  1. Anyone know what the Phillies have been asking for him? Edit: They're looking for starting pitching, someone to help their rotation this year.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Hmph, I've gotten the impression that he hasn't been that good in 2010 but his numbers don't agree with that at all. He's been very inconsistent, kind of like the Phillies as a whole.
  3. The Phillies are shopping him. He's a good defender, but he wouldn't be much of an upgrade offensively, especially for a rental.
  4. And then Raburn makes one hell of an over-the-shoulder catch to take away extra bases and redeem himself. Web gem for sure.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) How did Jhonny hit a 3 run inside-the-park homer? Hit a long flyball to center, Raburn (CF) tried to leap and catch it against the wall, missed, ball bounced off the wall back into center-field as Raburn busted open the bullpen door and fell down.

  7. Enough with the losing! Let's do that winning thing we've done a few times recently!
  8. Rick Morrissey's column says to those of us who pay attention to the White Sox, there won't be any surprises. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/morrissey/2...issey18.article
  9. Part of me doesn't want to watch.. but I'm sure I'll be drawn in.
  10. A split tomorrow leaves me happy with this series. Now.. to figure out how to get the yardwork done before the game..
  11. Multiple beat-writer twitters reporting some rough weather in the area.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 03:34 PM) Let's be thankful that it appears Sizemore and Cabrera (the latter to a lesser extent) will never be the same. I would want no part of a Sizemore/Cabrera/Choo/Santana/Laporta offensive core for the foreseeable future. I think Cabrera will come back to form, but their starting pitching is too weak to be worried about them as a whole, even if those guys come back to life.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) Sucks for them that Sizemore has completely fizzled out. LaPorta seems to be figuring it out, as he's hitting a lot of rockets these days. LaPorta is a good piece. Sizemore is made of glass and Hafner isn't the force he used to be. If those two guys were still performing like everyone thought they would, things would look a lot different for that organization.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) I like Nix, but he has no trade value. There's still organizations who would value him and give him a shot to play more often than the Sox did. I'm not saying he'd be a prime piece to a trade, but he'd be a nice additional piece to a package.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) He's going to be an absolute star. Leading all catchers in baseball in every offensive stat since June 1st. He's full of raw talent. They threw him into the 3 hole in their lineup as soon as they called him up and he didn't skip a beat. The Indians have a nice core of young players, if they put it together before they all demand contracts, they'll be a force to be reckoned with in the AL Central.
  16. Game over. Maybe the Tigers will lose twice today!
  17. Strike out but Inge stole 2nd. Santana's got a good arm for a young catcher. They converted him from a 3b/OF to behind the plate. Surprised to see him handle it as well as he has.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Wood pitched really well the last few times I watched him. I never felt like he was really locked in, he had a stretch where he got it done, but I never got the sense that he was in control of the game.
  19. I'm extremely happy to see someone other than Kerry Wood taking the ball in the 9th for the Indians. The DL trip for Wood is a blessing for the Indians.
  20. Watching the Indians the past couple of weeks makes me wish we didn't DFA Nix. He might have been a nice supplemental piece to a trade towards the deadline.
  21. The Braves made this move to put them over the hump for this year. The NL is really up in the air, especially once the playoffs start. Escobar missed time due to some sort of injury early in the year (I can't remember exactly what, but ironically I dropped Yunel for Alex in my money fantasy league, and I've kept Alex since) when he came back, he never really produced offensively and he's been benched multiple times for pissing off Bobby Cox one way or another. The Braves see an opportunity to win this year and they're going for it. It's a pretty lateral move defensively, but if Gonzalez even comes close to how he's been producing offensively, it's a huge upgrade to the lineup. Everything I've read suggests that Gonzalez will regress, but he's been incredibly consistent since day 1 of the season, maybe it's his career year and the Braves will capitalize on it.

  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) I'm not going to root for them. They're going to be the better team in the long run than the Tigers. But if they win, good, cause we'll be in first. I'd rather have long term gratification than short term though. I dont know if I buy that the Twins are the team to beat. Their pitching is absolutely tanking lately. It'll be nice to actually get into first place. I think it'll be good for the team, keeping confidence up while on the break.
  24. Twins up 5-2.. runners on 2nd and 3rd, no outs.
