  1. This is probably true. Always be the first to capitalize on a gray area, because it will get fixed. The fact that there is no current limit on the amount of money clubs are allowed to defer, well...
  2. Technically, he IS taking less money, because that 680 million will have less value when it gets collected, and with zero interest to boot.
  3. I'm also not crying "Man I can't afford the $50k a year landscaper that my coworker with the $8 million dollar home has." ....and then all the while, stuffing hundreds of thousands of dollars into my own savings.
  4. Are the Rays not capable of doing the exact same thing? Oh, they don't have the same kind of money? Well, that means its no different than any other FA signing. The haves will always do, the have nots will always complain about the haves, and the White Sox/Twins/Pirates/etc will always cry 'woe is me, we can't compete'. Meanwhile, the White Sox organization is valued at 2.05 BILLION dollars. Woe is us, indeed.
  5. For every organization like the Dodgers who find ways to work around the LT, there are organizations like the White Sox, who do almost everything possible to avoid doing the things needed to be competitive. I'll have a hard time ever feeling bad for organizations like the Sox, Pirates, Twins, etc.
  6. Agreed. Good organizations find creative ways to make big things happen, poor organizations cry poor and sit on the sidelines.
  7. I'm not really a Kelenic fan, he's still young and all, but 1000 ABs so far in the bigs haven't shown whatever folks are hoping to see.
  8. Man, crazy how Kelenic has struggled in 3 different shots so far.
  9. He improved his K rate, which was perfectly fine already in 2023, from 26% in 2022 to just under 21%. I'd take that from most of the guys on our current roster. Not sure I agree with the K rate discussion. As for walks, he is around 10%.
  10. You have to aim for Kjerstad if you're talking to Baltimore. He fills an immediate need.
  11. The Braves are not the answer to this trade attempt.
  12. Bring on the youth! Trade, trade, trade.
  13. I'm sure you have no idea, that he is a local guy!
  14. Yeah, 2021-2023 stat lines read like a sequel to the movie Terrifier....what a debacle. I DO wish we'd at least give our guys a shot at taking the job, in the Spring.

And probably will be, at some point in 2024, unfortunately.

Soroka isn't even going to cost what Bummer did, he will be under 6 mil. And no chance in hell he isn't in on the roster, as a SP at a salary between 4 and 6 mil.

ANYONE not named Luis Robert, should be actively made available. Load up on 'cusp of the bigs' guys, and see what shakes out.

Well, you can forget that Cal Quantrill talk now, the Rockies got him. That may be....interesting to watch at Coors.

Washed is crazy...he struggled in his 2023 return to Atlanta, but still did better than basically any pitching prospect we have in AAA, while down in Richmond. One bad 2023 campaign (32 innings mind you), doesn't erase what he accomplished in his only full season in the bigs. Yes, it was before back to back Achilles injuries, I get it. But no way I'd write Soroka off, at 25.

To be fair, there is no one not named Luis Robert who should be salvaged on this roster, anyways. No point in paying for FA gambles, when this team is nowhere close to being competitive. I like moves like this.

There is no money savings…Bummer was at 5.5 in 2024 and minimum 2.5 to buyout….so 8 mil. Soroka and Lopez alone, are at that figure for 2024. That being said, I’d rather have any of the 5 dudes they just got, over the lack of enjoyment gained by watching Aaron Bummer pitch.

Feels lIke we just completely bent Atlanta over on that. Holy cow.

The flyer on Soroka is worth it, along with Braden Shumake
  24. He played 2B 5-6 years ago, and our organization DOES like to go get guys 5-6 years after they SHOULD have tried .....
