I'm thinking NO WAY we make Marte a closer...I love him as the nasty lefty that can take us to the closer, whoever that may be...and he can close when necessary, but not reguarly. If we get Gordon to stay next year, with Gordon, Porzio/Wunsch(one of them), and a righted Koch...I love our bullpen.,..we just need that long reliever...cause i'm about tired of Glover...

This is something I probably wouldn't have said with the team playing the way they were in May, but I'm all for keeping Joe....he makes some REAL solid plays over at 3rd, and theres no doubt that when he quickens up his swing, he will be dangerous. I like having a cornerstone third baseman that can be here for a while, a la Robin V. Now, if we can just find us a shortstop age 25 or younger, then I'd love our infield.

Yeah....dasox....I'm gonna have to ask you to go ahead and come in on Saturday.....yeah, you need to go ahead and come in on Sunday as well.....we lost a couple guys and we need to sorta play catchup...thanks alot

I completely agree...someone, preferably Coop need to get with Billy, talk and figure out what the deal is. He was hitting 95 tonight...good for most pitchers, but not for Koch. If Coop can get the guy righted, and I think he can, then Marte, Koch and Gordon are DEADLY in the bullpen.

Yeah, mike12345...if ya havent noticed...most Sox fans are quick to give up on ANYONE that KW gets, cause if he makes a trade, in most of their minds the acquisition automatically sucks. You all say he is awful, and it was a bad trade. BULLs***....look at the past numbers,....Koch was the prototypical closer, and that what most people pissed and moaned about last year when Foulke was struggling. Sorry, MLB players go through bad times, ask Paul Konerko, ask Joe Crede, ask Miguel Olivo...it f***ing happens, get over it. You guys expect us to have All-Star caliber players at every f***ing position on the 25 man roster....it can't happen, cause guys struggle, and Koch is struggling mightily. No one seems to mind the fact that our ACE gave up 5 runs in 7 innings, but I'll be damned if the 1 run Koch gives up is reason for everyone to whine. Get a grip. He's here, he will be next year, and he will be the closer again next year....when he is back on, feel free to jump back on the Koch bandwagon, I'll be waiting for ya.
-
28 games he has pitched in, he gave up 0 runs. 16 games he has given up 1 or more.
-
And Marte has to finish what GOrdon can't...but all in all, its still a Sox win.
-
This game is taking a weird turn....Reichert just imploded there...
-
This loss, if it is a loss, goes on the offense in the first 3 innings when Halladay was on the ropes, and NO ONE could get a real hit. 2 would-be double play balls that were misplayed are NOT the way to score runs productively!
-
Because Rick White and Tom Gordon can pitch in EVERY single damn game...jesus..thats a arm injury waiting to happen.
-
7 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 7 K...he had it till that 1st pitch to Wells.
-
Hawk: One thing about Sandy, he'll get down and dirty for ya at the plate. DJ: He ain't a scared!

This whole organization low-balled Foulke while he was here, but I do think that if they had decided this was gonna be the year to make a run at it, we shoulda kept him for the last year of his contract, then let him walk. At that point we go get Koch if he is healthy, or whoever else KW wanted. But you MUST put this failure all on KW, not Koch...he is a fighter, and I still think he will be effective again.

Like I've said before, JR doesn't pay anyone $6 mil to be a mop up pitcher. Koch will hopefully figure out the problem, Coop will discover if its something they can "fix" or not, and he will be back doing his job. Gordon is an arm injury waiting to happen, but yes, until that happens or he falters, he should be closing. That should give time to figure out what went wrong with Koch's arm.
-
I said that when Gordon falters, and he will, that Koch should be given his job back.
-
I'll have confidence in him, cause I know that if all is right with his arm(which is another issue completely), he can get the job done. I always find it interesting how so many people could b**** about Foulke the way he started 2002, then love him when he is traded away from the team.
-
I for one am all for letting the team play the way it is. Last time we went and got 2 players, we were riding an emotional high, then we got new additions, and tanked the next week. We have the talent now, question is can JM put them where they need to be.

Buehrle's count is 9, where he gave up 4 or more runs in a game that was lost by the Sox. I'm not saying anything bad about Buehrle, but I think that when Gordon falters, and he will, Koch should be given his job back. Foulke struggled early last year, JM took the job from him, and FOulke was the best bullpen pitcher in the second half last year. Do we ever learn from our mistakes?
-
The difference acutally is that Buehrle got the opportunity to straighten it out, Koch apparently may not. I'm sorry, but starting 2-10, and having blown 4 saves out of the first 15 is NO WHERE CLOSE in terms of a letdown.
-
Being the teams Ace, and starting the season 2-10 is awful, but Buehrle turned it around...who's to say Koch won't either?
-
Yes, 11 out of 15 save opps is AWFUL!!!
-
I'm left speechless after that....that was a joke right, abozichu?
-
Nice wsc....where is that, a videogame store? All you others, you make it sound like the guy is the 2nd coming of Jamie Navarro. His numbers are NOT THAT bad. Yeah, he has struggled, but come on!
-
Ah, yes...the National Work-release program, also known as the NBA....

Seems to me like we may need to start pushing a few of the guys from Birmingham up to AAA. There are quite a few guys there that we think highly of that are in that 24-25 age range, where they need to be making the moves necessary to get them MLB ready. Pacheco is 24, Dunn is 25, Meaux is 24.
