  1. Totally missed this draft, but I don't hate my team.. My greatest fantasy successes have come from auto drafted teams.. I need a stud SP though..
  2. Watching the Tigers launch off of Cliff Lee... They're going to be a force to be reckoned with..
  3. The White Sox season ticket communication was pretty clear that the price of parking would be increasing as of January 1, 2012 due to city tax increases. I was offered my 2011 rate if I renewed my tickets/parking before that date. I didn't renew, but they were pretty communicative about it. I work in Oak Park now, as opposed to Bolingbrook, so I plan on using public transportation instead of driving in, which I look forward to.
  4. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 01:52 AM) Folks, that isn't on JR or the Sox- that reflects the changes to the City budget. The City of Chicago has implemented a congestion fee of an additional fee of $2 on weekdays this year. And if you want to say that the parking is a private fund, the recreation tax has also increased this year so I feel it's a fair business practice for the stadium to mirror the increased cost of the city parking to offset the increased tax they are charged. This is exactly correct. Had parking prices stayed the same, it essentially would have been a reduction in price.
  5. Looks like he's in the best shape of his life.... /green
  6. I'm in. Gotta see if I can improve on last year's rough season.
  7. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) I vote for "Bring Your Fat Kids to the Park" day. Here's why: every time there's a dance-off between innings, the fat guy/kid wins. Always. The only time the outcome is ever in question is when they can't find a fat kid, and then the whole thing is up for grabs. The best you can guess in that scenario is that the first d-bag to whip out "the worm" (and you know how to do that how again, loser?) will probably win. So, how to build suspense? You make all the kids in the dance-off fat kids. Not such a slam-dunk NOW, is it, Sox fans, so used to impressing your non-Sox fan friends who don't know any better by predicting "the fat kid will win! Mark my words!" Oh, and none of them are allowed to do "the worm", or else they get tazed. So right there it's like Dancing with the Stars meets Biggest Loser crossed with The Hunger Games. Me likey. Now, f*** me if that isn't the definition of entertainment. Here's my prediction: it will be ten times more entertaining than what's going to be on the field all season... Please, please, please let this dream come true.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 23, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) I have a couple of different "levels" of passwords. If someone hacks my forums accounts password, I don't really give a s***. That's different from my email password, which is different from my banking passwords and different from my work-related passwords. This is exactly what I do too.. I have different categories, then different levels.. my categories are: Bulls*** (forums, logins, etc), E-mail, Work related and Financial. I use a 4-6 digit number and a word in each category, then based on security, I'll intertwine the number into the word. For financial passwords, I change the word and number used in each.
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) I think Las Vegas and Nashville are the two most ideal sites. Nashville is probably the best, as there isn't much baseball near there. As far as I can tell, the Nashville Sounds have a pretty good thing going. If a AAA team, who's MLB affiliate isn't even that geographically close can find sustained success in a market, I'd imagine an MLB team (maybe even promoting the Sounds to the MLB) would be pretty fruitful. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Kinda throw San Jose in there? I think that they are trying to get the A's to move from Oakland to San Jose. However, if the A's stay in Oakland, could San Jose get a team? Probably not, but San Jose is actually a pretty big city and probably has plans in place and there are a lot of technical companies in the area that could be good sponsors. However, SF is fairly close and they wouldn't like that idea. San Jose would have a better chance of getting a team like the A's moving than a new team but I thought that I would throw them into the mix. ' The Giants hold territorial rights over Santa Clara County.. If anyone is going there, it's the A's, which wouldn't be am expansion.. Unless the MLB pulls an NFL (Cleveland Browns) and the A's go elsewhere before the league puts a team in San Jose as part of an expansion. Here's a decent article on the subject
  10. I have the weekday package and my price is about 12% cheaper than last year. I assume parking is included(because I had it last year) and that price isn't changing, so that would mean that my seats went down somewhere between 18 and 20%. Does anyone know if they'd automatically include parking in the invoice if it was purchased the year prior?
  11. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) I know nothing about this man, outside of what he did on the baseball field as a player. What could I have possibly found out about him in the last 24 hours to change that? On paper, it's one of the worst hires in White Sox history. On paper, signing Adam Dunn was good for the 2011 season. Paper means nothing. I don't suffer from the fear of the unknown like many around here do. Just because Martinez has coached next to Maddon for so long, or because Alomar didn't leave the field when he was done playing doesn't make either a better candidate to manage an MLB team; it hardly even makes them more experienced. Robin is a blank slate, ready to create his image and his philosophy as a manager. Maybe he'll be great, maybe he'll be a flop. Just because we don't know what type of manager or "baseball man" he is, doesn't mean this is a bad hire. It's not safe; that's all we know.
  12. Dear Adam- Please work hard this off season and come up with some out of the box ways to improve your skills. Thanks.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) How long do you think it will take before Ozzie/Oney start the public feud? Oney has claimed he will NOW be deleting his twitter account.. So it'll be up to Ozzie or Cowley.
  14. I'd like to throw my name in the hat for the "special advisor to some long drawn out title that nobody knows or understands." Something like Robin Ventura's role with the team. Ya know, a job that I only have to attend 2-3 times a week, if that. Eh?
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 01:52 AM) Then the question is: WHY THE f*** DOES HE PLAY HIM THEN? Because this season is a wash. It's time for extended spring training. Play the young guys and the guys who need to work themselves out of a funk. It's over. The Tigers are closer to the Yankees than they are to the White Sox.
  16. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 08:55 AM) I know exactly what you mean. I was thinking something similar. mythical is the wrong word, but I totally get your point. As humans, we tend to raise certain year milestones over those of others. A 25th wedding anniversary is more important that 24 or 26. The "importance" of 10 years is nothing more than a nice round number. Round numbers build perspective. When someone mentioned that this year is the 10 year anniversary, I thought, "damn, it's been a decade? It still feels so recent." We shouldn't remember any differently, but we do, because of that perspective.
  17. If AJP throws out a base stealer at 2nd and Juan throws out a tagging runner at home and nobody sees it, did it really happen?
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:37 PM) You must not watch a lot of Alex Rios. :lolhitting
  19. De Aza got benched for hitting a home run last night.
  20. I have one week to decide whether I'll be plunking down the money for my playoff invoice.. I'd appreciate it if the Sox made their case one way or another tonight while I'm in attendance.
  21. All of the Tigers fans I run into seem to remember these two years pretty clearly. They're not counting any chickens before their eggs have hatched, which is reasonable. http://baseball.about.com/od/majorleaguehi...ntcollapses.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Detroit_Tigers_season
