QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Realistically, for Chicagoans on the ground. . . What are the chances of getting either game in today? The weather charts are not promising. I live about an hour northwest of Chicago and we've had non-stop rain for the last 12 hours. And the forecast for the rest of the day says 90% chance of precipitation. There is a chance of it letting up a little this evening, but who knows what type of condition the field will be in. Funny thing is that this entire upcoming week looks beautiful... low 70's and sunny... starting on Monday of course.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) Will Hudson pitch? If so, I would feel pretty confident. I'm pretty sure it's Hudson for game 3.

Here's a link to the audio for the game tomorrow if anyone is interested in listening.

13 was unlucky for Great Falls. Orem got the leadoff man on followed by two quick outs. Then a routine groundball to SS Lee Fischer was booted, putting men on 1st and 2nd for Roberto Lopez. Lopez, the league's leading hitter, got a hit and drove in the winning run. Great Falls lost 3-2. Tomorrow night (Saturday) is the 3rd and deciding game... one game takes all for the league championship. Should be exciting.

Mike Grace hit a homerun in the top of the 11th inning. GF up 2-1 going into the bottom of the 11th. Lead off hitter got a duck snort to lead off. The second batter struck out. The runner on first stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on a bad throw from GF catcher. Ohhh... ****. The next guy up hit a double to tie the game again... and put the winning run on 2nd with one out. The next guy strikes out. And then with two outs, the next batter hits a drive to deep right again saved on a great catch by Estill. We move to the top of the 12th. Edit: And now to the 13th. BTW - Video highlights of this game will be available tomorrow on the site FutureAngels.com.

Going to extras. Very tense end to the 9th. Orem loaded the bases with 2 outs against GF's closer... bringing Roberto Lopez, the Pioneer League MVP who hit .400 this year to the plate. Lopez hit a shot to the warning track that Lyndon Estill snagged with a great catch... saving the game.
-
Arghh... Orem ties the game in the bottom of the 9th. The winning run on 2nd.
-
Top of the 9th... GF still up 1-0!!! Cross fingers... If they hang on they win the Championship tonight!!!!

I hope we get all of the games in as scheduled. Not sure I could stomach another "doubleheader of death" like Tuesday.

Game recap from milb.com Voyagers nearing top Pioneer prize 09/12/2008 12:24 AM ET By Alan Friedman / Special to MLB.com The Orem Owlz bested the Great Falls White Sox in last year's Pioneer League Championship Series. Great Falls, now known as the Voyagers, moved within a game of being declared this year's champs Thursday. Zach Larson homered and Dexter Carter struck out nine over five innings as the host Voyagers edged the Owlz, 4-3. Game 2 will be played Friday in Orem. Larson smacked a two-run homer to left field to cap a fourth-inning outburst in which the Voyagers did all of their scoring. "Larson has been an unsung hero for us all year," Great Falls manager Chris Cron said. "His homer gave us our four-run lead." Johny Celis hit a run-scoring double and Kent Gerst chipped in an RBI groundout during the rally. Carter (1-0) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks to pick up the win. Daniel Albritton gave up a run on two hits, striking out three and walking one over three frames, while Ronald Morales and Dan Remenowsky combined to retire the Owlz in a scoreless ninth. Remenowsky, who recorded the final two outs with the tying run on second, notched his second save. "Dexter Carter has been great all year," Cron said. "He kept the game in check for us. And then the bullpen came in and did a great job. Dan was outstanding." Carter was 6-1 with a 2.23 ERA in 15 appearances -- 12 starts -- this season. Beau Brooks cranked a solo homer in the seventh for Orem. Cron sees a role reversal from last year for both teams. "Last year we were the best team on paper and they were about .500 and they ended up beating us," he said. "This year, they're the better team on paper. I hope history repeats itself. But they're not going to roll over. They're an awesome organization, and we're going to have to earn it." Jayson Miller (1-1) surrendered four unearned runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one over seven innings for the loss.

Blue Jays @ White Sox 7:11 9/11 CSN+

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) Swisher is hitting .225ish with a .340 OBP. Basically this year he is Brian Anderson with a higher OBP and worse defense in the OF. True, Swish is sort of like Brian Anderson except.... - 70 points higher OBP... - in his worst career year. -
Voyagers take game one 4-3!!! Great pitching... especially DC who struck out 9 in his 5 innings of work.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) Sorry, he's the most unlikeable White Sox player during my watching years. A piece of s*** on and off the field. Oh come on. Jose Canseco... and second place is NOT even close. -
4-3 at the end of 7.

GF jumps out to a 4-0 lead in the 4th inning! Catcher Zack Larson hita two-run homer.... his first homerun of the year. Nice!!!
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) And wasnt Piazza undrafted? Practically speaking... He was a 62nd round pick. (1390th player overall in the 1988 draft).
-
QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) Pujols was like a 5th rounder... 13th round actually. 402nd player chosen. Sounds crazy now doesn't it? The Sox picked a first baseman in that draft too... Casey Rogowski... with the 399th pick... three players before Pujols.

I'm betting Carrasco is warmed up and stretched out in case they have to end this Broadway show early. Lance gave up a boatload of homeruns this year in AAA. I'm going to say a special prayer to the baseball gods that Maggs, Cabrera, and maybe a few of the other Tigers bangers get Sunday off.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 10:38 PM) Lance has shown he can win games when he starts. Both times he has started, he has pitched well. He's a better option than Richard, outside of that, we have nobody. Because he's beaten Kansas City twice... one of the worst offensive teams in baseball. Richard has had to pitch against teams that can actually hit. Big difference.

The Sox were 1-for-21 with runners in scoring position during Tuesday's doubleheader. Going to have to do a little better tonight.

Konerko knee injury not serious, may play Friday September 10, 2008 FROM SUN-TIMES SPORTS STAFF Paul Konerko's injury isn't as serious as it appeared Tuesday night as the White Sox first baseman's injury is being described as a slight sprain to his right knee. Konerko may be ready to play Friday.
