QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 10, 2017 -> 03:00 AM) Today in liberal hypocrisy. Dems demanding Comey resign after losing the election (bigly) Today, dems upset that Trump fired Comey lol. Cant even make this stuff up anymore. It's almost as if they were upset for two different reasons in two completely different situations and you're being deliberately obtuse.

QUOTE (raBBit @ May 4, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) I don't understand. I thought you buy insurance or get it through your employer so in the case something went wrong you're covered. My cousins condo burnt down. I wonder if he can get home insurance now that it's rubble. - Health insurance is far more necessary than home insurance (you can rent). - Health insurance is far more expensive than home insurance. - Health insurance is used very often. Home insurance is invoked very rarely. - No one is born with a burnt down home. - If you have a home insurance lapse and something bad happens, you take a big hit, but you can recover. If you have a health insurance lapse and become a person with a pre-existing condition, you could be f***ed indefinitely because no one wants to insure you at all. - People dying due to lack of healthcare is a major ethical issue for a society. People not owning insured homes is not so much.

The flight attendant was in the right*, but handled it about as poorly as humanly possible. Telling the parents (who were being stubborn but not at all rude) that they're going to go to jail and lose their kids? I hope she's fired. *The infant was supposed to be in a parent's lap, while their other son had the third seat. The other son wasn't there, so Delta naturally treated it like a no-show and gave the seat to a new passenger. The reality is you're not simply buying a seat - you're buying a seat for a specific person. If he wanted the third seat to get switched from the missing son to his baby in a car seat, he should have arranged that.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 1, 2017 -> 02:14 PM) for the record, Andrew Jackson was a plantation-owning slaver who died 16 years before the Civil War started. Hey if the US had kept electing people who were pro-slavery, the South wouldn't have seceded. Trump = history genius

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 03:53 PM) Maybe, MAYBE Democrats should consider the notion that people don't totally agree with their platform/policies? Maybe? Of course there are people who don't agree with DNC policies. But that article was about people who are basically supporting Trump out of spite because they don't like the media/protestors/anyone pointing out Trump's racism.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 02:04 AM) Look at the stills from the video in the second link. There is no bottle. Again, that's the second punch, not the first. You can't tell me a picture of the first punch must be photoshopped because it doesn't match pictures of the second punch.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 01:05 AM) She was snapping pictures at the end of,the video. It is the same video the guy in the first link I gave said she had a bottle, but sh didn't. It was fake. At the end of the video, she's holding her face. I don't see any point where she's taking photos. You certainly haven't established that the picture is fake or that what appears to be a bottle in the video isn't one.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 12:43 AM) You can stop the video and see there is nothing in her right hand. I saw a bigger picture of her with the fake bottle and I have seen the video, it might be more clear on another site, this one had both. But the fact is no one mentioned her holding a bottle before when she was attacked, now alll of a sudden one emerges.p, but not in the video. She was snapping pictures. A few outlets have that picture, but it was doctored. Here's another link of photos of the punch. No bottle. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3343703/white...berkeley-rally/ There are two separate punches. The bottle is (allegedly) present during the first one, not the second, more infamous one. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 12:43 AM) She was snapping pictures. Huh? Even in the shortened form of the video that only includes the second punch, she's not taking pictures; she's looking to fight. Because she was fighting moments before that.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 11:31 PM) For all those thinking the bottle wasn't photoshopped, here's an article with the pictures showing it, and you can click below for th video and clearly see something is missing. WTF, NO BOTTLE. Hey rabbit explain this one to me. http://theralphretort.com/nathan-damigo-di...-punch-4017017/ Can you be more specific to where you think it's missing? It's not super clear from the video. The picture where she's being shoved towards the camera is from Reuters though. I wouldn't expect them to engage in photoshopping. http://s2.reutersmedia.net/resources/r/?m=...r=LYNXMPED3F003

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) So A Democrat has introduced a bill to amend presidential removal procedures. In short, he wants to have a panel made up of former presidents and VPs to decide. yeah, Obama and Biden deciding on whether Trump should serve as president. Very funny. http://thehill.com/homenews/house/329206-h...oval-procedures Take out Obama and Biden and the group of former Presidents/VPs would still probably vote to remove Trump. Bush 41 and Bush 43 both think he's trash.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:52 PM) God damn openly defending violent white supremacists who attacked a woman who hadn't attacked anyone. who hadn't attacked anyone. That's questionable. The woman was carrying (possibly for throwing?) a large glass bottle and she was clearly interested in being in the fray. This wasn't some innocent bystander. Looks to have been a lot of s***heads on both ends of this brawl.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 10:38 PM) Yeah that sounds amazing. Definitely something that was lacking in the last one. That's definitely a plus. Their community relations are awful though. I remember playing quite a bit of BF and there were major bugs and imbalances present, and the devs wouldn't give any feedback at all. Not even a "we're working on it". The contrast to Overwatch, where the devs are extremely active in the community and explain everything they do, is huge. The EA dudes just made it feel like the game was a giant cash grab.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 14, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) Then in your eyes he will have less time to screw stuff up, eh? win-win! I'd prefer he take time to do some reading so he wouldn't constantly be embarrassing himself, and our country, when he reveals that he doesn't have the first clue what's going on. Healthcare is complicated? China can't just magically fix North Korea? FISA warrants are a thing? Who knew?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) Is he really THAT well-known at SoxTalk? But seriously, with Kushner on the ascendancy, wouldn't he now be the first apology after the president for making the administration look so amateurish yet again? Kushner is 100% on board. Sheldon Adelson's is willing to jump ship and support someone else. You have to actively keep him happy.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 11, 2017 -> 07:28 PM) Challenging too. And, at least as I've noticed thus far, you don't lose progress upon dying. That was always my biggest fear with any game - play for 2 hours, die stupidly, and lose all your progress. Maybe I've just been saving better, but there seem to be actual worthwhile checkpoints. It quicksaves regularly and there are a lot of campfire save points. The quality of life in Horizon is amazing. - No stamina system for running and good quick travel system - Climbing/platformer elements are not frustrating - Inventory management totally reasonable - UI is great, easy to access everything, lots of shortcuts to necessary functions - Camera always stays in a good position, icons pop up if something is charging you from an angle you can't see

Horizon: Zero Dawn is fantastic. Right up there with Red Dead Redemption and The Last of Us for single-player console experiences.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) But as for the bolded, no. It's not exactly common, but there are all sorts of cases of mixed chromosomes. Sure, but intersex is distinct from transgender. I may be wrong, but I would imagine most transgender people do not have any chromosomal abnormality when it comes to their sex. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Far from an expert, but I think epigenetics plays a role in both sex and gender determination. That seems totally reasonable to me. How are you defining gender? QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) edit: it was this series from PBS 9 months that made you which is available on Netflix. The episode about the transgendered girl is episode 2. Thanks.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 07:57 PM) I could be wrong, but while there may be some who 'argue' that I don't think it's what's supported by any modern psychology or physiology. Granted my understanding of this comes from a NOVA episode on prenatal development, but I saw recently that the latest research believes that the development "triggers" for lack of a better work that establish our sex and those that establish our gender in our brain occur separately and several weeks apart. Oh I don't doubt prenatal development could be the primary cause at all, but that wouldn't preclude it from being in the realm of mental illness. I mean, a mental illness is basically a mental pattern that causes some kind of negative effect on the person who has it. If, as a result of how your brain is set up, your mental self-image of your gender is in contradiction to your physical sex, and this results in significant stress/anxiety/confusion/etc, that's mental illness, no? As to that episode (which I'll look for), wouldn't biological sex be established conception when your chromosomes are determined by which sperm fertilizes the egg? Also, can you elaborate on what the episode was defining as gender, and what the trigger was? Obviously they must not have be taking the position sometimes argued that gender is a cultural creation. Something more like a typically "masculine" vs "feminine" brain chemistry?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 05:35 PM) With all the discrimination that still exists in society today...try to imagine a son or daughter deliberately provoking confrontation and "being threatening to others," why would any sane/logical/rational person choose that difficult path? Isn't it commonly argued that transgender people ARE suffering from a form of mental illness? It's certainly not obvious to me (or the rest of the population with no clinical psychiatry/psychology background) that there can't be mental illness in play. Now, that's absolutely not to say that transgender people should be mistreated in any way, nor that accepting them for how they want to be accepted isn't a far superior option to trying to make them be something they don't want to be.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) In Sweden... the place Trump said immigration was a big problem and the left laughed at him. Tough week for the neolibs. He was mocked because he implied a terrorist attack happened the previous night in Sweden. This was right around the same time that Conway made up the Bowling Green Massacre and Spicer made up an attack in Atlanta.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 08:35 AM) The second chart is impossible to refute...we're not getting much more than minimal life expectancy increases (2 years over the span of the last 15, 2000-2014) compared to the rest of the industrialized world (we're now 2-5 years behind everyone else) while our costs are 33% higher than Switzerland and 50% higher than Norway. The difference in cost-effectiveness is even more striking when compared to Japan, Australia, France, the UK, Finland, Canada, Luxembourg, etc. How do we determine how much of it is due to healthcare systems and how much is due to citizenry not taking care of themselves (ie Americans being crazy obese)?

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 5, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Not sure I see the issue there. He's inferring that he can/would/will threaten to pull the Iran deal off the table if Iran doesn't deal with its militias aiding Assad? There's a more complete transcript here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office...ii-jordan-joint It's clear Trump knows nothing about Iran outside of "Obama made a bad deal with them".
