    2012 TV Thread

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 27, 2012 -> 11:41 PM) Glad you enjoyed it. I've just started DVR'ing Grimm. The 1st episode I saw was interesting. I'm trying to get into it mid show so someone can tell me if that is impossible to do. We'll know in a few weeks if Fringe gets extended for a final 5th season. I really hope it does. One of the most entertaining and well written shows on TV (especially if you like Sci-Fi). They do a good job keeping the show intelligent. The show, much like another one of my personal favorites, Jericho, has one of the strongest core followings around though. Also, one of the most expensive shows to produce, which is the biggest problem. I'm a huge Fringe fan, but I'm still not so sure that it gets another season, based on production costs alone.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 26, 2012 -> 12:54 PM) Basketball powerhouse South Carolina steals Frank Martin, while Illinois steals John f***ing Groce. LOL. You have to wonder, if this shakes down the way it seemingly is, what the HELL Illinois' A.D. is/was doing...
  3. Sounds like we got our guy at South Carolina, I'll be interested to see which way Illinois goes now...
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 24, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) Why in the world would you want to go from K-State to South Carolina? Lots of it. And the fact that it gets him closer to his stomping grounds in Miami.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) Looks like the Frank Martin train might be headed to South Carolina.... Thats what we're hoping, at least. We'll see if we're just being played for a KSU raise, or what, soon enough.

I thought this was fitting for The Walking Dead:
  7. Our strategy of making Pujols and Kendrick exhaust themselves by crushing the ball, worked for a win!
  8. It appears that, when it comes to throwing balls vs. strikes, Nestor Molina is an equal opportunity pitcher.
  9. Nestor Molina, trying to ruin one of the few times we've had a lead this ST.
  10. The Gregg Marshall Red Phone is ringing, alas we finally got rid of our head b-ball coach, George McFly
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 02:46 PM) They need to release a second album. Same with QotSA, for that matter. QOTSA has one coming this year, but we may be waiting until late 2013 for another TCV album. I know they were waiting on Homme to tour yet again with QOTSA, AND for JPJ to finish writing some rock Opera he is working on.
  12. Been back on that "Them Crooked Vultures" for a while now. That album has all levels of awesome not yet reported in recent music.
  13. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) I first heard of Dawes from this thread a few years back, and I'm grateful to whoever it was that posted about them. I'm in love with their second album, and the track "If I Needed Someone" is terrific. I was about to revolt until I went and saw the name of the song is "If I Wanted Someone". Someone covering a Beatles song makes me angryface, but thats not the case here.

    Pearl Jam

Novoselic actually played the accordion on "I Should Have Known" as well.

    Pearl Jam

QUOTE (farmteam @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 12:29 AM) I tried to get into the Melvins once, and couldn't do. They're the kind of band I'd be willing to give a second try to, though. And as for Wasting Light, I think White Limo is far away the most QotSA-like track. You might like "I Should Have Known" if only because it's about Cobain; I'm also a fan of "Dear Rosemary" because Bob Mould plays guitar and sings backing vocals on it. On a different note, have you heard any Howler? Local Minneapolis band I've grown fond of. Sort of like a garage surf rock. Pretty young too, I think the singer/guitarist/songwriter is only 19. Not mentioning Arlandria, as pretty much the song with the most awesome around, makes me sad.

Hmm, for me its: 1a - Alice in Chains 1b - Pearl Jam 2 - Soundgarden 3 - Nirvana Thank god Dave Grohl came out of Nirvana, else honestly, I coulda survived without them. Soundgarden, man if people base their stuff off of Black Hole Sun, you REALLY need to give other stuff like Slaves and Bulldozers/Four Walled World/All Night Thing a chance Layne was gone FAR too soon, I still can sit and listen to AIC for hours.

I still rock out to every PJ album there has been, with the exception of one political abomination (Riot Act). IMO, Yield was still possibly my favorite offering of them (its too easy for people to say 'The best was Vs or Ten') Binaural was fantastic, one a lot of folks didn't like, and IMO Backspacer has been very solid.

Finished "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline. It was pretty interesting, I don't think it held my attention as much as 11/22/63, but nonetheless, it was a solid read if you're an 80's pop culture and gaming geek junkie. Up Next: "Forbidden" by Ted Dekker and Tosca Lee. Not sure of much about it, other than it was suggested to me by B&N after buying 11/22/63. That, and it was only $2.99.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 10, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) I've been reading a lot more since I bought my Nook Tablet. Mainly, because it's super easy to download books for free for Kindle and Nook. Ready Player One, by Ernest Cline, was an absolute blast to read. Anyone who enjoyed Ender's Game would absolutely adore that book. I just started the new Stephen King last night and am geeking out over it. The first 100 pages flew by and I cannot wait to finish that quickly. It is rather scary how alike some SoxTalk members are. I read 11/22/63, then looked for similar to it. Barnes and Noble recommended 'Ready Player One'. I am about 180 pages into it right now, and the sheer amount of 80's Pop Culture references are worth the read to me, alone. I'm enjoying it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) Please let me know what you think. I have been going back and forth on buying it. I bought 11/22/63 as my first book on the Christmas gift Nook Tablet. It was a long read, and an enjoyable one. The premise of anything involving history + time travel immediately appeals to me. I read it in probably 3 days time, finding it hard to ever put down. I haven't read any King stuff since Regulators/Desperation, so it was nice to get back into his stuff with a solid book.
  21. Alshon won't run a 4.4 or 4.5 at the combine, I can bet whatever on that. But, he may still be around at 15-20th I think.
  22. I love how Bo Pellini, a tremendous douchenozzle btw, thinks his team was the 'better' team today, despite being held scoreless for the last 47.5 minutes.
  23. Representing my home state so well! And WYFF is our local NBC channel. We've got some smart folks down here.
  24. South Carolina's schedule, roughly... East Carolina Georgia UAB Wofford at Kentucky at Vanderbilt at LSU Missouri Arkansas Tennessee at Florida at Clemson Doable, but at LSU is probably going to be a suckfest.
  25. Just sayin, 3 years of absolute domination of Clemson makes my weekend all around fantastic. 10-2 season, with a 5th string RB, backup QB, backup LT....who said Spurrier lost his touch?
