  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) The Rays were retaliating against a dirty play. The umps knew it and that was that. To then throw at Zobrist especially in a close game is dumb. The Rays seem to be a fine team this is not like the Showalter BS. So the umpire knew the Rays were retaliating by drilling someone and didn't throw anyone out, but because the Sox retaliated by throwing behind a hitter that was worthy of an ejection? BS. If they think the initial "retaliation" was fine, they have to let the Sox throw behind someone without an ejection.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:36 PM) It was said earlier, but no way that AJ and Q are calling that. Those calls come from the dugout. Its either thar or its the pitcher taking matters into his own hands. He earned a lot of respect from his teammates today. The fact is, the guy who hits a batter nothing happens to, the guy that throws behind a batter gets tossed without warning. That's weak sauce.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) AJ slid in on Zobrist at 2B yesterday...late slide, his left cleat was WAY up in the air and caught Zobrist on the shin. Clearly a dirty play yesterday and could have injured BOTH of them. Wills going off on AJ. The whole thing was over.....two White Sox HBP early today but no warnings, then the White Sox decided to go after Zobrist to even up the score. Probably called by AJ himself. It wasn't called by AJ himself. Get with the program.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) I'm not even convinced that it was intentional. Maybe, but I figured AJ knew why he got hit. I'm astonished at what the umpire did. My heart's breaking for Q There's at least a 95% chance it was intentional. Other than Q was cruising, I love what he did. Was there a warning issued earlier?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Really stupid by Q and AJ I don't know.........it might cost them some bullpen, but tomorrow is an offday, and protecting your hitters does a lot for team chemistry. Throwing him out is silly, there should be a warning. We are now finally in an era where drilling Sox hitters will not be tolerated.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) At this point, I'd say that 2012 Orlando Hudson > 2011 Brent Morel I disagree. Their OPS is the same and, if healthy, Morel makes all the plays Hudson makes at 3rd, Hudson wouldn't make all the plays at 3B a healthy Morel makes. If the "real" Morel is the guy we have seen this year, there's no question Hudson is better.
  7. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) When Danks comes back shouldn't we CONSIDER a 6 man rotation if Quintana can keep this up? He looks really comfortable out there.... This would limit the innings on Peavy/Sale/Etc, not to mention continue to give this guy a chance if Humber continues to disappoint (outside of yesterday's outing) Taking pitchers out of their routines is a recipe for disaster.
  8. Morel when healthy is better defensively at 3B than Hudson and the ODog isn't exactly tearing the cover off the ball. If Morel is healthy, IMO he's better than Hudson. If he's like he's been, he's not.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) 1-3 to end it, Sox make Rays pay for HBP of Aj. Sox lead 3-1 after 2.5 from the stadium that was almost their home. JR and EE have to be so happy they didn't move there. They probably would have had to at least threaten to move again.
  10. Viciedo is having a decent month of May.
  11. 2005 1990 1983 1994 until the strike. Thomas was unreal 2000
  12. Tanks is awesome.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ May 29, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) In all seriousness, if the Sox win this game and Konerko goes hitless tonight, do you give him the off day before the off day so he gets two days off? I think I would. He just missed time with the ball to the face. Paulie will be in the line up.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2012 -> 07:13 PM) And his refusal to do so screwed us out of type A arb compensation. Yeah, maybe another Lance Broadway. The reality is, the lack of compensation pick probably saved paying bonus money to a stiff.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2012 -> 06:29 PM) I thought the reason it was controversial was because he expected us to resign him but wouldn't provide us with any access to his medical records... That was part of it. The other part was he had a procedure done that, at least at that time, wasn't done in the US. When Maggs first injured his knee, Ozzie ran out to the field and told him he should have signed the extension. Boras was his agent. He was done with the Sox.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) Yea hawk has very critical of Ozzie, albeit non-directly. He doesn't outright blame ozzie, but there is no doubt who he is talking about. That's exactly what I've noticed. He doesn't blast him like he does Manuel still from time to time, maybe because they know the firestorm it will create with Ozzie and Oney, but the indirect criticism is definitely there almost every telecast.
  17. I hope Matsui plays. Guys that haven't seen MLB pitching in 8 or 9 months are ideal opponents.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) The Sox removed the cancer, and Dunn got better. Dunn got himself in much better shape and was far more prepared coming into this season, plus he didn't get hurt. He got away with being not so physically fit in the past, but he probably realizes now he can't get away with that anymore. Hawk is making it seem like Ozzie was a big problem as well.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2012 -> 07:02 PM) "It’s a heck of an advantage when you have that kind of support. But absent of that, we’ll just go through our day-to-day grind, and hopefully at some point in time, we’ll get people’s attention.” "Every day that you don’t fill the seats, at least to a greater degree than we are, is a day it hurts," Williams said. How about doing a better job as GM? Look at the prices for this Saturday's game against the world beater Seattle Marinerss. If a family of 4 wants to go to the game, its over $200 to sit in the bleachers. Its $160 to sit in the upper deck. Its ridiculous. Its almost as if they don't want to sell tickets. Its $90+ wilth fees per ticket for a premium lower deck box. Then you add gas, parking, food...............There will be 10,000 empty seats and they wonder why.
  20. When Jerry Manuel was managing the White Sox, their OFs moved around more than any other team.
  21. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,3869392.story If they want people to buy tickets, maybe jacking up prices so much to feed the Dynamic Pricing model should be abandoned.
  22. Can't someone at CSN tell Melton its Sale not Sales? It shouldn't be that hard.
  23. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ May 28, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) Hell of a performance by Sale! Holy crap! I don't think I've thought the "20 K" thought in a while. Also, beer. I wish Sale would have struck out 25 so Kaplan could have told us how Kerry Wood fanning 20 was far more impressive.
  24. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 28, 2012 -> 03:38 PM) 22 runs in last 9 games for Braves. Maybe that Walker magic is wearing off. Caulfield is saying its all Scott Fletcher.
