GT: Toronto Blue Jays @ Chicago White Sox
As down as people have been on Beckham offensively and as highly regarded offensively Ramirez is, its amazing Ramirez' lifetime OPS is only .024 higher.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) Yep, the experiment has to end. It's as bad, if not worse, as the Mackowiak in CF experiment. If they want to keep him in Escobar's role and have him play there once in a while, that would be OK. Everyday, its just sad.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Not knowing the outs and not catching a line drive hit right at you cannot be excused just due to position He's having all kinds of problems reacting in time to anything hit pretty well.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 7, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) I don't blame hudson. He isn't a 3B. That's true, he's playing out of position. The Sox with 1 HR out of the left side of their infield so far this season. Ridiculously bad.

Ozzie Martinez outrighted off of 40 man
Its for Jordan Danks, although they really didn't need the space. Danks is coming up for Fukudome I believe.

Anyone know why the Sox outrighted Ozzie Martinez tonight to get the 40 man down to 37? He obviously can't hit, but the timing seems curious. I guess Johnson probably is coming up for Fukudome.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) You hear what Mr. Funny Guy Ryan Dempster said today about being traded to the Sox? When asked by Waddle and Silvy about being traded to a team 10 miles south, he said "I didn't know there was a team there". He's 2-5 with a 5.03 ERA lifetime against the Sox. He hasn't fared too well against the AL.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) Guys, the rumors last week were that more than a 3rd baseman, the Sox were probably going to be looking for an experienced bullpen guy to help out. I disagree with this, as I think 3rd base is a much bigger concern for this team. However, if they stay in contention, we'll probably see a few new players added to the roster. I did read that bullpen rumor, but I think they need a starting pitcher more than a bullpen guy. Humber hasn't won a game in USCF in almost a year, and his ERA is around 6.00. Maybe they are thinking Quintana.

You're not going to win if you don't score.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) The Sox just don't need 3 lefties in the pen. All season in games like this, where the Sox are trying to just stay in a game, we have to trot Santiago and Ohman out there for full innings because we can't waste or core bullpen guys in catchup games...and game in game out 2 run deficits turn into 5 and 6 run deficits and we can't even hope for a comeback. Just get rid of one of them and bring up Bruney or Axelrod. They would have a better chance at holding the opposition than Santiago or Ohman. I think they do. Once Robin starts heading out to the mound, he seems to wear out a path.

How many failed relievers became good starters? It happens the other way frequently. I don't know of anyone. I think Santiago could become pretty decent, but chances are 4 years from now we won't even remember him.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Well, whatever he threw for the homer, that most assuredly wasn't good. Might as well let him go back down to start in the minors and give Quintana his spot for now. Assuming Humber's not banished from the rotation soon. How is he going to be a starter when he throws 25 pitches every inning?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) Are Lilli's days numbered? Everybody's days are numbered. I don't think Lillibridge is going anywhere, but he really hasn't shown this coaching staff anything offensively. He is a great pinch runner, and a decent defensive replacement, which is probably where his career is headed.

It must be said - Hawk Harrelson has to go
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) Well, Dick, Hawk just stated that he is an employee of the White Sox. Here's what I read. See the last paragraph. I could see where he would say he works for the White Sox. Its an insestual relationship. Legally I'm pretty sure he's not a White Sox employee. I do know he isn't on the White Sox payroll for his PBP job. Maybe the pay him something to consult. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,0,33900.story

2012 MLB draft talk
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:53 PM) Giolito to Washington - saw that coming. Makes me wish we had picked him even more. I read something a few years ago that said beware of guys who throw close to 100 in high school. They wind up throwing 89 when they are 25.

White Sox draft Courtney Hawkins OF out of Carroll HS (TX)
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) His player comparison was Matt kemp... Not bad They also mentioned Kevin Mitchell, which with a decent attitude is encouraging. Harold Reynolds did throw some cold water on the party with Daryl Motley.

I'll love to hear John Hart's take on Hawkins. I trust what he says about young hitters. Pitchers, not so much.

1/3 of the way through the season
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Yeah, but Adam Dunn has only grounded into one double play this season. ONE. Viciedo is already at 9, tied with Alexei Ramirez. Rios at 7, Slayer at 6, Paulie at 6. Dunn at 1. Strikeouts aren't as awful as you make them out to be, and when Dunn LEADS ALL OF BASEBALL IN WALKS, I'd say that tips the scales and makes up for the k's. Oh, he's also 2nd in HRs. He's on pace for 260 strikeouts. If he cuts that down to 160, that's 100 more balls in play. He's a career .292 babip. That's 29 more hits. About 1 out of every 4 hits is a homer, so thats an additional 7 home runs.
