced, pressured and constrained by outside forces to various extents. I can't buy what isn't offered for sale, I can't buy what I can't afford, and whatever I do choose to buy is going to be influenced by a whole host of external factors. No, you didn't say it was impossible, but you're acting like the choices are extremely limited. If you choose to get a 32oz coke instead of water, you can't blame the 32oz coke option. Eating healthy and inexpensively is a viable option for the vast majority of people. That's all I'm really saying.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) I actually do view my entire day that way. My day is apportioned by what I have to do. X hours sleeping, Y hours working, Z hours traveling to work, Q hours having fun. So if a friend invites you to go see a movie, you make a calculation in your head whether or not that particular movie will give you around $200 worth of enjoyment? QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) I work so that I can watch as many hours of tv, post on the internet or do whatever I want to with my time. I dont work so I can go home, pretend im on top chef, then pretend on im on kitchen nightmares, so I can save $5 a day. It just makes no economic sense It makes no economic sense for you.
  13. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) In ground beef especially, in my experience, the leaner you go, the more expensive you go. 85% lean is cheap, 92% is more, 96% is even more, and buffalo is like $7-8 a pound. At McDonalds, on the other hand, you can feed a family of 4 off the dollar menu for $8-$12. And I just proposed a chicken/potato/cauliflower meal for $7. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:33 PM) The biggest issue that I think people run into is that you get home after a long, tiring day of work and the last thing you want to do is cook. I routinely don't get home from work until 7 or later. After a 10 hour day, I can spend 30 minutes when I get home putting a meal together, or I can stop at Taco Bell on my way home. Personally, the wife and I combat that by trying to make 2-3 different meals on the weekend when we have time so that we are eating healthy leftovers all week, but it's much easier to not do that. Well, sure. After I get off work, cooking a nice meal, doing the dishes, and helping my son with his homework isn't exactly relaxing, but I do it. The better option requires more effort? That's true for almost everything in life.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:28 PM) forty minutes of time (plus cleanup?) might be a luxury for someone workings two jobs or long hours, whether it's just to get by or because they're trying to make partner at the firm. If you want to eat healthy and cheaply, you can find time. Spent some time on the weekend making a large amount of food to be saved and eaten during the week. You can't tell me the only alternative is a double quarter pounder and a 64 oz slurpee.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 08:11 PM) I think we are just doing different math. 40 minutes of time, or even 30 minutes of my time is worth over $50. That means for me to make a meal that takes 30 minutes costs $50 (time I could have been working instead of making food.) Thus there is no way it is ever cheaper for me to make my own food, as opposed to buying it on the way home (5 minutes). The only reason I make food is because it is healthier and I can control what I am being served. Now if you are just saying that the food (by itself no prep etc) costs cheaper at a store, that would probably be close, but it would depend on the way the argument was styled (if it was calorie per $, you still may get more bang for fast food.) But you cant just discount the prep time. I'm not discounting it; that's why I mentioned it. Do you really view every hour of your day in this manner? If you watch an hour of tv, do you see it as $100 lost? And it's cool for you if you have a job where you make $100/hour (and can apparently work unlimited hours if you choose to), but that's simply not the case for the vast, vast majority of people.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 07:48 PM) where are you getting chicken breasts for $2/pound? I want in. The crummy Food Lion down the street. I've seen it that low at the nice Harris Teeter as well when they have a special. Even the skinless, totally pre-cleaned tenderloins are only around $4/lb.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 10, 2013 -> 06:39 PM) That just isnt true. Ive done the math with making tacos. If you buy 1) lean ground beef, 2) flour tortilla and 3) cheese. The price is at minimum 2 dollars per serving, which is not break even with fast food as you also have to include opportunity costs, time, etc. Now when you buy food there is going to be some spoilage, where as if you go to Taco Bell, you dont lose anything to spoilage. Beef and cheese tacos aren't exactly healthy. 1 lb of chicken breast: $2 1 lb of potatoes: $1 1 head of cauliflower: $3 seasonings/other: $1 water: $squat Family of four fed a good, healthy meal for $7 plus maybe 40 minutes' effort.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2013 -> 11:12 PM) Simply the size of the files comparable to blue-ray. Seems like a ton of downloading/storing to me vs changing discs. Works fine on Steam
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 17, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) I saw The Hobbit in 3D HFR and I thought it looked amazing. The way the movie looked, *everything* had a kind of fantasy 'gloss' over it, including the real actors and sets, so even though there was a lot of CGI, it didn't feel fake next to the real things.
  20. Saw a notice on Reuters that Ryan Lanza is NOT the killer; his brother Adam was. Ryan Lanza is in police custody.
  21. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 14, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) Just to clarify, did you mean to make that past tense? Or does she currently work there? I used past tense because she was killed. She worked there at the time.
  22. One shooter being reported dead, a second in custody.
  23. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 12, 2012 -> 03:34 AM) This Amish Mafia show is a joke..............this Levi is a wannabe..............all these guys have records...............this show looks 100% fake to me No shock there. "Breaking Amish", on the same channel, was revealed as completely fake.
  24. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 12, 2012 -> 02:20 AM) I see where you're coming from, but the episode with Ralphie and the swimming lessons might have been the best episode of the series. He's been really solid this season. I like Rafi. You can have one ridiculous character. Heck, even Taco as a second one is fine since Rafi only shows up occassionally. But Kevin, Andre, and Ruxin have all moved into that territory too. Pete and Jenny are the only remotely normal ones left.
