  1. It would have to take one hell of a haul to move CQ right now. I'm not saying that it's not possible. Especially with De Aza and Viciedo essentially ready to play in the major leagues. An OF rotation of Juan, DeAza, Viciedo, Rios, and Lillibridge really wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, especially if we replenish the farm by trading CQ. It would be a calculated payroll maneuver, but it wouldn't be a white flag.. seems like exactly what the Sox are doing right now.
  2. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) Did I see that correctly- Cleveland has 5 errors? Yes.. they've been awful.
  3. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:44 AM) I was at the home opener... best game I've ever been to. I've never loved Edwin Jackson more than that day. Overall, I'm happy with the time he spent here and I wish him well.
  4. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Cardinals, Rockies, Giants. Pretty much this. The White Sox consistently beat the teams who are "better" than them. The playoffs would test that consistency. Teams scrape and claw to get to the post season.. then teams scrape and claw to get to the World Series... then teams scrape and claw to win the World Series. This is how it works.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) I sure like Uribe I miss his Jazz Hands
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:01 PM) I'm sure you'll complain enough for all of us. OH Snap! you went there!
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) I also like the uniforms today! They're fantastic. Really some of the best throwback/tribute jerseys out there.
  8. Negro Leagues day today. Great uniforms: http://yfrog.com/kkjd2yj
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) Every year at the all-star break, by the time it's about over, I'm itching for some White Sox baseball......not this year. I hope the Sox go 4-8 the next 12, and get this s*** over with. It'll be much more fun if they go 8-4 or 9-3, but if I had to guess, i'd say that everyone in the central comes out of the gates and goes about 6-6.. so we have to continue this "will they, won't they" game.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Yes, he filled the role of garbage sacrificial lamb whenever we were getting blown out or needed an emergency start. Kenny clearly needed to be sure that they had his successor ready in Hector Santiago before letting Harrell go, and so it is done!
  11. FWIW.. Oney Guillen really liked him. I remember him tweeting all about him last time he pitched. [/adding fuel to the Ozzie v. Kenny drama.]
  12. I love coming here after a good afternoon loss. It's always so damn refreshing!
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) Watching Quentin this year, he sure doesn't seem like an All Star. Now Konerko, that's a freaking All Star Not today.
  14. Nice job by Dunn getting the run in.. somehow!
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) .500 or .525 is the maximum upside. Losing this one, three of four or all four to Minnie and a 3-7 start the second half and we are finally done by the end of July. .525 (85 wins) could win this division.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) Today was a classic one bad pitch that the player really really earned. Like a 12 pitch at bat earned a long tulo HR. That was an awesome at-bat on both sides. I wish it would have panned out in Peavy's favor, but that was a really amazing battle of a good pitcher and a good hitter.
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) Problem is I cant order hats offline.. they all fit differently, regardless if they are the same size, and I cant spend $30 on a hat that might be bent up or not fit right when I got it.. I have really good experience with caps from ECapcity and Mickey's Place showing up in really nice condition. I do agree about the fit though. Sometimes you've just gotta take a little risk if you want a unique cap though.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) Didn't know they're 7-1...that's a very underrated stat. I'm working on a research piece about pitchers who inspire victory. I'm really looking at guys who don't necessarily get a "W" but the team wins when they take the mound. Obviously, Jake Peavy is a focal point, especially this season. John Danks, on the other hand, is one of those guys who couldn't buy a win early in the season. Just seeing Danks and Peavy pitch on back to back days a few times, it was pretty clear who the team really rallied around. It's been an incredibly interesting stat to look at.
  19. Great win! Nice to see them pull one out late like that. *And now back to your regularly scheduled Soxtalk programming: Negativity; How To Turn A White Sox Winner Thread Into a Complaining Thread!*
  20. No major surprises in the Rockies lineup: #Rockies vs. CWS, 6/30: Gonzalez8, Herrera4, Helton3, Tulowitzki6, Smith9, Wigginton5, Blackmon7, Pagnozzi2, Cook1. Via @Rockies
  21. I'm giving Coors field another shot today.. hopefully a better game for the Sox than my visit the other night, and hopefully a better ballpark experience than the mess I experienced on Tuesday.
