  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 18, 2012 -> 09:02 PM) You obviously turn your head away in that situation so you don't take it off your eye. His mitt was going to where he thought it was going to land, and his timing was off on when it was getting there. His head and his glove went down together. It was Alex saying uncle to the sun, he was camped. He knew where it was going to land.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 18, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Gordon Beckham has struck out just 4 times in his last 10 games... He hasnt looked geat all year but at least hes making contact and doesnt look lost (see Brent Morel)....Has Dan Johnson still been playing 3rd down on the farm?? Keep in mind Dan Johnson hasn't hit over .200 in the major leagues since 2007, and is probably a Viciedo-like liability defensively at 3rd base.
  3. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 07:48 PM) Everyone seems to be conveniently ignoring Viciedo's minor league stats when they throw out Kemp or Konerko as examples. Those guys hit better than Viciedo at every level. He had better numbers than Magglio Ordonez, so he must be better than him.
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 07:30 PM) Maybe yours too. Absolutely not. That catch has to be made.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 07:11 PM) There was nothing Rios could do with that ball. He had it all the way until the last second, it's do or die at that point. If the same thing happened to De Aza, your answer would be different.
  6. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 18, 2012 -> 06:58 PM) You need to go out and take some fly balls. "Turning a little bit" doesn't change the fact that you are looking back up directly into the sun. Turning doesn't put the ball or the sun in a different place, and you're still standing in the same spot - where the ball is landing. Again, ball into sun = doesn't matter what you are shielding or trying to shield. You can't shield the sun and suddenly only have the ball appear. It's not a magic show. Wrong. Everyone there who saw the ball saw it from a different angle and some people without sunglasses didn't have to squint, and unless you are in cement, you can change the angle and use your glove as a sheild. He just stared into the sun. When I was in HS we were actually taught how to deal with the sun.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 18, 2012 -> 06:36 PM) Right. If Rios was stationary underneath it maybe he could have changed the angle by playing it of the side, but he was running in to catch the ball. Bad luck. He was camped under the ball. There is no excuse. He could have looked from an angle, he could have used the webbing of his glove as a blind. If Adam Dunn were out there, I could see where it could be a problem, but an everyday OF, no way.
  8. f*** them. Whether it was intentional or not, its time the opposition quits taking liberties with White Sox hitters. The past several years have seen way more Sox get hit than opponents. Obviously, Quentin and Pierre account for a good portion of it, but if Jake wants to plunk someone, he should do it. If the opposing pitcher knows he or one of his teammates is going to pay when he hits someone even it its just an accident, advantage White Sox. Maybe it seems like a who has a bigger cock type of excercise, but Paulie has to stop getting hit in the face, and the easiest way to stop it is to hit some opponents.
  9. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 18, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Again, you can't. You're standing in the spot where the ball will land. To adjust the angle enough to get the ball out of the sun, you'd have to run at least 10 feet to the left or right, as it's coming down. Unfortunately, the sun wins sometimes. Yes you can. You can turn a little bit and it will change your sight line slightly and you won't be looking directly into the sun but still see the ball. In fact, Rios did exactly that earlier in the game. He had plenty of time to do it. If it were more of a line drive, I may give a guy paid as much as he's paid a break, but there are plenty of high school RF who would have caught that ball.
  10. If nothing is broken, I'd be shocked if Paulie wasn't in the line up tomorrow as long as there is no vision trouble.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Robin just said with a straight face there was no purpose to the pitch at LeHair. Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.... If he says otherwise there will be a suspension
  12. Was it the Tribune that said it would take LaHair over Konerko? I thought they sold the team.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) Ahahahaha. I love Tanks arm. Tank is probably never going to be much of a fielder, but he can throw.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Len & Bob are saying that Peavy has been yelling at Samardja Good for the Jakemeister, but this does happen everytime someone gets hit. I remember years ago the TV picking up Tim Hudson calling Buerhle a b**** for hitting someone with an 85 MPH heater on the butt.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) Samarjia now talking s*** from the dugout That's fine. You want him wound up. He's either going to be unhittable the rest of the day or meat.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Apparently he was yelling at Humber. I knew I hated him for a good reason. ND isn't a good reason?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) Humber just threw at Lehair and go the warning At least part of the mission is accomplished. The Sox don't have to worry about being pitched inside the rest of the game.
  18. If anything, you show Smarjdkdj that pitching inside and hitting White Sox whether it was on purpose or not, can be harmful to himself or his teammates. It will get him off the inside edge.
  19. Throw over to first and hit him that way.
  20. I think only the Yankees have a better all time interleague record than the Sox
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) Say that to the Philadelphia 76ers They were still playing the Bulls.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) It's not what you hit, it's when you hit it! I love Hawk, but the one thing I'm still trying to figure out, "It's not who you play, but when you play them". It doesn't make sense.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:52 PM) lol, it's so stupid It really is. The more you think about it, the dumber it is. Things evolve. Its time the NL got with the program.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Cheapest tickets on StubHub today were $19 The majority of those were resales, so there are going to be empty seats. People aren't willing to pay the ridiculous face value prices they are putting on these tickets.
