Congrats and thanks to everyone who keeps this place going. Tough to believe I've been roaming around this site for almost 7 years now.. And probably 2 years of lurking before that.

Every thread comes full circle.. Some faster than others.. Like this one.

I have been watching the White Sox since 1991 (when I was 5 years old), and to be honest, Hawk is really what drew me in to those TV broadcasts, I remember running around my parents house yelling "YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD, YESSS!" in my sox shirt and hat every time the Sox hit a home run. His "homer" style is merely one fashion of calling a game for the team that employs him. Hawk could not be a good announcer for another team (save for maybe the Red Sox). Hawk is an entertainer, and a damn good one.

I'm in a Toledo hotel room right now getting ready to swoop up to Detroit to see this game first hand! I'm 3-0 in attendance this year.. Here's hoping to keep the streak alive!

I don't know what this dude did or allegedly did in the past, but I know he's been a pretty good pitcher and the White Sox have lost a bunch of games that they were leading late. A baseball team losing a bunch of games that they're leading late typically means that said baseball team requires help in the bullpen. The White Sox just got help in the bullpen. I'm happy that the White Sox may potentially win more games this season now.

If he HAD the ball.. It would have been the right call. He recognized that he didn't have the ball, and reversed his call immediately. You have to imagine that the umpire was caught as far off guard as the rest of the stadium. Really a remarkable play, either way.
